  1. Hello everyone, I just read this article and got a little worried: https://www.howtogeek.com/fyi/bing-is-pushing-malware-when-you-search-for-chrome/ I have three quick questions that I hope someone could help me with: 1. If you actually run that phony installer, will it still act as the official installer? As in everything will act normally but you actually have a hidden malware in your Chrome? 2. If I installed Chrome a while ago, how can I check that my installation is genuine and not a fake Google Chrome? I don' have the installer anymore. 3. Would a Malwarebytes scan detect a bad installation? I ran a scan and it didn't find anything. Thank you and have an awesome day!
  2. My mother recently informed me of invasive pop-ups on her computer, and having had previous experience with Conduit malware, my heart sank :( Sure enough, she somehow downloaded malware, showing up as "Microsoft Office 365 - en-us" from "Microsoft Corporation", "version 16.0.10730.20102". I've run Malwarebytes, HItmanpro, and have Revo uninstaller at the ready, but have not found a site that can tell me how to remove it all, and it's been years since I had Conduit, so my memory's a little fuzzy. The Malwarebytes report is attached below- Please HELP!! malware1.txt
  3. Hello, I searched on internet and on the forums here but cound't find what I'm looking for. I have been using AdwCleaner for a long time, and never found something that couldn't be removed by it. The problem is this: I removed all malware from the computer with antivirus and antimalware software, everything seemed to be running ok, but as soon as I open Google Chrome, it displays the Chrome Cleaner Pro extension/add-on and 3 more unwanted extensions. If I check the computer with AdwCleaner it does detect the malware and removes it but not completely I guess, since after every restart of the PC as soon as Google Chrome is loaded, those "extensions" appear again, AdwCleaner detects them an removes them but as I said, Google Chrome is unusable since it activates those malware programs over and over. So, for now I'm going to remove everything again, remove the "extensions" with AdwCleaner and uninstall Google Chrome to see if that works. If it does I'll post it here but I'm also open to ideas.
  4. After updating Chrome, Adwcleaner detected 2 PUP ... Is this a mistake? Sorry for using Google translate to submit this report. Edit: I've already signed in to multiple Google Accounts on Chrome.

    Is this malware?

Google Chrome keeps opening a second process of itself without a window (there's only the window I have open). If I look in Task Manager, the website on it is things like "Crusty (Insert words)", Facebook login, and about:blank. The second process doesn't close when I close Google Chrome and it reopens itself if I close it even if the other Google Chrome isn't open. I have background sync off and it uses the same file as the Google Chrome process that DOES open a window. I need to know how to get rid of it without removing Google Chrome entirely (yes, I tried reinstalling Google Chrome, it didn't work).
  6. Hi guys, Everytime I open Google Chrome, Malwarebytes blocks an Outbound Connection to hanstrakr.com. This started happening recently, and there's nothing funky going on in my Extensions, Sync, or Search Engine settings. I'm unsure of where it's coming from. Not much is said on it accept that it may be connected to Data Mining, but even those people aren't certain. Below is a list of the most recent Outbound Connection it made. Does anyone know what this is, and how to stop it? --- Malwarebytes www.malwarebytes.com -Log Details- Protection Event Date: 5/21/18 Protection Event Time: 9:16 PM Log File: b32c10ac-5d5d-11e8-851d-54ab3a4722fe.json Administrator: Yes -Software Information- Version: 3.4.5.2467 Components Version: 1.0.342 Update Package Version: 1.0.5194 License: Premium -System Information- OS: Windows 10 (Build 16299.431) CPU: x64 File System: NTFS User: System -Blocked Website Details- Malicious Website: 1 , , Blocked, [-1], [-1],0.0.0 -Website Data- Category: RiskWare Domain: www.hanstrackr.com IP Address: 34.252.20.187 Port: [54498] Type: Outbound File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe (end)
  7. Me too! Just started yesterday, please advise whether we should be concerned and how to proceed.
  8. Hey guys, I'm also having this same problem.
  9. Did the same as coug, removed "Flash Video Downloader´╗┐", installed it again and from now on everything is ok, no more riskware warning . Thanks for the hint!
  10. I recently installed Chrome onto my laptop in order to use a certain website (worldspinner), and Malwarebytes picked up its Web Data and Sync Data as a PUP. Since I have used Chrome in the past this should not be picking up as such, and I have not installed any suspicious/malicious extenstions either. Chrome's PUPs.txt
  11. Every time I google a photo and would like to save it. I click save picture as, and then it goes into my Pictures folder but it saves as a BoBrowser HTML. I do not know how to fix this. I have completely removed BoBrowser by using both the Malwarebytes and by using ADWCleaner. I also have uninstalled and reinstalled Google Chrome and still found no success. I have tried Internet Explorer and this problem does not transfer over to Explorer, but I would prefer to use Google Chrome. If anyone knows how to fix this please help me.
  12. Been having a lot of problems with MWB crashing Google Chrome every time it finishes scanning. It's happening on more than one computer, so it's not just a localized issue. How can I stop this?
  13. Hi, 2 days ago this nightmare started. As always I was doing a scan with Malwarebytes and 4 problems came out: 2 of them have been solved, the others no. Their name is Adware.Elex.ShrtCln and they're located in C:\Users\bruno\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\USER DATA\Default\Web Data. Useless to say that when Malwarebytes delete them, when i restart my pc they return. I've installed a new copy of windows, a clean installation obiviously, and until I haven't reinstalled Chrome, the problem did not show up. Now, what I have to do? Thanks if you will answer, i hope fast because i'm a little bit scared from this, also because google detected some suspicious attempts to acces my account from Russia.. I'm italian so there's a problem I also post a picture of them.
  14. Hi, I have been a Malwarebytes user for about 3 years now I have not been disappointed until now. I decided to do one of my occasional PC scans and for some reason, Google chrome got flagged up immediately. according to Malwarebytes, the file is called "Web Data". something else that's odd is that Malwarebytes refuses to touch it. I had deleted the file manually and malware bytes had not detected anything else but google chrome had signed me out of my account. signing back in and re-scanning had bought the false positive back. this issue also occurs in my college notebook as seen in the images. Is there a solution to this that does not involve having to be kept signed out of google chrome. I don't want frequent popups saying I have malware when it's quite clearly a false positive. 1. Main PC 2. College Notebook
  15. Not sure why but Malwarebytes is closing Google Chrome to clean up a PUP in my Chrome/User Data folder. This is happening at every scan (which I have run multiple times a day) and takes my workflow and shoots it in the face. Not sure what this pup is from (Extension, Theme File, Etc) nor if I can/how to/should I make an exception for this. Thanks :3 mb-check-results.zip omgsthap.txt
  16. Hi Aura I have this problem for 1 week I have followed all the procedure carefully but the deleted malware get back even me often find closed my google chrome Giorgio
  17. Hi, I downloaded a mallicous file which installed several things on my computer in Russian language. There was a 'hijack' file, 'Chromium', 'Smart application controller' and some other malware which I luckily could remove (think so) with malwarebytes. Google Chrome in particular was kind of hacked and still has some issues while opening, like russian pop-ups coming on screen. I think Malwarebytes has already removed the greatest part, but I still find some random russian files or links on my computer which weren't detected by Malware nor Bullguard (my antivirus). Also all my Word/Excel/Powerpoint files are converted to ENC-files. Is this some one-time problem or will it reoccur in the future? The greatest issue opening Google Chrome is still the 'svchost.exe' which gets blocked by Malware. I think there is still some malware disguised in the 'svchost.exe' file. I read it would be then situated in the 'Temp' folder which isn't in my case, it's situated in the System32 folder. I hope you could help me solve this problem... Thank you in advance
  18. Every time I use google chrome once in a while a new tab shows up and have a ad in it. I already follow all steps to remove a malware/adware, and I even reformat my OS hard drive. Please help me.
  19. This one really had me tearing my hair out..... Subsequent to an MB automatic update, two older PC's in the same office, both running Windows 10 32-bit with latest MS patches, began to experience issues with loading the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. In the case of Chrome, it would display boxes for a few different extensions saying they had "crashed." These extensions included Adobe Acrobat and Google Hangouts. I searched the Google forums, and nothing they suggested worked. Then someone suggested Norton AV could be causing the problem. But that wasn't it. It was Malwarebytes. With it completely turned off, the browsers would load with no problems. The fix I finally came up isn't at all optimal, but I had no choice. Went to Settings:Protection:Manage Protected Applications. From there I turned off protection for Chrome and Firefox. It solved the problem on both machines. Both machines had startup pages that pointed to Google. But the site didn't matter. I couldn't access ANY site at all until I made these changes. I haven't seen this issue arise on 64-bit Windows 10 machines and no problems on any of the Macs. I sure don't like the idea of folks surfing the web with no malware protection, but they have to be able to do their work. If anyone knows of a better fix, I would be grateful if you would share it. Thanks!
  20. I've installed Malwarebytes and scanned my Windows 10 PC to remove yourtv.link and wonderlandads adware/malware. I was successful in doing so and deleted all the items on scanning and uninstalled Malwarebytes anti-malware program to buy premium version later. But later when I tried to use google chrome it just closes automatically once it is launched. I've tried to reset, clear the cache and cookies, uninstall/install, changing "default" folder in user data and even tried using google chrome canary only to find all my efforts in vain. I'm unable to carry out my work and need your help to resolve the issue. Please help me..!!

  22. Hello, Someone tried to hack my PC. Installed a number of suspicious software and tools, disabled Windows Defender by a group policy, and there is a virus/malware I can not remove from my system. Once Windows 10 boots this file "g****.tmp.exe/g****.tmp" is automatically generated in the Windows temp folder and every time I end the task/process from the task manager and delete the files they generate again when I restart the Windows and Windows Defender is ineffective to clean my system. I managed to remove most of the suspicious software and tools and turn on Windows Defender. But there are some security issues I need to correct. Could you please help? I think my security issues are similar to "Kevin777" topic. https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/194088-a-tmpexe-files-in-the-temp-folder-malware-or-a-browser-hijacker/ Thank you.
  23. Hey guys, So there is this virus/malware whatever you want to call it which bothers me every time I start my computer. Once windows 10 boots up and I open Google Chrome this random ****.tmp.exe file is generated in the temp folder. I have attached the file in the zip folder if you guys want to have a look at it (Please don't open the .exe file as it may affect your PC too). As soon as the files are created in the temp folder it also starts in processes. Multiple times I have done a clean uninstallation of Google Chrome and installed it back again but after opening and closing chrome 2-3 times again it gets affected (Without even logging in Google chrome and syncing the data). Google chrome starts flickering 4-5 times and when you search for a result it displays the less memory error. Also, it has affected Mozilla firefox too but not Edge and Internet E. When the tmp.exe is working in the process all the search results are showed in cse i.e. google custom search which is annoying as hell. Once I kill the process and delete the tmp.exe file everything is back to normal but the flickering of Google Chrome is still there whenever I open Google Chrome. Any solution for this problem? Have used CC Cleaner, tried full scan in Kaspersky, etc and still no help. In fact, since my Gmail account was logged in google chrome on my PC and Laptop earlier, this tmp.exe has also affected my laptop too. Please Help! Thanks. Temp.zip
