  1. Hello I just downloaded malwarebytes to try it out since we use it on our company laptops but I wanted to install it for my personal PC as well but since downloading it I have been getting constant prompts about a Trojan detected site from syswow64\ipconfig which just appears to be a standard windows file to get machine information the export of the alert is posted below as well as a screenshot of the popup. The IP Address from that screenshot (to my knowledge) is not my machines IP address. Your assistance is much appreciated. 2. Recently I suffered an attack on my PC. I ran windows defender (the default option in Windows 10) and it identified a Trojan. This attack among other things, deleted a bunch of my files. I decided to try malwarebytes and it quarantined a bunch of files. However, I am constantly receiving notifications every minute about a website that malwarebytes is blocking time and time again. I am uploading a screenshot of this notification. What should I do to fix this? An unrelated question would be, can a trojan read pictures and identify words on a picture? Thanks!
  3. Hi. Is the Digital Trends notification I keep getting evidence of malware etc? Malwarebytes is telling me my iMac is all clear yet Safari is hanging and I keep getting the notification.
  4. How is this done? The How-To gives the following instructions: But this does not seem to be the case. The only areas responsive to clicks are the two buttons - and clicking "Manage Exclusions" only opens the window, you still have to manually add the exclusions. Edit: Also, would it be possible in the future to support wildcards in domain addresses?
  5. My Android device is rooted. The latest (premium trial) version of MalwareBytes notifies me of this. It's an understandable warning the first time it appears, and could be useful for a user who was not aware that their device was rooted. But the notification appears repeatedly, more than once an hour. That is less useful. Is there a way to prevent the notification from recurring? Is there something in my set up (other than the fact that my phone is rooted) that causes this notification to recur?
  6. Hello, I have disabled both Web protection and Exploit protection in version 3.0.6.1469 on two computers with Premium licenses for home use. Since I have these two components disabled, I get a notification now and then alerting me to components that I as a user have disabled through the management interface for MB. I can't seem to find any options to disable the notifications regarding components that have been disabled. These notifications are understandable in case those components have been disabled per malicious vectors, but in this instance I have disabled them on purpose and would like to choose to not have these notifications ruining streaming/gaming sessions (well, what actually happens is that the notification takes focus so that the game is interrupted at which point most of the games will interrupt and crash to desktop). Q: How do I go about having these notifications disabled both at home and for the computers at my organization as well? Q: Can't these notifications be integrated into the Windows 10 notification system instead which works fine? Q: If it's not possible, then could the community possibly help me out with alternatives that do provide the option to disable certain components? Thanks Nick
  7. I refer to this important post. When will be not annoyed with notifications for choices we made? 3 years on still NOT FIXED. The best is to disable services and run only 'on a need basis'. Anyone telling you about ransomware as a reason to keep? Its just to keep you freightened and adhere this intrusive bad behavior of Malwarebytes & Co. Make backups the old way and use sense. SHOULD you really get it, get back to backup. If it aint broke DONT FIX IT, opposite here. Its broke for year...
  8. I could swear that somewhere in the Settings of the paid version of MB 3.0, either in the "Application" or "Protection" sections is an option to turn off the suggestion to "Reboot Now" (or whatever the verbiage is) after a routine scan but I can't seem to locate it at the moment. As far as I know this is separate and distinct from the "Close Notifications After X Seconds" section under the Application tab. Although I know it's generally good practice to do so, one of my clients finds it annoying and wants to turn it off if possible. Any enlightenment here would be welcome.
  9. I also am having this issue with sys tray icon showing updates out of date falsely. Running win 7 sp1 on alianware R4
  10. I'm trying to setup email notifications but the test email will not go through. I've used all the settings that I usually use when setting up email accounts on the computers but it still doesn't want to work. I get the message " Failure sending mail". This is a POP3 account not exchange. Do I need to do something else? Thank you.
  11. W7 ultimate SP1. MB v3.0.6 reports on the taskbar notification area that the database is out of date, however when you open MB the dashboard states that "Awesome! You're protected" and shows that updates are current. Restarting the PC clears the taskbar notification notice sometimes, but it soon returns within the hour. I have uninstalled MB completely, ran CCleaner, rebooted, reinstalled MB but the issue continues intermittently.
  12. Malwarebytes is the best at what it does which is why I'm keeping it in spite of four issues; the issue I need to fix first is the last one. FIRST I get a notification to install a new version every hour or every couple hours. Seriously? You programmers need to give it a rest, you work too hard. Or do I have a bad install? SECOND, even after turning off the notifications under "Settings," I still get notifications. Constantly. Do they reset to their defaults after every restart, or every update, or every reinstall? What am I doing wrong? THIRD, about every two or three days I get a pop-up saying Malwarebytes is turning off my protections. What - I can't go more than 48 hours without reinstalling the whole software? FOURTH, and most importantly, when my protections get turned off forcing me to hit the "install now" on the dashboard, nothing happens sometimes. That's where I am tonight - protections down, recurring notices to install the latest version, and an unresponsive "install now" button. Suggestions? (NOTE: the taskbar icon says my protections are on, but the screen icon dashboard says they're off - as do the pop-ups.)
  13. Hello MBAM team, I am receiving email alerts from a number of false positives on a couple of our servers. I have tried excluding those objects from future scans, and adding them to the ignore list. This has not prevented the files from listing as threats and triggering email alerts. I have redacted any sensitive information in the copy/paste below. What steps can I take to prevent these unwanted false-positive alerts? Thanks!
  14. anti exploit flashes a large notification at the bottom of every new web page. how do I eliminate this?
  15. I was using Skype and even so often I'll get a notification from MBAM that an IP was blocked. I did my research on this and I found out it is because Skype is P2P. These IP address are known for malicious purpose in the past or currently from what I gather. I don't want to disable notifications in general and I have looked at there is no feature that stop notifications in chosen apps/not show notifications. I'd like to suggest, if it hasn't already that there could be a feature for this? Thanks, Lewis
  16. Recently I discovered suspect IP addresses in Web Exclusions field under Settings. I did not put them there knowingly. I have sought advice on this. I have deleted the IP addresses and run MBAM and AV software and do not think I have any infection. My concern however is that the green smiley face and message ... Your system is fully protected ... is inconsistent with the presence of rogue IP addresses in Web Exclusions. I am not a computer expert but have sufficient interest to discover these exclusions and join and post to a forum. I suspect that many (the majority?) of users would be happy to see the smiley face and never for a moment think to check Web Exclusions. Maybe a lot would not even know what an IP address is ... it's true ! Would it be possible to have a regular notification feature in MBAM to alert people to IPs or domains in their Web Exclusions that they might check and delete those that should not be there. OwenS
  17. I left my desktop off for about half a week for travel, normally I would keep it on so that I can let it run and continue folding@home, to contribute to something since my computer is usually always on with a 1-2 hour shut down break weekly. Upon return and start up, Malwarebytes have been popping notification saying database is out of date. So I go ahead and click update multiple times, but to no avail. Always receiving the "No updates available" error. I've attached the necessary diagnostics file. Addition.txt CheckResults.txt FRST.txt
  18. Hello Forum, Can you get Malbytes to notify you when a schedule scan has started. Badcompany.
  19. Can you give us the option to have all notifications remain on the screen until we close them - or - place them in a log we can check when we "come back from lunch" - or - devise some other method to prevent our missing a notification? Thanks!
  20. greetings this all started yesterday night when my laptop showed my system was no longer protected ... then i checked my family's other 2 systems ... i had to do a clean reinstall on mine (win7 - laptop) and i just repeated the process with the other two - (1) win7 desktop, (1) vista64 laptop - the system tray icon shows up and all looks as if it is running normally only on the win7 systems. on my vista64 laptop, i also did a clean reinstall. however, the system tray icon is no longer present (as i have read on other threads) and the system is not on windows start up (msconfig) though the services state they are running. all the appropriate boxed are checked in the program. for now, i have told whoever runs the vista64 system, whenever you start the system, immediate lauch MB and do not minimize as it dissapeares and there is no way to tell if it is running. fix? p.s. - been using MB for years ... years ... this is the first real issue i felt i needed to create an account to list this on the forum.
  21. Hi, I noticed that just about every time I start up or resume my computing sessions, desktop and laptop, the Malwarebytes system tray popup is there first thing, telling me something or other is out of date, with a big bright green button to click to rectify the situation. But I thought the software is supposed to just work on its own, in the background!! :-\ I have the lifetime version, so it's the new Premium Malwarebytes that I have, but it's the old lifetime license -- actually, I purchased a license each for my desktop and laptop -- so I don't think I should have to manually deal with this every day like I have the free version. Please advise!
  22. Today I started getting a notification that says malware bytes blocked access to a potentially malicious website. It's the same website ip address each time (92.242.214.242) I get this notification every few minutes. I have run a full scan but the notification is still appearing. I found this topic in the forums but it says not to hijack an existing thread. 23. I run Malwarebytes on my media pc which also acts as a media server. It would be nice to be notified by email when malware is found to enable me to act on it. Is this possible?
  24. Hi, I apologise if I have started a new topic where I shouldn't have or if I have posted in the wrong place. I am not really great at this whole forum thing! Recently I had a few problems with video playback on my laptop, I was having lots of buffering problems and scratchy sound, the laptop is pretty new so I figured it might be infected because age or general wear and tear couldn't explain this away. Anyway, I ran a full system scan with Malwarebytes, this picked up four infections, all with the same name (I can't remember now what it was) but they were removed and I've scanned since and it all seems to be cleared up. Only, now I am getting a notification all the time : Malwarbytes successfully blocked access to a potentially malicious website: 213.186.33.87 Type:Outgoing Port:57379 Process:Chrome.exe I am getting this regularly, it appears to be when I log into Facebook, which is a site I would have not expected it on. I am not the biggest computer whizz as I'm sure is already apparent and I am hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on this for me! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Rosie
