  1. Threat scan only seems to scan through the SSD that I have win7 and Malwarebytes 3.0 is installed in. For example, when I perform a threat scan, it goes through 355,000 items. I disconnect my second SSD drive and power cable (the one that doesnt have win7 and Malwarebytes 3.0 installed) and perform another threat scan and only 355,000 items are scanned. Anyway to configure it so threat scans include both of my SSDs? Thanks!
  2. So my laptop started becoming extremely slow after 5 minutes of booting starting last week. I found out that my disk usage was at 100% for whatever reason. I was told to get the free trial of malwarebytes and start a threat scan. It has been 6 hours and the scan is on the second to the last step. About 170,000 files have been scanned and 213 threats were found. Is this normal? Should I stop the scan and try something else?
  3. I had this problem also. I upgraded to and scan runs for over 14 hours. I stop the scan, so I don't know if it would ever finish. I had this issue a couple of months ago, but cannot remember what I did to fix it. mb-check attached. mb-check-results.zip
  4. I now run Malwarebytes, Component package version, 1.0.322, Update package version 1.0.4528. This appears to be current. It's running on Windows 7 Pro. I run a daily threat scan. When I first upgraded, around the beginning of March, a threat scan took under 10 minutes. Within a day or so, it began taking around 30 minutes. (True there's a lot of disk on this machine - the data drive is 2TB.) On the 24th, the scan took an hour and a half, then dropped back briefly to under 30 minutes. On the 27th, it took almost 5 hours. Today, the 28th, the scan had been running for just over 7 hours when I cancelled it because the CPU usage was affecting the rest of the box. This was the regularly scheduled scan. What is going on here? On my laptop with a 750GB drive, running the same version of Malwarebytes on the same O/S, scans rarely take more than an hour. Why is this machine different?
  5. Does the "Scan Registry" part of Malwarebytes threat scanner do anything? Reason I ask is every time I run a scan (Threat or custom, doesn't matter), the process seems to skip over the Scan Registry process really fast. Every other process (Scan Memory, Scan Startup Files, etc.) takes anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or so, but Scan Registry finishes in what seems like 0.001 seconds. Not sure if it's actually doing anything.
  6. Hello! First time posting here, so I'm sorry for the long post. I transitioned from Mac to Windows a while back & I use Windows Defender in conjunction with Malwarebytes All is running well, until one night after I full scanned my laptop using Windows Defender. After that, every time I try scanning with Malwarebytes, it seems to hang in two places: Startup Items(once) & Scan File System(many times). The last scan I did was this. I tried killing it by cancelling the scan, right-clicking MB's taskbar icon & selecting 'Quit Malwarebytes'(killing it in Taskbar & just closing the window still makes the scan continuing when I re-open it), but that will result in an 'Unable to connect to server' & Malwarebytes closing if I re-open it. I tried uninstalling using CCleaner's Uninstall section, Control Panel, mb-clean.exe & Malwarebytes' own uninstaller, but most of the time, the uninstaller will be stuck too, forcing me to kill it. I don't know what to do now. The only virus I got was Win32/Gamarue.gen!A, which is already quarantined & banished by Windows Defender. Yet, Malwarebytes still has this problem. Please help me, thanks in advance! Addition.txt FRST.txt MB-CheckResults.txt
  7. I've had Malwarebytes Premium and Avast for almost a year now with no issues, but lately I think I have reasons to be concerned. Threat scans for me usually take around 15 minutes, but now they seem to be taking longer. A scan from last night took around 30m, and as of right now a bootscan that started around 11:00AM has taken 1hr20m44s and still hasn't finished. It usually scans in the neighborhood of 300,000+ items, and that hasn't changed, but the time it is taking is starting to worry me. Prior to these scans I made some back ups and a system image for a external HDD, so I'm hoping that has something to do with it and that there's nothing to worry about. I'm new to support forum help and I don't really know what information you need, but here is my system: Windows 8.1 64-bit Intel Core i5 4690K @ 3.50GHz 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz 931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-00WN4A0 (SATA) I would appreciate any help you could give me.
  8. I recently upgraded to the latest V3 of MBAM. Big mistake on my part. I did a clean install on one computer and haven't had any major issues, but on this old Win7 x64 rig I have nothing but issues. Firstly, I installed over the old V2, except I evidently didn't. The new V3 installer points to a folder where the V2 was not installed, even though it was left at default during original installation. So I had to versions installed that conflicted with each other. To fix this I removed both V2 and V3 and ran the Clean tool for V2. Reinstalled V3 after reboot and all seemed fine except for being unable to activate Malware protection. Not a big issues since I disabled the unwanted free trial of premium anyway. Everything seemed fine at this point. Then I tried to do a threat scan. Updates definitions, scans for 5 seconds, and done. No Threats Found! Except according to the log this scan was canceled before anything was actually scanned. So after doing multiple clean installs including removal with Revo, this problem remains consistent. I simply can't run a threat scan, making the program useless. I really wish I still had my V2 offline installer. It worked fine with no issues at all. Any idea how to get this thing actually scanning? Other security includes Avast Home AV and Comodo Firewall, both disabled completely for testing with no effect. I've attached the only log file MBAM has created so far. There is no Malwarebytes folder in the AppData folder for actual scan logs. MBAMSERVICE.LOG
  9. Hi, basically I have two questions: 1.) How do you run a full scan? The way I tried to do it was go into Custom Scan and select my C drive as well as all folders with in it that were shown. Is this the right way to run a full scan? 2.) What is the rough time it takes to run a full scan (if question 1 was done correctly) and a threat scan. My full scan took about 2 hours & 15 minutes whereas my threat scan takes about 20-30 minutes (was previously 40). Is this about right? I don't have lots of items on my computer nor is it bare with just a few apps and games. Does this sound about right? Thanks in advance!
  10. Hi, Im looking for advice please on whether or not to 'quarantine' or 'remove' two files which have been found during my most recent Malwarebytes scan on my FREE install. They look like junk to me BUT I'm purely making my judgement based on some of the wording on the file names because I'm definitely no expert. I'm fairly literate but I only know how to do some basic things confidently. So I thought I would run my findings past you lovely guys/gals. I've not used an I.T forum before so be gentle with me. Haha! Scan log attached. (I hope I'm doing this right?! Apologies from the newbie if not!) Louloupopz Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and respond to me :-D Malwarebytes scan log 28082015.doc
  11. Every time I try to run a threat scan the scan is cancelled around 15 to 20 seconds into the scan. Windows XP, Malwarebytes version How do I fix this? Jason
  12. So I'd previously posted as a false positive, and miekiemoes advised me to post here as well. After running a 'Threat Scan' with MBAM free, SYSTEM32\drivers\ntfs.sys as an unknown rootkit driver. This is on a XP sp3 pc. I further scanned said file with Zemana antimalware, (6) engines, and file showed clean, as did a scan with qihoo 360 TSE. Attached Images

  14. One of the three of our computers does not seem to be working well with Malwarebytes. It starts off just fine but when it gets to the "Heuristic Analysis: Working" the "Detected Objects" just starts going crazy after it runs about 30 minutes. At first it will let me see the objects it has detected, but then for the next six hours it will run up over 200,000 objects detected. EVERY TIME. There will be nothing in the history box. What do I do?

  16. Hello Malware Bytes support, I have recently updated my MBAM premium version to the latest v. under Windows 7 (64-bit). Additionally I use Avast (free version) antivirus to protect my PC. The recent version is causing my computer to crash with the dreaded 'Blue Screen of Death' (BSOD) which has never ever happened before with any other program since the past 3 years life of my computer. I looked online and found another similar post with the recommendation of turning the root-kit scan off under MBAM settings which I had enabled when I first installed the latest verison (v2...) However nothing has changed and my PC continues to freeze and crash whenever the scan runs. Please advice.
