  1. So it seems I have some sort of malware on my Google Chrome on Mac. I'm pretty new to this so please bare with me. For example When I search a random search in Google Chrome this URL briefly shows: http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.operativeeng.com%2Fcps%3Fq%3Dwhere%2Bare%2Byou%26_pg%3DD5AF862B-7C24-5787-AF3D-AEAFF9F8B205 I am then redirected to Yahoo's search engine even though Chrome had always been my default. When I go to Chrome settings I see this search engine listed but there is no remove option. Chrome://management shows my computer is b
  2. I keep getting a URL:Mal threat secured notification from my Avast antivirus software. When I run I scan using Avast, it picks up no virus, malware or suspicious threat. When I run a scan in malware bytes it also picks up no malware, viruses or threats. How do i remove this? I am running mac. The threat keeps coming up as being from the following links i have i have never been on before: upd-pct.info/ or pctupd.info/ . I did some research on this, and found out it is coming from PopcornTime which is a P2P app for watching movies. I immediately deleted the app and all its contents but the pop
  3. Hello! I am on my Mac and I am reviewing the installations on System Info and I see two dates that call my attention, on May 4 2020 and April 13 2020, I didn't installed Malwarebytes on those dates and it's reported as if I had when I didn't. I first installed Malwarebytes on March 12, 2020 and on May 18, 2020 but not on this previously mentioned dates. Why is it reported this way?
  4. Alright, I have many questions, but the main one is in the title: Is it safe to send my MacBook Pro for repair to Apple while having files on quarantine by Malwarebytes? Can I also make a backup just in case while having those files quarantined? My other two questions are whether I should delete the files that are deemed as malware. I would share the names, but I spilled water on my MacBook and I'm waiting around 48 hours so it dries and I can use it again. Lastly, Malwarebytes detected 28 suspicious files, 27 of them were quarantined, but one of them was not. Am I safe? What should I do?
  5. Hello everyone! I have scheduled analysis for every day at 11:00 am but I've noticed that sometimes Malwarebytes does those analysis at different times and still reports it like "scheduled analysis" For example, today I turned on my Mac at 10:30 am and it did an analysis at that time even though it's scheduled for 11:00 am, it has happened also if I turn my Mac on after 11:00 am. is this normal?
  6. Hello! I deleted my trash the other day and has happened to me twice that some random files re appear in trash after deletion, does this have to di with malware or just a simple bug?
  7. Hello everyone I downloaded an ran the malwarebytess support tool for Mac and sent the resulted file MWB_info.zip to my advisor but my question here is what this zip file contains? If it puts my personal information in danger(not baceuse of malwarebytes but if someone else sees it idk maybe if they hack my email or something su I am just curious)
  8. Hello everyone! I just found a new folder on my Mac named DES on my Mac library it has different items but some of them say last modification was on December 31, 2020 at 18:03. It seems to be an apple folder because some files have apple name on them, for example one is called com.apple.reminders.des. I am worried about what this folder might be and if it's something weird.
  9. Hello, I just had an issue with Malwarebytes and had to uninstall it and download it again, now it's all good but I've noticed that during the scans it analyzes always the same number of elements when before I uninstall it it analyzed always different number of elements (sometimes 8000 or sometimes 6000) but now it is always 6654, is that any normal?
  10. Some weeks ago I realizad my Malwarebytes date is wrong. On "next scan" it says 01/01/21 and last scan says it was on 31/12/20. In the little icon at the top of the Mac screen says that scans are being done daily but when I check reports I can see that suddenly scheduled scans are not being performed. I deleted the app and downloade it again and I think it's working fine now but I still would like to know why this happened, I am a bit worried. Thanks
  11. I installed Malwarebytes and removed the required fixes. After rebooting I couldn’t connect to the internet. I checked online to regarding various fixes and still no luck. I uninstalled the Malwarebytes software thinking that was the problem. I need help.

  16. Hi I have a problem where I cannot see the contents of the window for chrome, safari or app store (white or light grey) so ran Malwarebytes and had same problem for the report screen so cannot see the report to fix the problem - I am on El Capitan
  17. I'm trying to activate real-time protection on my iMac. I couldn't do it before upgrading to Catalina this morning. And now I've upgraded and I still can't see the Allow button even in Catalina. Screen shots below. It doesn't offer an Allow button.
  18. Malwarebytes Premium v. 3.9.23 dramatically slows down the startup process on my Mac (MacOS Mojave 10.14.6) unless both "Real-Time Protection" features "Ad Block" and "Malware Protection" are unchecked prior to startup. This issue only started with version 3.9.23. With the features unchecked, startup on the Mac is quick -- under 20 seconds from turning my machine on until reaching the Login screen. With Real Time Protection engaged prior to startup (both Ad Block and Malware Protection checked), it takes 3-4 minutes to reach the Login screen. However, on my MacBook Pro running High Sierra
  19. I recently noticed that with the latest update of Malwarebytes for Mac(Version 3.5.27) the default monthly scan is no longer active as it was intended to be for free users. I saw it first happen on my MacBook and when i upgraded Malwarebytes on my iMac i was able to confirm that the 'Default Scan' in the "Scheduled Scans" is not activated by default... I assume this is this either intended behavior or a glitch with the latest update that need a quick patch, as it happened on two of my mac devices... but i do believe that the free users of Malwarebytes are allowed to use a free monthly s

  22. Hi there, I'm new here and looking for some help (I'm not sure if this is the right place, so if it's not please point me where I need to go). The homepage on my Safari has suddenly changed to http://localhost/?"\ and I'm unable to change it back to Google. I'm running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 on a 2016 MacBook Pro. I've removed WeKnow adware (infected via Chrome) from the same computer months ago but have no other symptoms other than the homepage issue now. I 've had Malwarebytes installed/updated for years now and it's returning zero threats. I only updated my OS three days ago so I'm not s
  23. Hi there, Is there any ability coming or presently in Malwarebytes for MAC that allows custom scanning of other disks, such as an external drive or other internal drive? This would benefit greatly. Consider it feedback if it's not there!
  24. My 1-year old Mac Air laptop was massively hacked on 3/28/19. I’ve figured out how it happened and it disguised itself as a source for published medical papers. It made its debut by shutting my laptop down and when I restarted it I couldn’t use google as my safari search engine despite it showing in system preferences. All searches were directed to Yahoo! and the sites there weren’t authentic. I couldn’t even get on Apple support. I believe the malware may have gotten in through my gmail as that account was seriously affected. The more I tried to figure out what was going on by going by sea
  25. My wife's MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) running Yosemite (10.10.5) had its Chrome browser hijacked by "Search Encrypt" 3 days ago. I spent the evening following online recommendations: 1) removing the offending extension or app - NONE FOUND 2) within Chrome "Restore settings to their original defaults" - DIDN'T WORK 3) Remove Chrome and various files & pref's from Library; 3A) Downloaded and ran Malwarebytes - Didn't find anything 3B) and then download and do fresh install of Chrome. - This worked - UNTIL she re-synced bookmarks, etc from her Google account.
