So I got hit with pum.hijack that attacked my start menu and registry. Unfortunately I did not see the directions posted on this site before I acted. So now I am in need of some additional help. Once hit I immediately shut down and restarted in safe mode. While in safe mode I ran a registry cleaner first, I know I know, wrong choice. Then I ran Malwarebytes. After getting rid of the virus I started back up in regular mode. Then realized my start menu was jacked. So I ran a couple different registry cleans and reran MBAM. All to now avail. Start menu gone. All programs listed in start menu show "empty". So that is where I am at. I have been able to locate and replace the shortcuts in my start menu so my programs show up by icon, but in the program list they are still showing "empty". I am not stupid but I am not overly techy so please be clear and patient with me with instructions. The bottom line question is how do I restore my start menu? Thank you for any help or direction you can offer. =)
