I'm encountering error with the Update function. When updating the definitions list, the percentage meter will reach 100%, and then reset, and start downloading the update again. It will continue in this loop until I cancel the update, shut down the protection module entirely (from the system tray icon), start MBAM again (and then re-enabling the protection module from the Protection options tab), and run the update again. The update will now complete normally, but the error will occur again at the NEXT update, and I'll have to shutdown MBAM and restart it again.

I'm using MBAM Pro v1.51.2.1300. I tried opening the Malwarebytes website with Firefox to get to the support boards, but I keep getting the following error page: "Content Encoding Error - The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression". This error page started appearing shortly after I updated to Firefox 7.x (I'm now using FF 8.0, so it was something between v6 and v7 that broke it). Internet Explorer seems to have no problem displaying the page. If no one else has a problem seeing the site in Firefox 7 and above, then the issue may be my ISP, but that doesn't explain why I can see it it IE and not FF.

Please try the following for MBAM.

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
