  1. Very annoying, I was working on PPT and it suddenly shut down saying MWB has detected a generic ransomware and now it won't load properly unless I disable the ransomware protection, log file attached. log.txt
  2. Logs of one of our employees computers attached. Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013, Word and Excel known for sure, but suspect all office application affected. Update Office with latest updates from Microsoft. Update Anti-Exploit to 1.12.1.42/1.12.1.42 Open Microsoft office program of your choice. Write whatever data fancies you. I've been just opening Word and typing 'test.' Attempt to Save As Anti-Exploit triggers a Process Hollowing Protection attack prevention, closing Office and losing all data. Individual machines can be fixed via turning off memory hijack protection for Microsoft Office, however we are a moderate sized organization with a large amount of computers, we would prefer a solution we could mass patch, either through our Malwarebytes Management Console or through our Group Policy. Thank you, ForrestR Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit.zip
  3. I have been having a lot of trouble with Microsoft Office 2016. The programs take a long time to open if at all and then will not save. Sometimes they just hang on the desktop never to do anything. Sometimes I get application error when trying to open or save. I might remove a background from a picture and then want to save that picture but the program just shows a never ending spinning circle. This problem has plagued our computer for months and has been distressing both myself and my husband. We need to use office programs quite often - mostly Word and Excel. Of course we thought that Microsoft Office was to blame and I repaired it locally and then online - but to no avail - the problems remained. Then we thought that our windows 10 must be causing the problems - then I was looking at re-installing that. We use the paid version of Malwarebytes. Last night I was searching the Internet to see if I could find any help with this issue - and lo and behold I found these articles on your forum. I did what was recommended and discovered why Office won’t work properly in Windows 10 – Malware Bytes is the culprit! Once I followed the steps Go to Settings > Protection > Manage Protected Applications Then turn all office apps to OFF Now the Office Programs all work properly like they should do and used to in the past. I am so upset and angry that Malwarebytes has caused these problems with office - we have found this so inconvenient and have been unable to produce needed documents. Why is this happening and why has Malwarebytes not addressed this problem and rectified it after being made aware of it? I have wasted so much time repairing Office and searching the Internet when I shouldn't have had these problems in the first place. Not all of us are technical geniuses and would know to look through all of MB settings and understand what it all means - this program should work easily for any novice and not interfere with other software's functioning. Please let me know when this will be rectified!
  4. I have Malwarebytes Premium. Current version is 3.0.6. It is causing exception errors when I try to open Office Word or Excel application. I am told that Malwarebytes corrected this in version 3.1. My questions is, "Has this been corrected for Premium users as well? if so, how do I update my software?" Thanks
  5. I am using MBARW Beta and recently got a pop-up notice that MBARW had found and quarantined a ransomware attack (I wasn't doing anything in particular at the time, such as browsing the itnernet). Despite the notice, I could find nothing in my quarantine file. Right afterwards, however, I found the short-cut icons for my Microsoft Office products (WORD, Powerpoint, etc) no longer worked and I was completely unable to start these programs. I ended up reinstalling all of the Microsoft programs which now start and run properly. I have a gut feeling that the disconnection of the Microsoft start instructions for these programs was in some way rated to the way MWBARW responded to the "attacks" but I can't be sure. Since there was nothing in my quarantine file I have no way of knowing if I actually experienced a ransomware attack or if this was a false positive.
  6. Hello!!! I am not the typical computer "geek" (sorry for the generic terminology) but I do have a little bit more than just basic understanding of computer systems and operation/performance. That's generally my husband or best friends department. However, as they sit and continue to scratch their head and convince themselves that it may be this issue or that issue, I thought for the best interest of my time and getting our system back to working performance I would ask the professionals. So, not sure when this first popped up but I guess that it was as far out as 2 weeks ago to maybe just a few days ago (having two young girls can have that effect on time.) But, I noticed that our system was continuous running, running really really slow, and acting funny like when trying to type something in the omnibox it would not react right away and I would have to wait sometimes up to over a minute for it to recognize my typing. . Checking task manager to see the processes and the only thing that look out of the ordinary was that chrome was in multiples. I saw Chrome.exe *32 was repeated in excess. Now, not quite sure if this is normal based on the research I've done...some say yes while others say no....but that is the only thing that jumped out at me as something I hadn't seen before. I'm the primary one that cleans the machines and am very familiar with intruders like conduit but after having a little issue maybe a month prior and thinking I was successful in cleaning it, we haven't had any problems for awhile now. I have ran Malware. spybot, registry cleaner, etc within the last 3 or 4 days a couple handful of times. With each scan coming back with something to report and clean but having no impact on the performance of my computer. My computer still acts the same way. Having the thought that my system should be at least stop running by now with all the scans and reactive steps I have taken but to no avail my computer's fan continues working overtime. I have shut it down periodically over these last few days but I use my computer all day and into the night for my business and research. Please help me with shedding some light on this? Thanks so much for any assistance or suggestions....Please see below the two reports as mentioned in the "Hello and welcome..." forum. 7. Hope someone can help me please...long story but! I bought my laptop off the company who made me redundant, so had all the programmes, anti virus etc. Anyway, laptop started switching itself on and off the other day so I thought I would be clever and do a system restore. Trouble is, I did a whole system restore rather than go to a previous date. Now have none of the programmes, files etc. The main thing I want is to restore my wireless internet connection. I've searched but can only find updates. Can anyone tell me how to find and download the wireless driver for an HP Compaq 6715s please? Thanks, in anticipation!!
