  1. Hi, When viewing the error log on one of our customers Windows 7 PC's it appears MBAMService.ex is causing the issue. Is there a fix available please? The PC is running Windows 7 Pro, service pack 1 and Malwarebytes Premium 3.6.1 I've attached files for you. SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip error log .doc PERFMON output.zip
  2. I have been trialling MB and have just purchased the Home Premium version. MBAMService sits at a near-constant 13% CPU - why? What is it doing? The scheduled scan is not due to run until 2am (it is now 8pm) and a full manual scan was done days ago. Ihave not been installing any new s/w or any such thing. Windows 7 Ult x64, Firefox and PaleMoon browsers running, with Thunderbird - AND Avast. I am not clear as to whether MB makes Avast unnecessary or if the two can - or can not - be running at the same time. MB 3.3.1.2183, fully up-to-date. Thanks in anticipation.   3. Hi. While using my computer today, my computer suddently froze. I had to power it down by holding the power button. When I rebooted, Real Time Protection on Malwarebytes wouldn't start properly (it just says "starting" and never completes). Also, in Task Manager, I'm noticing the process called MBAMService.exe is using multiple gigabytes of RAM, and keeps rising up. I've seen it up in 10GB RAM usage, but I always end the process before it gets any higher. I tried running scans on Malwarebytes, Windows Defender and AVG, all being able to successfully perform the scan, but they do not detect anything. I uninstalled Malwarebytes and tried installing it again. After entering the MB License, causing the Real Time Protection to attempt starting, the high RAM usage starts happening again. I then tried running mb-clean to re-install Malwarebytes. Doing this changed nothing. At this point I have Malwarebytes uninstalled until I have something else to try out. I really do not notice any other oddities on my computer. With it uninstalled everything seems fine, but I obviously want MB up and running again, and also I'd like to find out if there is anything else strange happening on my PC. Please come with some suggestions or instructions on what else can be done or checked to resolve this. I can provide more info if it is requested. Thanks in advance!
  4. attached are screenshots of process explorer. mbam800megs shows mbamservice sucking up about 800mbytes just a few seconds after manual start. about 30 seconds later, mbamservice is now sucking up about 3 GIGABYTES of ram another 30 seconds later mbamservice is now sucking up about 5 GIGABYTES of ram. This is highly unusual. I've never experienced issues like this with malwarebytes. This just started happening this morning, about 2 hours ago. If I let it go for a few minutes, it will suck up all memory and eventually bring Windows crashing down. This happened repeatedly. Only other symptom is that the website protection has been turned off, and won't turn on. I've disabled Windows defender (because it used to suck a heck of a lot more than MBAM ever did... before today.) I have an actual license for malwarebytes premium. HEEELP!!!   5. Hello - this file belonging to malwarebytes uses waaaaaaaay too much memory - 271,2841k right now - way more than the program I'm running. I saw a couple of previous threads discussing this memory hog, but didn't see a resolution, work around, or any real answer that I'd feel comfortable doing. I have like 16gb of memory on this laptop, but I do play a memory-intensive game and wonder if I can safely disable it while I play or if there are any other suggestions to reduce the super huge size of this file. Please advise and thanks.

I am experiencing the same issue in both Windows 10 Pro as well as Windows 7 Pro. 64bit MBAM Version 3.1.2.1733 Component Version 1.0.122 Update package 1.0.2108 I have seen this on multiple clients with Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 or 14 or 14MP1 I am guessing it hangs after the automated scans runs at some point. What happens is I can no longer Open MBAM 3.1.2 although it is still running - The Program box will not come up. I then have opened services.msc on both Windows 10 and Windows 7 and the Service will not Stop, I have tried restarting the Service or just stopping it and it gets hung stopping. The only way is to restart the computer to get everything unlocked. This is happening on multiple machines with Windows 7 and Windows 10 and Symantec installed. It seems to work for a few days and everything is fine then decides to not allow you to open the program anymore. I have also tried Right Clicking on the MBAM Tray ICON which goes away but then locks up the service again trying to STOP. Any Ideas ?? Thanks

Hello Malwarebytes Forums, I am not sure if this issue has already been reported or known about, but I would like to report an issue regarding the high CPU usage and memory the process MBAMService.exe uses in the premium version of Malwarebytes 3.0. The issue is, everytime you use your web browser, whether it's the web browser loading web pages for example, MBAMService.exe would just hog the CPU usage until the the web browser is complete loading the web page you wanted. This is possibly due to the Web Protection feature in the Malwarebytes 3.0 program, maybe? Anyways, this kind of CPU usage behavior MBAMService.exe is doing can really stress and/or strain a computer with a dual-core only CPU if anyone here is still using those kinds of CPU's, because you have the web browser using the CPU when it's loading web pages, and then you have MBAMService.exe hogging the CPU as well until the web browser is complete loading the web page, making the dual-core only CPU briefly go up to 100% CPU usage. I have Malwarebytes version 3.0.5 installed on this computer, and this CPU Usage issue is still happening on 3.0.5. This never happened at all when I was still using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware version 2.2 on this computer before I upgraded to the new Malwarebytes version 3.0 program, and I hope that this issue can get fixed. Here is a picture of Windows Task Manager in Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit (my laptop computer, with a dual-core only CPU) showing the MBAMService.exe process doing it's high CPU Usage work while Mozilla Firefox, (my main web browser that I use) is loading web pages. There are no scans or updating being ran while doing this. This is between both the web browser, (Mozilla Firefox) & MBAMService.exe. Thanks, - sfermani1996
  8. @Perplexity While I don't have the memory issue, I too am unable to turn off self-protection. For service memory, a temp fix would be to go into services and "Restart" Malwarebytes Service. While that doesn't solve your issue, it may give some temporary relief.
  9. Hello, I have been letting off posting on the forum in hope of it being fixed in version 3.0.6 however I was disappointed to find out that my issue has been made better but not resolved. I have detected in my testing atleast that the MBAMService in some instances when running with a default configuration and the protection elements on as I am running Premium that the RAM Usage is getting very high. Now when I turn off my computer everyday the usage of the MBAMService is not getting much higher than around the 100MB which is fine and I accept that. However when I do not turn off my PC (I do turn off my monitors) it instead goes into sleep and lock automatically when I start the computer back up again the next day the MBAMService consistently uses more and more RAM until eventually I am unable to work on it and need to perform a restart of the machine to get it back to the 100MB for the rest of the day. The computer specifications: CPU: Intel Core i5, 3.4Ghz RAM: 8GB RAM OS: Windows 10 Pro version 1607 (OS Build 14393.693) MBAM: 3.0.6 I thank you in advance for your attention and apologize in advance if I may reply late to this thread as I am working
  10. @dcollins I just tried to upgrade from 1458 to 1469, and once again got an "access denied code 5 error" when the installation routine hit the MBAMService. This same behavior was seen when I upgraded from Version 3.0.5 to Version 3.0.6.1458. This time I did disable MBAM Self-Protection before starting the upgrade. In both instances, the anit-virus scanning modules of Bitdefender 2017 Total Security were disabled. When I went to "Services.msc" under elevated command prompt, the MBAMService was showing as "stopping" and nothing could be done, except right-click, select Properties, and set the service to "Disabled" and then reboot. Once I did that, I was able to upgrade my version of MBAM to 1469, which is how I resolved it the first time. I will see whether this behavior occurs on my laptop when I have it on tomorrow.   11. I'm user of MBAM and I'm using since some weeks MBRansomware Beta. I've noticed that two services are simultaneous running: MBAMService and MB3Service. Are they same services ? Is only one of two useful because the system informs that two identical services work together... Thanks. Best regerds.
  12. Hi folks, I'm a veteran user of Malwarebytes Antimalware and both using since the initial release on my ancient Windows XP SP2 (not SP3 for private reasons) and Windows 7 SP1. I have MBAMService on my Windows 7 as it should be, BUT on my Windows XP SP2 32-bit box, the MBAMService is missing on "services.msc" service list, but the file is present on "C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware" physically. I'm using Free (Home) edition currently with 2.2.1.1043 version. Although MbamService is missing in "services.msc" service list, the program runs just fine including "rootkit scan" and gives no error. Here are the screenshots, why is this? I appreciate for the comments, thanks in advance!

I'm using a fresh install of MBAM, have set exceptions in AV (and tried turning them off), however mbamservice won't run, preventing me from loading MBAM at start-up or using the real-time protection.   14. Hello there, i have been informed that i am infected, so there are files and link to original post here. I want to add just that it happens by random. Can't predict it by myself.   15. I've been getting lots of BSOD's using any browser on a W7 home premium system (IE 11, firefox, chrome). It is intermittent. Sometimes it happens quickly; other times I can go for a while before it hits. The OSR online crash analyzer of the x0000003b (system_service_exception) 00000000c0000005 (exception code) says PROCESS: mbamservice.ex and points to a module name of TCPIP and IMAGE NAME of TCPIP.sys. I have a W7 pro system and don't have the problem on this system. This is where I am entering this post - I wouldn't even try to do it on the W7 home premium system because I probably wouldn't get through it without a BSOD. MinidumpAnal-20140920.doc
  16. These past few days i have noticed that MBAMService is not running at startup. Instead I am having to go to Services and start it manually. Yes, it is set to automatic, but for some reason it is not running a startup. Any suggestions?
