  1. Dear Malwarebytes, I received the option to update Malwarebytes to the latest version yesterday. I chose the option to install the latest version and it just hung at the end of the install. I haven't had problems installing any other programs except this one. I tried the repair install 3 times and it gets to the point where it reinstalls Malwarebytes then just hangs. If I try to run Malwarebytes it just hangs and the whole system freezes requiring a hard reboot. I also tried the clean uninstall option and experienced the same hang and freezing etc. Since then I ran Memtest 86 v4.3.7 (legacy BIOS), ran a check disk of the C drive, and ran "sfc /scannow" as the administrator. All of the results have come back fine. I'm not sure hat is causing the problem. I ran the Malwarebytes reporting tool and have uploaded the zip file. Any help or instruction would be much appreciated. Best Regards, Ben mbst-grab-results.zip
  2. Just today I was with my brother when he turned on his computer to find that his profile was gone and replaced with a windows profile for "Johnny". We assumed that this is the person that last owned the computer, but we have had no luck trying to contact that person again. Since I felt impatient, I have tried going around the pass word by pressing the F8 key to get to safe mode with command prompts but found that I was lead back to the Window's profile list showing just Johnny. I have tried every safe mode option but the computer refuses to boot in safe mode. Additionally, I have tried the "repair your computer" option and I am given a list of two profiles that I could choose to enter a password for (neither of them that I know). There seems to be no way of getting around this. I have followed the steps from this thread but as I just said I was unable to progress past "repair your computer" due to the password. I have a good USB clear and ready if it needs to be used.

  4. i had a bout a while back with some adware that i successfully removed (thanks malwarebytes!) however i think the damage was already done... i noticed some unusual glitches with my system like various programs not booting up at startup and odd visual/audio freezes/gaps in random sets of 3... anyway i had to move and figured i'd try to resolve it later, and i figured i'd just run a windows repair and see if that didn't help resolve the issue... it didn't and also added more problems lol... anyway um.. i was directed to here after reading a similar post and i was told to post my dds and attach logs here. i hope i'm doing this right. so bare with me :-S any help would be appreciated as i'm on limited funds atm due to moving and i'd hate to have to haul the rig in to get fixed. *i included a screen cap of the mbam run-time error i was getting. dds.txt attach.txt
  5. Hello, I had my Laptop running MBAM Quickscan and went outside the room, and when I came back in it had a black screen but the laptop was still running (I wasnt able to do anything). After rebooting it went to the Startup Repair, which i dont know if this is a fake. I cant enter safe mode after pressing F8 while booting, it always ends up going in Startup Repair. I let the Startup Repair run through, it said it fixed all issues (Disk Volume corrupt) and everything should be repaired. After restart--> Startup Repair again... Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi, After thinking I had succesfully removed the pseudo government ransomware that I was infected with a few weeks ago, I began intermittently experiencing redirects and cookie issues on secure sites. So I ran Malwarebytes last night, went through about 5 scans before it apparently removed all detected objects. I then decided to do another update after that and the next scan detected 15 objects. Upon reboot, I now cannot enter safe mode or system repair - they both hang on loading and then crash and reboot. What can I do? and thanks in advance for any assistance.
