  1. Hello, I distribute a freeware application called AlbumEasy I have recently released V3.8 for Windows and am now receiving complaints that Malwarebytes is not allowing users to run this version of the application. Best I can tell this has not been an issue for prior versions, how do I get my application whitelisted? The latest release of the installation program AlbumEasySetupV3.8.0.exe can be downloaded here https://sourceforge.net/projects/albumeasy/files/ The information I have been given is that the installation program AlbumEasySetupV3.8.0.exe is not flagged but after installation when trying to run the actual application this is the message they get: Malware: machinelearning/Anomalous.100% Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\AlbumEasy\AlbumEasy.exe Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Clive
  2. Hello, just a quick question: Can I set different excludes per policy or per group? Background: I have 1 terminal-like computer setup with Windows 10 shell launcher to launch a custom application and nothing else. Malwarebytes reverts the registry settings of that custom shell. So I set an exclude for that key. As I understand it, excludes are set for the whole environment, which is not the best way imo. Have I missed the setting or is it not possible to have different excludes based on policy or group? If it is no implemented, is it at least planed and on the road map?
  3. Upgraded to MalwareBytes 3.1.2.1733, and decided to remove the hundreds of file exclusions for Advanced system care and UCBrowser and to just put the parent folders of these two programs (in %programFiles%\iobit and %appdata%\iobit, etc). To my dismay, the exclude folder option is broken. It works if you exclude it after a scan but if you try to manually add a folder for exclusion, the Open File dialog box comes up instead of the Select Folder dialog. Without folder exclusions, I get a few hundred files and registry keys to exclude. This coupled with the broken scroll bar makes it very difficult to exclude some wanted programs. On all the MalwareBytes 3.1.2 tabs, the scrollbar does not work as it should. Clicking on the arrows on the top and bottom of the bar moves the screen 1 line at a time as expected but if you click anywhere else in the scroll bar It always moves to the cursor instead of a single page up/down as it should and as it does in previous versions. This makes it very difficult to scroll through to uncheck exclusions when you have hundreds or thousands of Mindspark, spigot, etc you want to leave checked and hundreds of Advanved System Care and UCBrowser that you want to exclude. You really should consider grouping all the like PUPs in expandable/collapsible trees with a parent level check boxes so that you can put in one check mark to select all Mindspark or one check to select all spigot, etc, a bit like SuperAntispyware does it.
  4. Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and I'm here to seek help. I find Malewarebytes very useful because it successfully cured my Chrome problem so I registered for a premium version 3.1.2. Recently I logged in to my college's website to check for results through turnitin. I clicked on the link that led to it but then Malwarebytes didn't allow me to open it. Then I accidentally clicked the 'block pop-up website' option (or something) on the notification board and now I will never be able to see my results again. I tried browsing the forum to find the solution but everything is about managing exclusions, which didn't work. Can anyone help me with this? MANY THANKS!
  5. Is it possible to exclude the PUM object type 'NoSMHelp' from being flagged and removed? Our current policies have the scanner action for PUMs set to 'Show in results and check for removal'. I of course understand that changing the action to 'Show in results list and do not check for removal' or 'Do not show in results list' will exclude it, but this is undesired as we do want PUMs to be logged and flagged for removal; just not 'PUM.Optional.NoSMHelp'. I also understand that we could find the object in the threat list and right-click the object and select 'exclude this object' or manually add it to the ignore list. However, the object itself is going to be for the specific user account, with a unique SID, under which the scanner detected the setting. With this scenario, the exclusion would only apply to that specific user account on that specific machine. The exclusion would not apply to other machines or accounts as the SID in the registry entry would be different for every user on every machine. This is simply unsustainable over time. Even though I am fairly certain this wouldn't work... could editing the ignore list entry to replace the SID with an asterisk work? e.g. HKEY_USERS\*\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\POLICIES\EXPLORER|NoSMHelp Or would simply adding 'PUM.Optional.NoSMHelp' to the ignore list accomplish it? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
  6. Hi. I cannot exclude from scanning c:\windows\system32\mrt.exe in "malware exclusions", MB-aw just doesn't "see" this file. Peculiar; file seems to be normal... Anyone knows how to solve this? Thanks and greetings Biteater
  7. How to ignore scanning of folder redirected by NTFS junction ? I have in My Vista64 Home Premium SP2 folder c:\users\User\Downloads redirected by NTFS junction to E:\Downloads. During scanning of disk C MBAM scans c:\users\User\Downloads what I do not want. When I try to add c:\users\User\Downloads to exclude list, it adds instead of a junction the real target folder E:\Downloads. Until now all is good. But if I trigger next scan, it is scanning all the c:\users\User\Downloads again. I guess something is wrong in way how MBAM treats NTFS reparse points.
