  1. Hi, I have been cleaning up a friends laptop and have manged to get rid of most of the rubbish on it, but I can't uninstall Snap.Do Engine. When pressing uninstall in CCleaner or Program & Features nothing happens. I have run... Malwarebytes CCleaner AdwCleaner avast! Free JRT It looks like the same issue here... https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/128158-cant-uninstall-snapdo/ Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
  2. My 13 son fancies himself an ace hacker. Unfortunately, he just knows how to find trouble. His computer seems to be infected with everything! I tried to run MalwareBytes. But it stopped at 80% and didn't move for three hours, so I gave up. I've attached the Farbar logs here. He really wanted to create his Minecraft YoTube show over the weekend. Any help would be appreciated. Shannon FRST.txt Addition.txt
  3. So, I've got several clients that I've recommended a combination of NIS and Malwarebytes to solve all their heartache, and so far, it's been pretty good so far. However, now I've got a Win8.1 PC infected with this snap.do crap, and Malwarebytes doesn't even recognize the problem. This crapware has been in the wild for 2 years, and my client wants to know why she spent money on a piece of software that won't even stop malware that's at least 2 years old. I can explain away zero-day attacks, like the Crypto-series. What I can't explain away is this software hijacking her computer that shows up
  4. Hi, So when I started my PC (Windows 7) up today and used google chrome something strange happened. When I open a new tab, it goes to my new tab page, then it gets redirected to http://feed.helperbar.com/?p=(Random letters and numbers) which then redirects to http://search.snapdo.com/?st=nt&q= So I looked those up on google and they all said to remove it using add/remove programs, and remove it from the extensions, New page tab and search engine. But those are all correct. There's nothing about them, since it doesn't go to those websites straight away. It goes to my new tab page fi
  5. I have just been infected with the Snap.Do virus. I've removed the extension from chrome but I know it is still installed on my computer. When I run the uninstall part from the control panel, the uninstall process just hangs while I "Please wait while Windows configures Snap.Do". It won't get past the first step in the original instructions. I'm running on Windows 7. Please help.
  6. Hello, Unfortunately I have removed snap.do entries with mbam before uninstalling snap.do. Now I am not able to uninstall snap.do. Can I get some advice on this please ? Kind regards, Jerry
  7. I instaled and ran the free version of Malwarebytes today specifically in order to remove snap.do along with anything else that it might find. Snap.do did show up in the search results and removal but afterwards I am still seeing the program name listed when I look at my uninstal programs list. Here is my DDS report: DDS (Ver_2012-11-20.01) - NTFS_AMD64 Internet Explorer: 10.0.9200.16736 BrowserJavaVersion: 10.45.2 Run by Tylor at 9:18:12 on 2013-11-25 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 6.1.7601.1.1252.1.1033.18.3561.1466 [GMT -6:00] . 8. Hi there, Starting up Chrome, snap.do starts as homepage. However the toolbar still searches as Google, new tab open up as google, google is still default search engine. When I close the browser, my settings correctly open where i left off. Unless, all tabs were closed and the browser is opened fresh. Snap.do is NOT in extensions, there is no software I can uninstall and a full malwarebytes scan has come back clean. I am perplexed by this. Many thanks
  9. Hello My pc started started to act strangely yesterday (i.e. telling me explorer couldn't run, and apple application support not found, my search engine and tool bars changed, acrobat reader crashed, and many adverts etc popping up etc). I looked at my Programs and noticed I had snap.do. tried to uninstall it but it did not follow the usual path. Instead a window popped up asking me where I would like to 'hide' Snap.Do. I spoke to a friend who told me to install Malwarebytes and run a quick scan. I have done this but it did not detect Snap.Do I restarted my pc and then noticed that it
  10. Dell Inspiron 1525, Windows Vista Hello Malwarebytes! Please help! My computer was infected with Snap.do which hijacked both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. I followed the advice on malwaretips.com (malwaretips/blogs/snap-do-toolbar-removal/) and after backing up my files, uninstalled the program (which was cunningly named Quick Share and published under Linkbury Inc). I then removed the Snap.do residual damage (following the step-by-step instructions... until today I was quite happy with Norton and knew nothing about viruses... 5 hours later however ) from both browsers and ran Adwcleane
