  1. a popup started to come on my google screen saying flash was going to be deleted or something like that, and i tried to play a flash game online so i downloaded it, and i think that might be what gave me a virus because i didn't download anything else, today i tried to scroll down in google and my zoom was set as my scroll so i couldn't scroll down, and my keybindings were all messed up, most letters didn't even work and some just sent me to my history by just clicking a letter. so I couldn't type in google, or in my search engine to restart my PC. i kept trying to scan through malware bytes and it came up with a potentially unwanted program every time, and then closed google, i tried to see what might be harmful in downloads but when i looked there was nothing there and then it quickly had a popup saying that download history was deleted undo? but i couldnt click it. I managed to get into settings and reset and i seem to be able to type and stuff now, but malware bytes still detects it and closes google every time i scan it, it comes up in the Heuristic Analysis. and google still doesnt detect anything when clicking "clean up computer" in settings.
  2. Hi Guys, I am recentky starting to see my CPU usage spiking to 70 80% for no reasing I have the latest malwarebytes premium 3.8.3 and ran a full system scan and everything seems to be fine however, when I checked in the task manager there is this elevation_service.exe sometimes comes up as chrome elevation service hammering my cpu and slowing it to the point where it takes a good 30 seconds to open a folder only. I have googled and found out that it has to do something with Google Chrome update service. But, after following a tutorial I that I will include here for reference it does go away however, after reboot it comes back? ** It does actually drive me crazy But I cannot figure out what it is, I have located the file and it is in my Chrome folder which freaked me out as I have a lot of saved passwords in Chrome and history synced any chance this is a virus or just my Window is going mad? I am running Windows 10 Pro. I have tried going into safe mode and deleting it from there too, BUT when I boot normally it is there again and it only comes backup as soon as I fire up chrome again, please do excuse my English grammar. Any help is appreciated, thank you.
  3. I have an old Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 3) that is now unable to perform System Restore on ANY restore point. This computer uses a dial-up connection to connect to the internet and normally has a speed of 44.0 - 45.2 kbps, but now only connects at 24.6 kbps. Here's a list of events and the dates they occurred on. Sorry for the length of this post. February 21st: - Updated Avast Virus Definitions in the early afternoon. I turned off the computer after updating. - Turned on the computer in the evening, and the dial-up connection window appeared on start-up, prompting me to connect to the internet. This doesn't normally happen. February 23rd: - Ever since the 21st, every single time I turned on the computer, the connection window would pop-up on its own. - I checked the Avast Antivirus settings, but I already had it set to manual updates instead of automatic, so that couldn't be it. - I haven't installed anything new, so I don't know what was prompting the computer to connect on its own. February 24th: - I used System Restore to roll-back the settings to the February 15th restore point. - The problem was resolved! The computer stopped trying to connect to the internet on start-up. April 21st: - Completed a Full System Scan with Avast. - When connecting to the internet later in the day, I could only get a speed of 24.6 kbps. - I tried disconnecting and redialing for my usual speed of 45.2 kbps, but I keep getting 24.6 kbps. April 24th: - I'm still only getting 24.6 kbps. - Checked the phone line, it's working normally (no background noise), and everything is plugged in securely. - I assumed something in the settings must have changed, so I tried to use System Restore again. - When the computer restarted after using System Restore, I got this message "System Restore did not complete successfully. No changes were made to your computer." - I tried again using other Restore Points, but it fails no matter what date I choose. - I restarted the computer in Safe Mode, and still all Restore Points fail. - I try to sign-in to my Google Account to email someone for advice, and I get this message "The browser you're using doesn't support JavaScript, or has JavaScript turned off. To keep your Google Account secure, try signing in on a browser that has JavaScript" - JavaScript is already enabled. I tested it with another Google account and was able to sign-in without any problem. It is only this account that isn't working. So to sum it all up, these are the 3 problems: 1) Internet Connection speed is now consistently slower at 24.6 kbps instead of 45.2 kbps. 2) System Restore fails no matter which Restore Point I choose (even on Safe Mode). 3) Google doesn't detect JavaScript when I try signing-in with my account. Any help you can provide would be appreciated, - T-Ruth
  4. Google has just invited anyone with the skills to start a massive hacking campaign through Android OS. Plain & simple!! 👎 Malwarebytes has been crippled on the Android OS now. Scanning app's & incoming online material is only a third of what this Company does for any & every customer of the mobile type. Think about it as though the Spam phone calls & text/SMS are also being watched & guarded from hacker's. Thereby the other ⅔ we get with our subscription. Basic search using any choice of browser will show almost any app/apk found on Google Play, can be downloaded elsewhere. Google wants to be in control of everything. So isn't it possible to start offering the same subscription to the service without Google Play? 🤔 Some subscriptions are only offered on the "Developer's" website. Here on Malwarebytes site we can access our subscription & make changes already. So why can't we get updates from the site as well & keep the service without any Play Store? As contracts might be involved, a lesser secure version could still be aquired on on the Play Store. Before Christmas, there were even "fake" sale's of a # of security services, including Malwarebytes! Google was for a few redirecting to those phony site's even! By going to the source itself just ensures that it is indeed a genuine service. Actually can Google Play Store even claim such? 🤔 How many removals took place on "that" secure & regularly inspected site over... the last month? How many going back since the last major update across their domain? 🤔 1 Page is by far easier to copy & manipulate to pass for the legitimate. Usually through the ad's & additional byte's of data being used as camouflage. Even through a JPEG file if not mistaken! Yet given the # of changing pages & redirect through the categories of Malwarebytes.com it's going to take more than a simple hack of any who are into that sort of practice. 0 ad's to hide in/with & directly from the source is a step towards a global episode. Brought on by 1 company that seeks to rival a certain social media site while playing with whatever is left of a free internet! Android OS is a large # & now stand's only partially protected 😱
  5. Hello everyone, I just read this article and got a little worried: https://www.howtogeek.com/fyi/bing-is-pushing-malware-when-you-search-for-chrome/ I have three quick questions that I hope someone could help me with: 1. If you actually run that phony installer, will it still act as the official installer? As in everything will act normally but you actually have a hidden malware in your Chrome? 2. If I installed Chrome a while ago, how can I check that my installation is genuine and not a fake Google Chrome? I don' have the installer anymore. 3. Would a Malwarebytes scan detect a bad installation? I ran a scan and it didn't find anything. Thank you and have an awesome day!
  6. Hello all, I have recently noticed that Google Chrome browser version 68.0.3440.84 (64 bit) has been displaying periodically a message that my Malwarebytes version 3.5.1.2522 needs to be updated or removed due to it being incompatible. So I disabled the Chrome Browser settings in the advanced protection area of Malwarebytes as well as the protected applications area to no success so I re-enabled those settings and disabled the web protection and exploit protection and the message is now gone......obviously this is totally unacceptable so I am throwing this out to the forums to see if anyone else has experienced this issue and to find out if a resolution has been found. PS...I also enabled Beta versions and tried to update to a Beta version in hopes of a fix but unfortunately there was no Beta version to be had. PSS......I have also submitted a ticket with the support tool and will post the results to this post if nobody else has posted a resolution by the time tech support resolves my ticket.

  9. Hello, I am wondering how I stop Malwarebytes from shutting down Google every night.
  10. Hello community, i'm facing a weird issue with google chrome. After updating my malwarebytes to version 3.5.1.2522 (component package version: 1.0.374 and update package version: 1.0.5468), i can't open my google chrome. Malwarebytes anti-exploit keeps on blocking google chrome from opening. I uninstalled and reinstalled google chrome, removed all the extensions, deleted profiles, installed Google chrome canary but nothing seems to be working. I also contacted google chrome support forum and followed everything they suggested but nothing works. Could someone help me in fixing this annoying problem please? all other browsers work absolutely fine. below is the report i extracted from malwarebytes when it blocks chrome from opening. regards, Amil Malwarebytes www.malwarebytes.com -Log Details- Protection Event Date: 6/13/18 Protection Event Time: 8:11 AM Log File: 043362cb-6ed9-11e8-bb6b-002186bfd015.json Administrator: Yes -Software Information- Version: 3.5.1.2522 Components Version: 1.0.374 Update Package Version: 1.0.5456 License: Premium -System Information- OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 CPU: x86 File System: NTFS User: System -Exploit Details- File: 0 (No malicious items detected) Exploit: 1 Malware.Exploit.Agent.Generic, , Blocked, [0], [392684],0.0.0 -Exploit Data- Affected Application: Google Chrome (and plug-ins) Protection Layer: Protection Against OS Security Bypass Protection Technique: Exploit ROP gadget attack blocked File Name: URL: (end)
  11. I keep receiving the popup notification for "Website blocked due to riskware". It happens randomly while my browser is open and sometimes when I click onto new sites. 12. I'm having trouble getting rid of some virus that's redirecting all of my google searches to extension.citypage.today and then to a similar bing search. I've tested this with both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge so I believe it isn't browser specific. Regardless I've tried everything I can think of and nothing has gotten rid of it. While I've also tried a couple of other antiviruses, none of them (including Malwarebytes premium free trial) have helped. I downloaded and ran the FRST scan like asked and attached the files. I also attached my most recent Malwarebytes threat scan. It does say it detects several PUPs but I'm 99.9% sure those aren't related to the extension.citypage.today problem since they didn't show up until after (I think i downloaded some antivirus that wasn't 100% trustworthy in my frantic scramble to try to get rid of this virus- not the best decision, and malwarebytes is having trouble getting rid of that too, but I'll deal with it later as it isn't an immediate problem) threatscan.txt Addition.txt FRST.txt
  13. Hi All,I am having an issue where when I do a google search, it redirects to yahoo search, but shows as search.yahoo wajam. I cannot figure out how to remove this. I tried Malwarebytes and it is not picking it up. I tried chrome extensions and wajam is not listed. I removed all extensions and even removed chrome and tried to reinstall. It only affects google search. Anything I can do. This happens on all browsers. I am assuming it is spyware? I have looked at many wajam removal sites, but I do not have anything on my mac that has wajam. Here are some screenshots after google searching the word "test". Then someone suggesting altering my DNS which I tried too. Malwarebytes comes up clean. Please see what a google search for the word test redirects to. It completely changes to wajam yahoo. I do not have any wajam on my computer. Thanks,Matt
  14. Hi, I cannot get to the site swimireland.ie (www.swimireland.ie) as Malware Bytes flags it as having Malware. When google checks it, it says its clear. Can you please check it to see if it is clear as google says? Also, if that is the case, why do you flag it as having Malware? Thanks, Neil
  15. About an hour ago malwarebytes suddenly began flagging a bunch of outbound and inbound processes on my computer as malicious. I ran a scan (which I do every hour automatically anyway) and it found nothing. I made sure my database was updated. I shut off my modem and computer, etc. I tried getting onto the internet with opera instead of chrome, but couldn't establish a secure connection from that browser either. I am only on the internet now because I disabled malwarebytes malware protection. I saved screen shots of quite a few of my errors though not all of them. I just renewed my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Home Premium two months ago and it is version 2.2.1.1043. HELP!
  16. My computer is infected with Adware.Elex.ShrtCln. All the clean-up information is for infected Google Chrome and I do not have Google chrome. Is it possible for a novice to eradicate this virus or should I take my computer to a specialist? Malwarebytes picks up the virus but will not quarantine it.
  17. Today I realised after a malwarebytes scan that I have the babylon PUP infecting(?) google chrome. I have tried many tools including malwarebytes, avast, ADWcleaner, FRST etc to try and diagnose and resolve the problem but with no luck. I (think) I have narrowed the problem down to a single file: C:\Users\"Username"\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Secure Preferences There is a line in this file which sets a startup URL to "http://search.babylon.com/?affID=111434&tt=010712_4&babsrc=HP_ss&mntrId=6e7008aa00000000000090a4dea255ab""http://search.babylon.com/?affID=111434&tt=010712_4&babsrc=HP_ss&mntrId=6e7008aa00000000000090a4dea255ab" I can manually delete this file, but every time I start chrome, it is added again? I have no idea what else I can do so any help will be greatly appreciated
  18. Earlier today I did a stupid, and got myself some weird malware that is hijacking my search bar. It calls itself "chromesearch.today" and has made itself my default search engine, and somehow managed to make it unselectable in the chrome settings menu (making it undeletable according to all the basic guides i could find) and also changed my options for all other search engines to only be "edit" or "remove from list", so i can't just make a different one my default. The way it works is that when I type something into my search bar it first opens up a url for about two seconds that looks like this: https://chromesearch.today/search?q=stop&uid=qTO6G2jchxlsv6NWMga93LlSYmVrItLW4te4w0UfqRmI3B50SmdkAGT36yUbL%2F0yk%2BfVbbtEK3C5rVX%2FslOmPK5e8GuY6CBe&pid=fob (managed to snag a ctrl + c in there) before redirecting me to an extremely fake yahoo knock off that is nothing like the actual thing. The url here is something like: https://dk.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hspart=ima&hsimp=yhs-batch1&p=stop&type=batch1q50000008_nsq with the "dk" being to translate everything into danish, the language my browser was set to when I accidentally installed this. I have run Malwarebytes but it didn't fix the issue, and I'm now looking at a total system reboot if I can't figure out how to get rid of this. Hopefully someone on here can help, because I am officially way out of my depth here! Addition.txt Malware log.txt
