  1. When I turn on my laptop I get a black screen with the caps lock key flashing light and red light on wifi key and the fan is running. I replaced the round battery in the laptop thinking that might be the problem but still the black screen It had the same problem during a malware removal some weeks ago.
  2. So I unfortunately encountered a malware when I tried to download a game from unknown sources. It was the SAntivirus one and it even installed the SAntivirus Lite on my laptop. I detected it and uninstalled the app and after that even used malwarebytes to check for potential threats and quarantined the Trojans and PPUs detected. But my laptop is still slowing down to the point where it takes almost twice/thrice the time to open up application and boot. I would really like someone's help. It you want I am ready to run scans and share the same here. I fear I might not have access to the scan result of when I removed the SAntivirus malware but I will have to check. I am obliged to anyone who helps me
  3. My laptop started to act funny and not load anything but the initial boot up would be fine when this first started. this happened when the screen closed itself after a small drop, ever sense then nothing would load normally even in safe so i did a full factory restore (without backing up anything) and it seemed to work fine until i tried to do a scan that’s when it starts to freeze(around 4m30s it says not responding) and/or get really really slow to the point where it feels unresponsive, other than that every other thing seems to work fine. After a while it does finish the scan (usually 4-6 hours that’s if im not running anything else in the background, if i do that it becomes unresponsive) and either says that there is no problem or that not everything was scanned. I know that some time back i did have some virus that said fbi something but after a system recovery and running MBAM in safe mode i haven’t had a problem until this. Is there anything that i can do to fix this issue? Some posts say it’s a virus others that i need a new hard drive im kind of lost b/c everything works until i try to scan. Any help would be greatly appreciated I’m running Windows 7
  4. Hi, My laptop started behaving strangely last week - wouldn't boot up, kept freezing (could move mouse but not select anything) ctrl-alt-del wouldn't work during a freeze, basically had to force close each time. I tried system restore and chkdsk, it found a couple of errors ans solved the problem of booting up but laptop was still freezing regularly. I googled the symptoms and Malwarebytes was recommended so I installed it and tried to run it - each time I try to scan (quick or full) it freezes when it gets to Temporary Internet Files either at the folder Content.IE5 or a folder called Antiphishing. The system is running Micrososft Security Essentials so I followed you instructions to avoid a clash between this and MBAM. I also followed your advice in FAQs Section L (scan in safe mode, defragment etc.) with no luck. Aways freezes when I attempt to to backup, clean up or defragment the volume. When I force close and reboot the Active Desktop error message appears. OS is XP As a last resort I tried deleting the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder but guess what, it froze.... Is there anything at all you can suggest? Many Thanks Joanne
