  1. Hi everyone! I'm really concerned about this because spite of my efforts I no longer know what to do to remove this plague from my PC! Scans from Malwarebytes AdwCleaner detect Pup.Optional.Mail.Ru on my PC. However, after trying to remove it the report says the threats could not be removed. It seems to be in Chrome (which I never have installed). The thing is Chrome was uninstalled a serveral weeks ago... Other antispywares not even detect it. I really appreciate any help. My OS is Windows 10 - 64 bits. Attached a report of the scan. After choosing "Clean and Repair" from the Main Panel Wind
  2. I got the Mail.ru adware virus recently, and Malwarebytes free removed 166 files related to it. However, it failed to remove the Mail.ru updater, which ran every time I started my computer. It was in the local appdata folder, and I deleted it manually and it hasn't run since. How can I be sure that the virus isn't also hiding other places and that Malwarebytes actually removed it completely?
  3. Hi, I recently downloaded some harmful software and after using Malwarebytes I removed the majority of it. I have already performed multiple Threat scans using Malware bytes, the first of them removing a large number of malware and other PUPs. However, on startup I get the CMD prompt popping up saying that it's trying to download something similar to the image below. Every 3 hours I got the CMD popping up again. Along with this, Malwarebytes consistently blocks (thankfully) an outward connection(using svchost.exe) as shown in the outward report log. I have attached
  4. I used Zemana antimalware and malwarebytes, browser popups were gone and for a short time cpu usage was also lowered, but after restarting cmd.exe is still opening randomly and sending data.
  5. Hi! I'm having the same problem at the momment, tried a lot of removal tools already but it starts re-downloading via CMD over and over again...
  6. Hi, whenever I restart my computer, CMD will open and begin transferring files, I have tried scanning with malewarebyters and I now find nothing, though I did yesterday. Can someone please help with this? FRST.txt Addition.txt
  7. The title describes it all, every 30 minutes my cmd opens (if I close it) and starts downloading the archive on the annex: I don't know what else to do... I've ran the FRST tool and I'll follow up with the log, please help me! My CPU usage simply Skyrockets whenever the cmd finishes the download, making it so that I have to keep resetting the PC very often, it's really annoying. 8. I have this malware on my computer where every 10 - 15 minutes chrome (even if not already open) opens up a new tab with malware on it. This has occurred after having some extension and programs named Mail.ru. FRST.txt Addition.txt MB-CheckResult.txt
  9. A Malwarebytes scan found the infection PUP.Optional.MailRu (3 instances, all registry keys) and PUP.Optional.ByteFence (5 instances, 2 registry keys, a registry value and 2 files). A search online of PUP.Optional.MailRu found this forum thread: Additional reading here suggested I should not let Malwarebytes clean the infection but rather follow steps outlined in the thread linked above. I have downloaded and ran the 64 bit version FRST64.exe and ran the scan. The files FRST.txt and Addition.txt are attached. I am running a Windows 10 64 BIT PC. Any assistance would be great
  10. I've tried everything so far and I know that at the minimum I have Mail.Ru which is a browser hijacker and a registry editor. I thought I got rid of all of it in my registry, but it still keeps popping up! Darn thing creates new tabs with adds but ONLY on chrome for me. It seems to have come in with a free keygen software I got a few weeks ago. Please help me!!!!! I want this gone so I can use Chrome again!
  11. Good evening. I've become infected with a russian browser hijacker known as "smartinf.ru" and/or "Mail.Ru." I've scoured all night for answers for this (including here), and while some helped, it seemed to not completely erase the problem. I have scrubbed away seemingly all traces from add-ons and settings from my browsers and refreshed them, deleted/uninstalled suspected files upon detection, even scanned twice over... but still, somehow, it still automatically opens its homepage by itself with my default browser (firefox) every time I restart. Which I must infer means that this malware is
