I'm running the latest versions of Windows 10 & Malwarebytes for Windows. My system appears to be infected with malware which I suspect came from a Google Chrome extension. Yesterday my PC started running very slowly and I noticed I received numerous Google Chrome notifications in the Windows message center (refer to the images below). After unsuccessfully performing a "Clean up computer" from the Advanced settings in Chrome, I performed a clean install of Chrome (uninstalling the previous installation & deleting the Chrome folder in Windows). I have not logged back into my account from within Chrome so extensions haven't been reinstalled. After reinstalling Chrome, I started a Custom Scan of my entire hard drive. The scan has been running for over 21 hours. It is still running. Over 680,000 items have been scanned and there has only been one (1) detection thus far: PUP.Optional.Ask. The offending file is: c:\users\mike\desktop\mike\appdata\local\temp\apnic.dll. I've let the scan run this long so I'm hesitant to stop it; however, I need to be able to regain the use of the infected computer as soon as possible. Is there any way for me to know how close the scan is to being done? Should I allow the custom scan to complete or is there a better course of action for me to take at this point? What are the steps I should take to resolve this and be certain my computer is no longer compromised? Thank you.

I am having difficulty getting the Windows 10 update below to download and install on my laptop. 2020-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4551762) I have tried running “Troubleshooter” to no avail. I am using a DELL Inspiron 5579 x64 based Windows 10 Home I am wondering if my laptop might have a virus causing this difficulty. Could someone kindly advise me as to what a cure to this pesky issue might be? Thank you Thank you

Thank you for providing the opportunity to test the Beta version. NICE: Subsequent to install, most features are already active by default; Didn’t time it but scan seems faster; First level interface very clean; Detection history easy to work with; double-click shows great history details Second-level Real-Time Protection window nice layout; everything is visible Easy navigation to all sub-menus Settings menu much improved; many more options “About” menu under Settings has a great deal of useful links Scan history is nice touch COULD BE BETTER: Scan button under Scanner (Main Menu); is it quick or full? Only when I navigate to Scan Scheduler and Schedule Scan (second level down from Scanner on Main Menu) does it appear I can select Quick or Custom (Full?) scan. Setting start time for either Quick or Custom scan should be a pull-down menu; currently requires both time and AM/PM to be hand-jammed

I believe my computer is infected. I tried running the Premium version of MWB several times and it didn't find any threats. I followed the directions for downloading Farbar recovery tool and get a warning that appears to be part of the infection. I've included screenshot and a screenshot of a new icon appearing on my desktop. I did not want to go any further without posting here. I have not installed Farbar and I've not sure I can. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Began following Windows error message and auto restart. On restart, Windows appeared to update and hang. Restarted manually and began to receive this error. Manual start of MWB RTP keeps turning back off. mb-check-results.zip
