Hello all, first time posting here.

I am having a great deal of trouble with some malware on my system. This is the FIRST time I have ever had a problem with malware. I only run firefox with noscript on. I accidentally allowed a script and BAM! I got the fake antivirus popups and noises. Now I cannot open a single program in normal mode and malwarebytes cant find anything in safe mode.

I am getting lost and confused by the different guides and am looking for a kind person to help me with this process.

the infected computer is running Windows 7 64-bit. It has malwarebytes installed but I cannot run it. I tried running the iExplore.exe version of Rkill and all I get is a cascading popup error window saying installation failed.

I dont know what to do next. Please help me. Im so worried I will not be able to recover my system. I desperately need to be using that computer this time of year.

Welcome to the forum.

See if following this guide works.

You're not going to perform all that's mentioned, most likely you'll be running the reg file to restore file associations, rkill and exehelper plus MBAM.

Most important....update MBAM before you run it.

The link below explains how to rename MBAM if needed:

Post the logs back here, Good Luck....MrC
