  2. I made an excel spreadsheet that malwarebytes blocks due to an "exploit". All I do to get this is click on a hyperlink. 3. Hi, I have an academic site publicly hosted on GitHub along with downloadable files or tools. One such file is an Excel spreadsheet for tracking time spent working. For some reason my Malwarebytes extension is blocking the file download. It didn't do this before, and I recently had my student club promote it, so of course I would like for it not to be blocked by my peers trying to download it. It says it blocked it because it is suspicious because it has low traffic (see screenshot). This is a new site and also an academic site so I suppose this is normal. The URL is: https://remi-theriault.com/work-tracker.xlsx Let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you!
  4. Hi, we are the vendor of an Excel Add-in; A number of our clients have contacted us about #NAME errors in Excel when using our product. We have tracked it down to MalwareBytes removing our dll to quarantine. This started yesterday. As an example: PUP.Optional.ChinAd 11/9/2020 13:22 Quarantined C:\Users\######\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Capital IQ\Office Plug-in\ciqfunctions.xll Anti-Malware See the attached screen file for another instance for a different client. Please let us know if this can be whitelisted globally and how soon a global whitelist can be implemented. This is a global software product with 50K plus users; we need to address this. Thanks.
  5. Hi Support Staff, I am facing the same issue, I am not being able to open any Excel spreadsheet or file. The red checkbox highlighted on previous thread is also not checked in my configuration. Log attached. Let me know if any further info is needed. Thanks. mbst-grab-results.zip
  6. Client reporting our file is a virus. Please see attached details. Most likely triggered because file contains macros.
  7. I have Malwarebytes Premium 4.2 and it has repeatedly blocked my Excel program. I have read other threads and it seems not to resolve the issue. 8. When the menu tool from Addintools.com - classic menus for office 2016 is installed. (via Office365) When formatting in excel, ie. File/print area etc. The program crashes and delivers the attached message. Can you help to resolve this issue, or allow this tool to be utilized.
  9. When trying to load an Excel file that has been on my Windows 10 PC for years, I receive the message "Exploit automatically blocked." As soon as the message pops up, the file closes. When I scan the file with Malwarebytes, the program does not detect any threats. Nor does my virus scan (McAfee). Assuming the warning is not a false positive, is there a way to clean the file so that I can recover it? Thanks.
  10. After months of blaming Adobe and trying to find solutions, it appears the error I get when attempting to start any MS Office product only happens when Malwarebytes protection is turned on. When I turn off all protection the MS Office products start up fine. The error I'm getting is "The exception unknown software exception (0xe0000002) occurred in the application at location 0x000000007661B802" I have read issues people have had when saving docs but mine happens as soon as an office product is launched. Right now I have completely turned Malwarebytes. Thanks
  11. After loading Malwarebytes Premium (3.0). MS Excel and MS Word will no longer work/start/load. After clicking, it spins for several seconds and nothing, including no error message. This is consistent with MS Office 2010 and MS Office 2016. Uninstalling MB will solve the problem, looking for a permanent solution to continue using MB.
  12. I recently upgraded from my previous version of MB to 3.0.6. I have the premium version. Now I can't open Word, Excel or any of my saved documents unless I quit MB. What's the deal with this. Is there a fix?
  13. Hi! I clicked on a baidu.com link sent to me via skype. It contained my skype name. When the tab started to redirect to another url, I closed it. I have run 2 Avast scans, including a boot-time scan & run Malwarebytes twice & found nothing. However, I have noticed some suspicious behavior: 1. In Excel my mouse sometimes responds in a space a number of cells above where I click the pointer. 2. When I started my computer this morning I noticed the Microsoft Office Upload Notification arrow on the taskbar. 3. Connecting to the internet has been giving more trouble than usual, saying there is no internet connection when others are using it to stream movies. I'd like to be sure I haven't missed anything.
  14. Hi, I'm quite new to this forum. Originally I'm a mac/linux user. Today one of my friends asked me for help. I spent all the day searching and researching. We even tried Avast antivirus, but no success. They have a Windows server 2008 in their small office and have a bunch of files shared on it. Since this morning, all word, excel and pdf files are opened and saved. Last modified date time of them shows that. Their extensions remained unchanged. When trying to open them on any of workstations (Windows 7) a message received saying that file encoding has changed. We even tried to upload them into Google drive and open them using cloud based software. Again unsuccessful. I also tried to use 'open and repair' in Microsoft Word. It didn't work too. Errors screenshots are attached. Thank you for your help in advance!
  15. Since upgrading Malwarebytes Pro from v2.2.1.1043 to v3 I have experienced problems with Office 365 being very slow to start and frequently freezing. I have set up Exclusions in Malwarebytes and whilst Office 365 opens more quickly now it is still very slow compared to what it was lke under v2.2.1043. As a test I have shut down Malwarebytes Pro v3 and that eliminates the problem. I have timed how long it takes to open Excel with and without Malware bytes and here are the results: - Without Malwarebytes: 1.5 seconds With Malwarebytes: 12.7 seconds Presently I cannot work efficiently with Malwarebytes Pro V3.0.6 so I have uninstalled it until you find a resolution to this issue.
  16. I am experiencing a conflict between MWAE and Interactive Broker's (IB) trading application, TraderWorkstation (TWS) and its API. I use an Excel spreadsheet to post orders onto TWS using their TWS API. When I have MWAE turned OFF, I am able to successfully post orders from Excel to TWS for both stocks and futures. However, when MWAE is turned ON, it does not allow me to post stock orders (although strangely it still permits the posting of futures orders). I have checked with IB technical support and they say there is no difference in the way stocks vs futures orders are communicated to TWS, the only difference being the values of the variables being transmitted. Do you have any idea how to resolve this issue? Thank you.
  17. After installing MBAE Excel 2010 Macros hang. The rotating circle indicating Excel activity never goes away. Does not affect Excel 2013.
  18. So all of a sudden Anti-Exploit is shutting down Word and Excel (2013) When i start typing. I can click things in office, but type something on the keyboard and I get Exploit Attempt Blocked! No other information, this did not happen a few hours ago and i am very certain nothing got installed to cause this. It appears to be a false detection to me. Any ideas?
  19. I am running XP Pro with all updates installed. Basically, the hyperlinks in my Excel spreadsheets and Word documents have stopped working and I get a dialogue box saying "Unable to open http://******* (various web addresses). Cannot locate the internet Server or proxy server." The links open OK when I copy them into Chrome. Could there be a setting in the Malwarebytes upgrade that is blocking access to the hyperlinks by the Office programs? Recent upgrades that could have affected the hyperlinks are BT Home Hub 5 with Infinity, AVG and Malwarebytes. Advice appreciated please. Brian
  20. I have an Excel spreadsheet which contains cells which automatically update themselves from a local DDE server. The program has always worked properly until I updated MBAM to version 2 yesterday. Since then, as soon as I enable the automatic update of links in the spreadsheet, Excel shows as not responding. Viewing the problem details shows this: Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. Is there a way to stop it from scanning Excel in real time? Or is there another solution to the issue? As soon as I exit MBAM, Excel starts working properly. All help appreciated, thanks.
  21. Hello, since two days I face an issue when trying to open Excel within my Standard User account - after almost 2 years without problems. There is no difference in double clicking an .xlsx file in Windows Explorer, choosing Excel pinned to the Start Menu, clicking on Start>>All Programs>>Microsoft Office>>Microsoft Excel 2010, or picking the Application file in C:\Program files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14. When doing so, I receive the message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You ay not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." All other Office programs don't show this behavior. After changing the account from Standard User to Administrator everything seemed to work fine, but when turning back being logged on as Standard User the message returns. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Does this sound like a malware infection? Your help is very much appreciated. Cheers, t.
