  1. I have exactly the same problem as Bob Blaylock's post: pup.optional.ask won't go away—possible false-positive? By Bob_Blaylock, November 19 in Resolved Malware Removal Logs I see the solution posted (see below) by miekiemoes, for Bob Blaylock, however I noticed that the first instruction was "make sure you have the latest version of malwarebytes installed (currently 3.3)", I have updated Malwarebytes and the Dashboard reports my updates are "Current" but my version number is 3.2.2.2029 (at 27th November 2017) NOT 3.3. QUESTION: Is the current version for the UK 3.2.2.2029 ? if not how do I update to 3.3 ? and do I need to before proceeding with the miekiemoes solution ? Not sure if this is relevant but although PUP.Optional.ASK does not appear to have a major effect on my system, I have noticed that on completion of a scan Malwarebytes reports that the infection has been quarantined and then the Google Chrome browser will shut down, if I restart Google Chrome it asks if I wish to restore the original tabs and from that point everything appears normal. 2. This just started on my MB3 upgrade also. This file is a SQLite database that contains user specific items and can be moved to other installations to preserve search preferences, plugins, etc.. More specific information on why this is now flagged would be appreciated. It was flagged 5 times for both users on this installation. I am guessing it had to do with a plugin/extension. For now I have not quarantined any of the items. I am setup to approved and actions found during a scan so I don't have Replaced (series of numbers) in my message. My guess is those are pointers to specific items in the file.
  3. Hello I have been looking at these post for a bit now and I have tried uninstalling Chrome twice and deleting the local app data competently by deleting it again in the trash can. In the post it keep saying see below but i keep going down the thread and it just keeps saying see below. I scanned, removed the PUP then uninstalled chrome deleted local data then scanned again after reinstalling chrome and the PUP is still there. Here is what I keep getting. What steps am I missing to remove these or are these things just not harmful. 5. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to give a shout out to Aura for helping me solve a computer issue. Aura spent 2 weeks with me going back and forth helping me pinpoint exactly what infected my computer. After my computer was cleaned my task manager wouldn't open due to some permission change the malware caused. Aura was able to reproduce the problem on their end and eventually create an update in malwarebytes which resolved my issue. Based on skimming through some topics Aura has helped countless people. I'm not sure who is monitoring these feedback forums, but please recognize Aura for everything they have done if you haven't already. In fact I'm upgrading to premium based on the service I received from Aura. Thank you again Aura!!
  6. Hi everyone, i just wanted to show my appreciation of a member of your team/forums. I love my gaming pc, (still getting upgrades as we speak ) I'm quite odd I freak out when things tend to return or persist, so I decided to try out these forums rather than leaving the issue while my computer is glaring at me to help it (haha). Anyway, Aura thank you for making things easy to understand, some others I've run into on other helpful sites can be sightly confusing so I wasn't expecting much here based on other experiences. However, I'm now confident that this site can help me if I ever run into any malware/issues. Thank you so much for your help, it made me calmer and resassured me that these simple issues can be solved with some good people. Thanks all - Gabbie.
