  1. After a Windows update at some point before September, I had the issue that if it updated, my Microphone would stop functioning. However, if I didn't update, Apps wouldn't function. I much preferred having a microphone, as I use it quite often to play games and such. The issue is; I can't revert the windows update that *caused* the problem, as Windows 10 for some reason decided "You can't reverse updates before September now" on a whim, and I can't prevent updates either, so it just forced me to accept I now have a microphone that works just fine, but Windows just refuses to register any incoming noise from it. I've got zero idea why it doesn't pick up anything, as it's been an issue with two different headsets now, and the microphones work just fine on their own. I know this for sure, as the headsets both have "Sidetone" that plays my voice back into the headset to prevent speaking loudly, and that absolutely works just fine on both headsets I've used. The only issue there really is, appears to me to be Windows being stubborn about it, with no real idea why it would be. I hope someone is able to help me out, because I've tried reinstalling Logitech G HUB, completely removing registry for Logitech Gaming Software from the previous headset, and trying to plug it out and back in in several different ways, all to no use.
  2. some background info, I recently purchase and put together a new pc and installed all my favorite stuff now i can have 20 chrome tabs, discord, Spotify, steam, and a game open all at once because I like to multitask and now I can. a little while ago I got Malwarebytes full version because I like it so much as well as nordvpn(which I run through i2p sometimes, but mostly just as a browser extension for chrome). the problem now is that sometime recently I began to hear random audio playing, at first it wasn't out of the ordinary as I normally have Spotify running in the background for something to listen to while I talk to people on discord. what made this weird(rather what tipped me off) was that I was playing world of warcraft and out of nowhere the theme music to elders scrolls online started playing. offput as to where this was coming from I muted everything I KNOW I had running and searched all my chrome tabs and found nothing. the ESO music would play, stop, then play again for like three times then just stop altogether. I ran task manager to find any out of the norm programs but nothing and Malwarebytes couldn't find anything. please help, currently, it's only a slight nuisance but it's a virus nonetheless on my brand new computer and I want it gone. attached is a summary of Malwarebytes threat scan whilst in safe mode /w networking summary.txt
  3. Hello! I am infected with something and I've reached the limit of my knowledge. My memory usage on my computer is high. Partly that' is not an uncommon occasion - I am a tab-a-hollic and can have 20-50 tabs open in Chrome, But I recognize that behavior, Its old and familiar. This is something new and different. The memory compression process is using 400,000k-700,000k on average and I've seen it use as much as 1200k this week. All the time. It's normal to see memory compression pop up when I close a memory greedy tab or two but it goes away after a minute or so. Now it's here all the time. McAfee's Module Core Service and MMSSHOST process are also using a lot of working set memory too. At first, I found the Memory Compression service was using a lot of both working and privet set memory almost mirroring each other. Then I found a bunch of system protected hidden folders on my C:\ drive. There was even one in my recycling bin! I used McAfee's file shredder on what I could, and when the system prevented me from doing so, I switched to using the Comand Line with Admin authority. When I got all of the hidden system folders I hadn't created deleted and rebooted, Memory Compression's Privet Set usage fell from 400,000-700,000k to 999k
  4. I have the exact same problem as described on this thread. After quarantining the so called "virus", audio drivers are no longer working.
  5. After doing a scan with Malwarebytes today it detected a rootkit and said I needed to restart in order to quarantine it. My laptop then froze when restarting it and now my audio drivers don't work, says that my audio devices aren't installed and that it can't be loaded in the device manager. It's listed as High Definition Audio Controller in the Device manager. Updating it does nothing, says that it's already installed. 6. This is my sec time writing this, I wrote a 3 page things but when I clicked to submit the site timed out and I lost it all....(logged me out as well) So basically, something Called Nine keeps showing up along with CTF Loader in the task manager in windows 10, I check on the location of NINE and a file called Salta.exe and a .dll file are there, I have deleted/shredded both but they keep coming back, my research on CTFLoader is that is normally part of MS office, which I don't have, I ran a uninstall prg for ctfloader and though it is listed as gone, it still shows up. what theses two items seem to be doing is going to the net and playing audio, sometimes ads and or music...this happens with or without a browser open. I have run avg, spyware spybot, and malwarebytes and though Avg sometimes catches NINE/salta.exe when its in memory and it claims to be removing it, it still comes back after a while. There are sometimes other files one called Wrapper(something I forget the whole name) that also might be part of it...but as there are so many things in memory in Windows 10 its hard to know (or why there needed, I miss Windows 98 or xp where all you needed was windows.exe and explore.exe) I've tried Hyjack this, but it gives me an error saying it is blocked from writing changes because of the Host file in system32 director, I checked this but the item in it that it asked me to check for was not in the file.... When CTFLoader is in memory, I open its location, and though I can remove it from memory, when I then try to delete it, it says my clearance lvl is not high enough to do so...
  7. I had issues with ads opening tabs in my google chrome, so i installed malwarebytes. The first general threat-scan didnt find any issues. Then i did another custom scan on my main c: drive and it found 2 issues that malwarebytes quarantine and removed. I then restarted the computer as instructed and when i restarted, my internet, network system and audio are not working. I tried windows troubleshoot to detect and fix the issues but came upon system error messages like: "The Volume Shadow Copy service used by SystemRestore is not working". my PC setting also wont open I have a windows 8.1 . please help. logs: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16" ?> <mbam-log> <header> <date>2016/07/16 12:52:25 +0700</date> <logfile>mbam-log-2016-07-16 (12-48-37).xml</logfile> <isadmin>yes</isadmin> </header> <engine> <version>2.2.1.1043</version> <malware-database>v2016.02.16.06</malware-database> <rootkit-database>v2016.05.27.01</rootkit-database> <license>trial</license> <file-protection>enabled</file-protection> <web-protection>enabled</web-protection> <self-protection>disabled</self-protection> </engine> <system> <hostname>LENOVO-PC</hostname> <ip>192.168.1.157</ip> <osversion>Windows 8.1</osversion> <arch>x64</arch> <username>getty</username> <filesys>NTFS</filesys> </system> <summary> <type>threat</type> <result>completed</result> <objects>473475</objects> <time>20499</time> <processes>0</processes> <modules>0</modules> <keys>0</keys> <values>0</values> <datas>0</datas> <folders>0</folders> <files>0</files> <sectors>0</sectors> </summary> <options> <memory>enabled</memory> <startup>enabled</startup> <filesystem>enabled</filesystem> <archives>enabled</archives> <rootkits>disabled</rootkits> <deeprootkit>disabled</deeprootkit> <heuristics>enabled</heuristics> <pup>enabled</pup> <pum>enabled</pum> </options> <items> </items> </mbam-log> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16" ?> <mbam-log> <header> <date>2016/07/16 18:36:07 +0700</date> <logfile>mbam-log-2016-07-16 (18-35-41).xml</logfile> <isadmin>yes</isadmin> </header> <engine> <version>2.2.1.1043</version> <malware-database>v2016.07.16.03</malware-database> <rootkit-database>v2016.05.27.01</rootkit-database> <license>trial</license> <file-protection>enabled</file-protection> <web-protection>enabled</web-protection> <self-protection>disabled</self-protection> </engine> <system> <hostname>LENOVO-PC</hostname> <ip></ip> <osversion>Windows 8.1</osversion> <arch>x64</arch> <username>getty</username> <filesys>NTFS</filesys> </system> <summary> <type>custom</type> <result>completed</result> <objects>656133</objects> <time>63225</time> <processes>0</processes> <modules>0</modules> <keys>0</keys> <values>0</values> <datas>0</datas> <folders>0</folders> <files>2</files> <sectors>0</sectors> </summary> <options> <memory>enabled</memory> <startup>enabled</startup> <filesystem>enabled</filesystem> <archives>enabled</archives> <rootkits>enabled</rootkits> <deeprootkit>disabled</deeprootkit> <heuristics>enabled</heuristics> <pup>enabled</pup> <pum>enabled</pum> </options> <items> <file><path>C:\Masterspec\CD\MasterCollection_CS6_LS16\MasterCollection_CS6_LS16\- Cara 2.Patch All Adobe Product CS 6\Patch.exe</path><vendor>HackTool.Agent</vendor><action>success</action><hash>dad98f959ffb95a178ad0ef8f90716ea</hash></file> <file><path>C:\Users\getty\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\File System\001\t\00\00000000</path><vendor>PUP.Optional.OneClickDownloader</vendor><action>success</action><hash>8d269490990125119340e14be41d8e72</hash></file> </items> </mbam-log>

  16. I lost my audio after running a scan with malwarebytes. I was running a scan with the free version, but after a while I exited the scan without either pausing or aborting first, and had my computer shut down. The usual log file did not appear after I exited the scan. There were no audio the next time I turned on my laptop. I had ran the scan with an old version,v2013.05.22.02 I believe, which I had since updated after the lost of my audio. Anyway to fix this? Many thanks.
  17. Hi all... I seem to have the same problem discussed in several other threads- unwanted audio is playing in the background (sounds like it is from video commercials and news programs), the computer is slow, and I have some connectivity problems (for example, I'm unable to post a new topic in this forum from the infected computer). Malwarebytes quick scan removed some things, but the problems persist. Hoping someone can help! I've run DDS, in the other threads the solution quickly became personalized so I've stopped there. The results are below. 18. Hi, I have seen this problem all over the internet and was wondering if you could help me.. Internet Explorer is running on my PC when I don't even use the browser, I try to end the process via Task Manager and it almost instantly reappears. I am also hearing random audio clips every 15-30 minutes even when all internet browsers are closed which drives me insane. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Cheers
