PUP.Datamngr (Virus- Need Help Removing)
DawsTheBoss posted a topic in Resolved Malware Removal Logs
Hello, I would first off like to say Malware Bytes has helped me a lot, I have removed multiple viruses and I really like the software. However, MalwareBytes has detected a virus called PUP.Datamngr in my registry. The thing is, when I remove it from quarantine (delete it), it will show up again next time I scan. I have no clue how I got it or how long it's been on my computer, it doesn't seem to be causing a lot of damage that I know of as of now. But it just keeps showing up and maybe if I can get it off my system will be faster. Please, I ask of you to help me remove this for good off my PC. I will include the log below. Hi, a few months ago, my computer downloaded a virus. It was really terrible at first, the virus wanted me to scan my computer using an "anti-virus" software I'd never heard of & it wouldn't let me get on the internet or use Malwarebytes to scan my computer. I ended up deleting some of it using the task manager & a lot of just plain luck. Ever since, I have been scanning my computer like normal & using the internet. I have noticed that pup.datamngr has been showing up in the scan. Malwarebytes never gets rid of it though. I honestly have no idea what to try next. I don't want to lose everything on my computer. I just got it in August & I would really appreciate it if someone could help me get it off of my computer safely.

MBAM almost always indicates I have an infection with PUP.Datamngr, and I can use MBAM to correct the problem for a few minutes. Thus, I presume that if I spend $25 for the PRO version, it will also fail in the same regard. I tried to find a specific place in your forum to read more about the problem, but searching for PUP.Datamngr was futile for me, even though I found something about it on this site just before I signed up to be a member. I did find a set of instructions that I should download and run DDS and send you an analysis report. My question is, should I wait until I am infected again, or should I run the test after I clean the problem with MBAM? It should be a piece of cake to get infected again. All I have to do is pull up the New York Times Website, or just about any other one.

Frequent runs of MBAM indicate registry infection of PUP.Datamngr. Symptoms are extraneous hover ad pop-ups. Had two BSODs in last couple days. Some reboots resulted in temporary desktops. Eventually had to create a new admin account and delete the old one to get reliable rebooting. Your help is much appreciated. JerryI dds.txt attach.txt
