  1. Microsoft has officially announced the latest Version 20H2 of Windows 10. The 20 represents the decade portion of 2020. The H2 signifies the 2nd release of the year ( or the Fall season update). This version is entirely optional as long as your Windows version is not out of its end-of-service date. Also note that organization & Enterprise & Education & iOT licenses have a different set of EOS dates from consumer ( Home or Pro ) licenses. Please read https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2020/10/20/how-to-get-the-windows-10-october-2020-update/ If you are running Version 1903 or later you will only see the "Download and install" displayed when you manually visit Microsoft Windows Update. So note that that means a pro-active action by the end-user-customer & implies affirmative acceptance and demand for install. Microsoft says Also see the update Microsoft Windows 10 Release notes https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/ https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-20h2 If you have questions, please post & ask away.
  2. After a Windows update at some point before September, I had the issue that if it updated, my Microphone would stop functioning. However, if I didn't update, Apps wouldn't function. I much preferred having a microphone, as I use it quite often to play games and such. The issue is; I can't revert the windows update that *caused* the problem, as Windows 10 for some reason decided "You can't reverse updates before September now" on a whim, and I can't prevent updates either, so it just forced me to accept I now have a microphone that works just fine, but Windows just refuses to register any incoming noise from it. I've got zero idea why it doesn't pick up anything, as it's been an issue with two different headsets now, and the microphones work just fine on their own. I know this for sure, as the headsets both have "Sidetone" that plays my voice back into the headset to prevent speaking loudly, and that absolutely works just fine on both headsets I've used. The only issue there really is, appears to me to be Windows being stubborn about it, with no real idea why it would be. I hope someone is able to help me out, because I've tried reinstalling Logitech G HUB, completely removing registry for Logitech Gaming Software from the previous headset, and trying to plug it out and back in in several different ways, all to no use.
  3. Running M3 v3.7.1 on 64x Win10 Pro. I installed Windows Update v1903 tonight and, now Windows Defender AV is disabled and Windows Defender AS is enabled. Also, Windows Defender is no longer listed in context menu of File Explorer. Before installing this WU 1903 update, Windows Defender was fully enabled along side of MBAM real-time protection and custom scanning with Windows Defender was an option in the File Explorer context menu. Yes, I have rebooted several times after Windows Update. The following is from a FRST log: AV: Windows Defender (Disabled - Up to date) {D68DDC3A-831F-4fae-9E44-DA132C1ACF46} AV: Malwarebytes (Enabled - Up to date) {23007AD3-69FE-687C-2629-D584AFFAF72B} AS: Windows Defender (Enabled - Up to date) {D68DDC3A-831F-4fae-9E44-DA132C1ACF46} Please tell me how to re-enable Windows Defender and add it to the context menu. Thank you DW

  6. Hi! Can you help me please. Have a problem with one laptop after a windows update the Malwarebytes program seems to have vanished. Looked at settings in Windows for apps and no program is listed. I tried to download Malwarebytes again but getting a message on screen that an error has occurred. Looking in Windows Explorer files I am seeing a Malwarebytes folder under Programs with some files but an unable to remove them, system wouldn’t allow it. Picture of message attached which I am getting when try to re-install. How can I resolve this?
  7. Hiya, I was just going to leave it but after a few months it has gotten more annoying, everytime I play a game on my computer when I close the game my automatic updates for windows deactivates. [Opens with the pop up suggestion of turning automatic updates on which I always do] Its more of an annoyance than everything else. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  8. So for some reason yesterday (after 9 months of paid version scanning daily) I had two "trojan" hits. They are both the same time of file found in: c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\bunch_of_letters_and_numbers_folder The files are both the same size looking like: BIT61D1.tmp When you open in Notepad they look like normal temp files from MS windows updates being applied. I decided to upload one to "VirusTotal" and got a full clean (all green check marks) even from MalwareBytes. So I believe they are both Temp files created when I "uninstalled" KB3035583 (didn't want the GWX on my one PC). Since these are just Temp files I figured I'd let my local MalwayreBytes go ahead and quarantine both of them just because I don't see it hurting anything. I have a screen capture of VirusTotal saying the tmp file is all clean (0/54). I am also uncertain if the Temp files had any personal data in them so I have requested VIrustotal to remove it when possible. Like I said MalwareBytes found 2 of these exact same temp files that I believe were generated by the two times I had to uninstall the same KB Win7 update.
  9. I have been unable to successfully complete a Windows Update on my 32-bit Vista machine since a MBAM v2.0.8.1057 Threat Scan detected and quarantined two registry entries for PUP.Optional.Spigot.A on 11-Aug-2015 (see attached MBAM scan log). I'm not sure if the Spigot detection and problems with Windows Update are simply a coincidence or if remants of Spigot might be preventing a connection to the Windows Update server. I do not see an error when Windows Update runs - it just reports that it is checking for updates and never finishes, even if I leave Windows Update runnning for over an hour. Process Explorer shows that the Windows process svchost.exe constantly consumes ~50% of my CPU while Windows Update is running (i.e., complete saturation of one of my Intel Duo cores) and that a thread for the Windows Update service (wuauserv) is responsible for that CPU activity. I ran full scans of my system with both MBAM and NIS yesterday, as well as a system file check ("sfc /verifyonly" from elevated command prompt) and none of these scans reported any further detections or problems. This might be unrelated, but please note that I have a paid Premium license for MBAM but deactivated my MBAM realtime protection about a month ago because of an ongoing issue with MBAM v2.x Malicious Website Protection that prevents my Norton Internet Security from running automatic LiveUpdates - see my 07-Dec-2014 thread Norton Pulse Updates Fail when Malicious Website Protection Enabled. I have a support ticket for this problem and was told by the Product Support Specialist on 04-Jun-2015 (and again on 03-Aug-2015) that they were preparing instructions for collecting further data but I still haven't received those instructions and don't want to continue waiting for assistance from the Help Desk if it means leaving my MBAM realtime protection disabled for long periods of time. ------------- 32-bit Vista Home Premium SP2 * Firefox 40.0 (default) * IE9 * NIS 2014 v. 21.7.0.11 * MBAM Premium 2.0.8.1057 HP Pavilion dv6835ca, Intel Core2Duo T5550 @ 1.83 GHz, 3 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS FRST.txt Addition.txt MBAM Scan Log Spigot Registry Entries 11 Aug 2015.txt
  10. Malwarebytes quarrantined malware and since then Windows no longer updates, Microsoft Secutiy Essentials won't turn on or update. Itunes program will not connect to internet. I am guessing files were corrupted by virus, removed by Mbam and then deleted. is a recovery point a way to reinstall missing/corrupted files, a reinstallation? How do i recover? I am on the net typing this on the machine, so it must be a networking issue, not a hardware problem. Thanks for any help. this was the site that did the damage. I downloaded their virus instead of audacity: http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/ Dusty
  11. After Lenovo Superfish fiasco, another big issue came to light this week with Samsung PCs. It has been discovered by Patrick Barker, a Microsoft MVP that some Samsung PCs have Windows Update automatically disabled by a tool automatically downloaded by a pre-loaded software called SW Update which acts as the standard updater for Samsung PCs. 14. I've essentially described my dilemma in the topic title. The internet is the most frustrating part and I suspect that might have something to do with an infection. Since I can't directly interact with anyone online, is there somehow a way I can fix the problem via my portable hard drive? Any help would be greatly appreciated
  15. I've essentially described the entire problem in the topic tag. The most frustrating part is not being able to access this forum directly on my P.C., due to the intermittent internet (I suspect this might also be caused by malware). Solutions required urgently. I would be very grateful of any help.
  16. Addition.txt FRST.txt Each time I open newspaper website www.theage.com.au I get a popup ]see attached png] requesting I select to "Windows Update You need install critical windows updates." The grammar is wrong, the popup isn't 'official windows' and the run command attaches a "#modal" command at the end of the webaddress - www.theage.com.au#modal As this is my first post - the attached FRST.txt file and Addition.txt files might give a clue. I'm stuck Cheers.

  18. Hi, I have aproblem which I tried so long to solve with no success: my PC is running Win 7 (32bit), everything runs perfectly except windows update. I have dot net framework 4.5.1 installed but win update keep asking to install the following: "security update for microsoft .net framework 3.5.1 on windows 7 sp1 kb2844286" and it keeps failing. I tried almost everything i found on the net with no success. I have been told by a pro support that I may be seeing the effects of an ongoing "hijackware infection. Plese find here attached a print of what I get (error) and another print of what "win update trouble shooting" gives me. I'm really tired of trying and trying. I have only "Malwarebytes" as security software (I have no anti virus installed). Could you please help me with this issue? Thanks a lot.
  19. Hello, I have windows 8.1 with AVAST & Malwarebytes 2.0 (Premium). Avast has been prompting alerts for SVCHost downloading "am_delta_e......exe" & "nis_delta_patch_.....exe" from au.v4.download.windowsupdate.com with no digital signatures (as shown in the enclosed attachments). Malwarebytes did not prompt any alerts or warnings! Are these files/downloads legitimate microsoft sources? Thank you!
  20. Hello everyone, I'm having stubborn corruption issues on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I have tried hard to solve this for almost 2 weeks now, without success..I'm a bit surprised/offended to find myself being forced to resort to specialized forums like this one to fix my problem because I usually always find a way of my own. But this time I will need you guys. My problem is very similar to zac1 on this thread, whom receive great help from Rkinner: Windows 7 will not update - Geeks to Go Forums I'm fairly good at digging into Windows OS so I'll be able to follow your instruction very easily, without having you to be extremely detailed and to describe any common IT terms. 21. Hi everyone: When I try to launch my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, an error message pops up saying: "Run-time error '50003' Unexpected error". I have already cleanly reinstalled Malwarebytes Anti-Malware following the MBAM Clean Removal Process, but the message keeps popping up. I have also run the DDS scan (logs are attached). According to Firefox (trusted advisor), there is much more going on than just a problem with MBAM, probably a malware infection. This makes sense to me, since I have also been experiencing the following problems: - Windows Update does not work properly: although warning of new updates, it is unable to download (and install) those updates - I cannot update Internet Explorer 9 to Internet Explorer 11 My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1. I am running the free version of MBAM. Thanks! FriZin PD: is there any way of changing my MBAM user name from "Frizinkerq" to "Frizinker" (the q was a typo)? attach.txt dds.txt attach.txt dds.txt

I am locked out of my adminster settings Windows Updater keeps changing settings to "notify me" then locks me out of changing it saying I need administer privalages when I -am- the administrator. 23. Hello, my computer has been running fine past few weeks, thanks to one of your expert helps solving my problem , until up to a few days ago where it recently began having problems. I went to Windows Update and i saw that something had disabled it into never running it. So as I should, I tried to put it back on and whenever it would search through updates, it said it could not install any and try again. This kept happening in a loop until today where I was finally able to install the updates, but I'm still worried why it was disabled and why it wasn't able to install them when I allowed it to check and install automatically. Secondly, since then, my svchost.exe has been spiking to 300k+ and i've come to learn (through previous issues i've been able to resolve and from others posts) that this could be a problem. Lastly, as I will post the picture below, I was running virus scans on my computer, ESET 1 time scanner (scanned but didn't produce log, that is why I cannot post it at this time) which found nothing, Norton which found nothing, and MBAM which ran for 18 hours through 500k files but eventually froze and didn't finish. During that time last night while i was sleeping and no one had accessed my computer, I found some files on my C Drive which I was not familiar with. Posted below will by the DDS, Attach, Norton Results, TDSS Killer from Kaspersky and the picture with the files in question. DDS . 24. Similar problem to Nancydnv in another post. Perhaps Maurice you can help me as well? I have Windows Vista, 64-bit. I've been trying to perform 12 Windows updates for about two weeks now, but they consistenetly fail. Tried in a "clean boot" state, as well as with limited services running as a few websites suggested but with no luck. I started to notice many users who had a similar problem with Windows update were also using SM, so I uninstalled it completely. System restore will not go back further than 5 days, even though that box is checked. I tried doing the updates in 2 groups of 6 as well without any success. Error codes are 80070641 and 641. I've tried Microsoft Fixit with no success. I've also tried Windows Installer 4.5 (KB942288-v2-x86.msu, KB942288-v2-x64.msu, KB942288-v2-ia64.msu), but none would work as all three said they were not for my version of Windows. Another site suggested I go to services.msc, however, when I do, Windows Installer is NOT listed. I tried the "merge" with the Windows Reg Editor 5.0 and reboot, but that did not work either. Up until now I have had no problems with SM and just renewed it earlier this month. Needless to say I will be asking for a refund! At the cmd promp I have entered: net stop wuauserv [enter] Next I am browsing the C drive for: Windows\Software Distribution\Download I have 68 items in that folder going back to Sep. 2010. Is the next step to delete all of these? I assume no adverse affect if these files are deleted? Once that is done I understand I should go back to the cmd prompt and enter: net start wuauserv [enter] ~~~ logoff and reboot How exactly do I do a custom scan selection and will ANY updates work if I do not see Windows Installer listed in my "Services" (local) folder? If I am to proceed, only Office updates at first, correct? Post back here if even those fail? Detailed step-by-step assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I inadvertently left out any pertinent information for troubleshooting. Thanks!
