Scan freezes at same file

Whenever I perform a full scan, the scan freezes at a specific file. It appears that the program has crashed (task manager reports it as 'not responding'), but if I leave the machine for about 5 minutes, the scan proceeds to a conclusion with no malware found (albeit with a large jump in the time and number of files scanned when it appears to respond again).

The file in question is in the OEM original applications area, and is a Skype installation file. SuperAntiSpyware reports the file as clean, as does Mcafee (although this too appears to freeze when scanning it). If I scan the file again after this hassle, MalwareBytes scans it in a fraction of a second, implying there's some kind of caching going on, and it is clean.

What's causing this?
