  1. After enabling Use Expert System Algorithms, Threat Scans now yield false positives of Malware.Heuristic.1001 in C:\Windows\Installer for Corel Video Studio Pro and Malware.Heuristic.1003 for InstallShield Blank Project Template. Additionally, Malwarebytes Premium also gives false positives of Malware.Heuristic.1003 for QuarkXPress' Updater in C:\ProgramData\Quark. I am not sure if this is due to excessively invasive copy protection schemes being employed by both Corel Corporation and Quark, or overly zealous heuristics in Malwarebytes? 1938753306_FalsePostivesonCorelQuarkfiles.zip
  2. A few months ago I downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and ran a full scan. It identified several potential threats. I quarantined them and deleted them. Immediately afterward I started having system issues, (i.e., frequent crashes, boot-up failures, errors when starting software or when going into windows). After about a month of this, I figured I should run a system restore to a date prior to installing Malwarebytes assuming that my deleting one or more of these "potential threats" is what was causing my system problems. Unfortunately the only choices for restore dates were subsequent to my
  3. Hi I have two computers - an HP desktop running WinXPSP3 and an HP laptop running Windows7 64bit. Both are protected by Norton Internet Security and I regularly run a full scan using Malwarebytes (normally once a week). I had some problems with a virus about 6 months ago but after full OS installs everything has been fine. Last night Malwarebytes reported the same problem on both computers - Trojan.Agent/Gen-Virut detected in: C:\WINDOWS\INSTALLER\{90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}\MISC.EXE and C:\WINDOWS\INSTALLER\{90A40409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}\MISC.EXE I removed the threats and r
  4. I have the same problem as this user: Nancydnv posted on 25 May 2012 - 09:26 P I have the following: HP Pavilion Elite e9180t Desktop PC Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) I followed the instructions given by the Moderator, Maurice Naggar (Thank you!) and got to the part where I tried to update Word. I selected 7 important updates for Word, but the update failed with the following error: Code 80246007 Windows Update encountered an unknown error. Here is the last part of the Windows Update Log, per Maurice's suggestion. 2012-06-24 09:46:02:015 1112 1058 DnldMgr * All files for upd
  5. Similar problem to Nancydnv in another post. Perhaps Maurice you can help me as well? I have Windows Vista, 64-bit. I've been trying to perform 12 Windows updates for about two weeks now, but they consistenetly fail. Tried in a "clean boot" state, as well as with limited services running as a few websites suggested but with no luck. I started to notice many users who had a similar problem with Windows update were also using SM, so I uninstalled it completely. System restore will not go back further than 5 days, even though that box is checked. I tried doing the updates in 2 groups of 6
  6. I'm having some serious problems with lots of things on my computer. I have Windows 7 Home Edition and recently tried speeding up my computer with a reg fixer and by defragging it. It's kind of sped up but more problems have come up in place of that. Firstly my sound isn't working. Everything says it should be but when I do a troubleshoot it says hardware changes haven't been found. Second problem is my internet. It's working A-OK but it gives me that red x at the bottom and says I'm not connected. Third and most significant problem is that the windows installer is not working at all! I can't
