FYI I had to upgrade my KVM virtual win 11 system to os 22533.1001 frs-prerelease with the Insider Program to stabilize my WSL2 Ubuntu-20.01 configuration. My malwarebyte version is 184.108.40.206. My system continuously reboots after 20-30 min idle time. After disabling malwarebytes, my system is stabilized.
We have received a handful of reports of Compatibility Assistant within Windows 10 telling users "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware doesn't work on this version of Windows." See Windows 10 build 14965 and Windows 10 build 14971. We are seeing the following: MBAM 1.75 EXE fails with compatibility warning MBAM 1.8 EXE (Enterprise build) fails with compatibility warning MBAM 220.127.116.113 EXE fails with compatibility warning MB 18.104.22.1685 EXE installs properly At this time we do not have a workaround for those installers which are failing. We are in contact with Microsoft and have requested a fix and explanation of why they are blocking the MBAM installers. Just to assure you, we have over 20 million users running MBAM under Windows 10 without a problem, so we are perplexed at why Microsoft is blocking MBAM at this time. If you run into this, please share your findings here. We will continue to monitor and will update this threat as we find out more information from Microsoft.
Well, after upgrading my Windows Insider Preview to the latest build 14959, I took a chance and fired up Malwarebytes, which had been crashing the previous three Insider Preview builds. It invoked successfully and immediately detected that Malwarebytes database was (obviously) out-of-date and DLed the latest database. It then did a quick scan and terminated normally to sit in the taskbar. So I guess Microsoft has finally the problem with AVs - At least with Malwarebytes. Not sure about Kaspersky or Norton though. Besides my MS Win-Defender, I just run Malwarebytes.
