  1. Hi everyone this is my first post! Happy to have found this forum. I'm just starting to learn about malware removal. My main question is should I join AlienVault Open Threat Exchange? I'd like to be able to more easily identify threats that are found on my devices and network. The website is https://otx.alienvault.com . I'd also like to learn how to identify who an IP address belongs to and if it is safe. Below are details related to the malware on my iMac (Mojave 10.14.6. If anyone cares to delve in and comment on any of it, that would be fantastic. Thank you in advance. My Safa
  2. OS: Windows 10 Pro 32 Bit (Updated) Antivirus: Avira Free Antivirus (updated) Firewall: Comodo Firewall 10 (updated) Asus Notebook working. Problem encountered during a simple routine check (other on-demand control / cleaning programs, and the same Avira, have never detected infections). Malwarebytes 3: the threat scan is completed without detecting any infection. Malwarebytes 3: custom scanning, with all available options (and only the disk where the operating system is installed) selected, after about an hour, hangs the computer. The monitor starts flashing and, then, the screen becomes b
  3. I would like to suggest a periodic (weekly?) emailed blog from Malwarebytes to cover all aspects of malware - not just Anti-Exploit but all news that might be helped by Malwarebytes products Occasionally I receive a sales email. On Friday 30-Jan-2015 I received a sales email promoting the capture of the Flash trojan. - I had spent weeks not understanding why YouTubes were suspended - Flash Player has never been reliable but the Malwarebytes "sales email" contained links to more information - now I am better informed, I hope ! How to geek send me a news/blog email at least 3 days per w
  4. I am having a problem with Adobe Flash Player with Internet Explorer 11. The problem is that whenever I visit a website that has content that needs the flash player in order to work, Internet Explorer asks me if it is okay to run the content. When I click "Allow", the page refreshes and I am asked again. I do not understand why it behaves this way because I have all Adobe plugins for Internet Explorer activated. To see the problem that I am having in action, watch this video.
  5. Last couple weeks Firefox and Chrome have been laggy. Slow start ups. Flash crashes frequently. MBAM, CC Cleaner, and Trend Micro found no issues. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. 6. Hello I have encountered a strange problem and not sure i am infected or Not 2 months back I found my cpu usage 100% even though the system was idle. The task manager showed an unknown process named idmcache.exe consuming high amounts of cpu cycles. I have Internet download manager installed(idm) but this process is totally unknown to me. On searching the Internet , I found it to be a malware: http://greatis.com/blog/how-to-remove-malware/idmcache-exe.htm I have eset smart security and Malwarebytes which both failed to detect this. I used Unhackme to get rid of it. The malware appar
  7. Stupid question, but I want to make sure I do this right. I have a Windows Vista computer and I would like to know what format my 32GB USB flash drive needs to be so I can copy some files onto it (Which I hope is the same as backing up). I tried searching on Google but all I could find was how to install WIndows from a flash drive onto a computer... Thank you.
  8. MBAM PRO v. 1.60.1.1000 (database v2012.02.02.08) quarantined a file on 02-Feb-2012 at C:\ProgramData\games.exe that I believe is a false positive. The zipped file, as well as a log file from a Quick Scan run in developers mode, is attached. This file is a Macromedia Flash application and has been on my hard drive since 09-Mar-2011. I installed both WinRAR 4.00 and HP QuickPlay 3.7.7508 on that same date, so I suspect it was part of the HP QuickPlay installation. A previous on-demand Quick Scan two days ago (31-Jan-2012) with database v. v2012.01.31.09 did not flag games.exe as a potential t
