I have recently purchased a "refurbished" computer and it has some viruses. When I try to download Malware Bytes, my computer will allow the download but when I select to open Malwarebytes after downloading I cant open the file, and I can't find any evidence that the file ever existed anywhere on my computer. The download window just disappears. Starting today, a program I am unfamiliar with, called Vista Antispyware 2012 is giving me false warnings about "stealth attack", "malicious activity in background" etc.. while attempting to download. Everytime I use TaskManager to end process for vista antispyware 2012, it automaticall comes back up on it's on. My problem is this: I have paid for Malwarebytes and I need to have it up and running on my copmuter. Can someone please help me out with this? Thanks-K PS---I have Windows Vista and my Internet Explorer is Version 7. Computer is also preventing me from upgrading to a higher version of IE.

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

  • Download the file TDSSKiller.zip and extract it into a folder on the infected PC.
  • Execute the file TDSSKiller.exe by double-clicking on it.
  • Wait for the scan and disinfection process to be over.
  • When its work is over, the utility prompts for a reboot to complete the disinfection.

By default, the utility outputs runtime log into the system disk root directory (the disk where the operating system is installed, C:\ as a rule).

The log is like UtilityName.Version_Date_Time_log.txt.

for example, C:\TDSSKiller.2.2.0_20.12.2009_15.31.43_log.txt.

Please post that log here.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post only DDS.txt directly into your reply.
