  1. Sometimes when I scan with Malwarebytes it detects CCleaner as a trojan. Others it doesn't... What is going on here?
  2. This monring, my malwarebytes (Windows 10, v 3.2.2 premium) reported it quarantined Nyetnya on a reboot this am. I'd like to understand if this is likely a false positive or real. the exe file it reports seems to be a program i installed a long time ago (which i purchases a license for. it is a utility for cleaning registry etc - CCleaner from piriform) C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe which makes sense as where i installed it Notes: I don’t know the source or time of the 'infection'. The detection was preceded by an apparent problem finding my user profile on login this am from a Shutdown state when I left home. I started up machine on office network. After another try, I was able to log in, but my desktop was missing. I then followed some instructions (looked up on internet, amounting to copying my desktop folder somewhere) for recovering my desktop, based on the Windows error messages, and restarted the computer. Desktop was recovered (with icon locations reset) and login appeared normal. However, Malwarebytes reported it quarantined “Nyetnya” Trojan. looking at the details, I see the CCleaner.exe file is what is quarantined. nyetnya_log.txt
  3. Hi all! So it looks like I got infected by a pretty nasty little piece of malware. It won't let me open up MalwareBytes or CCleaner. When I attempt to, it gives me the error message, "The Requested Resource is in use." It does however allow me to run MalwareBytes Anti-Root Kit or 'mbar'. When I do so, it first eliminated 7 infections. But since then, every time I scan, there are two links which simply will not be deleted. They are: C://Program Files (x86)/regtool --> [Rogue.RegTool] And C:/Program Files (x86)/regtool/regtool.exe(Rogue.Reg Tool) I went ahead and followed the guidelines listed on this page here. And included both the FRST and Addition logs. Additionally, I noticed in my task manager that there are two tasks running, both called "client". I can not close either, nor will it allow me to find their processes. Thank you so much in advance for any help you can offer! Addition.txt FRST.txt
  4. I am locked out of all malware sites, JRT and CCleaner and windows defender. My grandson installed something and tried to Uninstall it with disastrous results. I tried booting in safe mode without any luck. I am writing this on my tablet since I can't get to the site on the windows 10 computer. When I run JRT, I get an error "could not overwrite file (directory) clean_shortcut. vbs. Access denied." When I try to delete in directory it says I need permission.
  5. Hi Kevin, I've been following along with this thread because I have the exact same problems as the previous user. I've ran the repair tool in safe mode. Restarted back into normal boot mode and tried to open MalwareBytes still getting the resource is in use error. Tried to re-install MalwareBytes after the repair tool and still getting the same error. I've attached my log file from the repair tool. Thanks, Logan _Windows_Repair_Log.txt
  6. I'm considering getting a cleanup tool, such as CCleaner or Clean Master. Two questions: 1. Any recommendations for a good cleanup tool? 2. Any compatability issues between Clean Master and Malwarebytes? I'm running Android 4.4.4 on Motorola Moto G Thanks.
