  1. I have an old Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 3) that is now unable to perform System Restore on ANY restore point. This computer uses a dial-up connection to connect to the internet and normally has a speed of 44.0 - 45.2 kbps, but now only connects at 24.6 kbps. Here's a list of events and the dates they occurred on. Sorry for the length of this post. February 21st: - Updated Avast Virus Definitions in the early afternoon. I turned off the computer after updating. - Turned on the computer in the evening, and the dial-up connection window appeared on st
  2. Hi I cannot get malwarebytes antimalware working on windows XP 64-bit since the last 3.6 update gave me a no proc error, I downgraded 3.5 as that was the reported last supported version for XP and this is the error I get.... Support tool doesn't work because of this error: And doesn't specify which update it needs to work, I have already tried install all three: 4.0.1, 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 and none seem to fix this error.... Please help, thanks!
  3. Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this in. This is my first time posting on these forums. I was wondering if there's a way to confirm if a USB flash drive is free of viruses, malware, and/or ransomware? I used this USB flash drive back on Feb. 23rd with a computer (Windows XP) that was a part of a network. The server was infected with Ransomware and all the files on the shared network were encrypted on Feb. 25th. Supposedly nobody used any of the computers on the network on the 25th, so I suspect that the infection happened earlier and activated the Ransomware at a later da
  4. What is the best CURRENT options to protect our company from Meltdown and Spectre? We have both Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP with Malwarebytes protection. Our company is in the process of migrating software and it is NECESSARY to keep these computers running with these specific operating systems for the next months to operate this until the migration is complete. Our current software will only operate on Windows 2003 server and Windows XP. Upgrading the operating system is not a viable option. Any timely help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  5. I am running a PC with Win Xp SP3 (32Bit) with Avast Free 17.8 as primary real-time AV, complemented by MBAE v45 and MBAM free 3.3.1 as an on-demand malware scanner. Since yesterday my system has started behaving weirdly. It started when Secunia PSI asked to check my internet connection, was not able to connect to the update server and was unable to scan files. After a couple of reboots, it came online again and now it's working fine. Thinking it was an issue linked to the firewall permission, I tried to open the internet option tab in control panel and - here is the problem. In
  6. Hello. I tried to udpate my father's old computer with Malware Bytes 3 (mb3-setup-consumer-3.3.1.2183.exe). When trying to install, after selecting the language, it fails with a "Runtime error (at 352:120): Invalid floating point operation." The PC had a much older version which I removed using "mb-clean-3.1.0.1031.exe". Ran it as administrator per some instructions on another post. This prompted a reboot and installation of the new MB 3. When it failed with above error, I think another message popped up with instructions to grab the file created on my desktop: mb-clean-results.txt. File
  7. After the last upgrade of Malwarebytes (3.3.1.2183), I am no longer able to use a browser on my Windows XP sp3 PC. Sometimes one will load but have no access, other times they won't load at all. I have chrome, firefox and opera(my default). I have ran the clean routine, reloaded malwarebytes (it did not automatically ask), and turned off self protection. Is there a way to downgrade the a previous version of Malwarebytes? Running with no problems when Malwarebytes is turned off.
  8. Hello, I run Malwarebytes 3.2.2 Premium on a few XP computers. 3.1 worked fine, but there have been a few glitches with 3.2 (the first, which caused browsers to immediately crash, has apparently been corrected.) The current bug is intermittent, but seems to affect programs in the Protected Applications list. If the glitch occurs, those programs won't open (but they will appear in Task Manager, using ~3,000 KB of memory). Exiting Malwarebytes, manually killing MBAMService.exe and then restarting Malwarebytes corrects the problem, at least until it randomly reappears. This glitch has e
  9. It's a long story, but my mom really likes her Windows XP machine. After some issues with the HDD I'm reinstalling XP for her. It seems that "Windows Update" no longer works on the XP OS, so I'm having to go out and find SP1 and SP2 manually. So far I've found this site and this site. I want to make sure that the downloads from both of those sites are accurate and legitimate before I install them. The one from soft32.com is particularly sketchy to me. If someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. Or if anyone has links to trusted sites where I can d/l SP1 and SP2, I'd really appreciat
  10. Hi. The computer, winxp sp3, has been slow and getting slower for maybe 3-4 years. Antivirus programs have found nothing major except for several instances of something by AVG free about a year ago. Then, AVG would not work and it was removed, Currently I am using free Avast as the main antivirus and MBAM for on demand scans. Panda Cloud Cleaner, Avira PC Cleaner (a cloud cleaner), and MSERT are used at least monthly. I am attaching frst.txt and addition.txt. Thank you for your help, Tom Addition.txt FRST.txt
  11. Google is ending updates for its Chrome browser in April for computers running Windows XP, Vista, and select Mac operating systems. The browser will continue working but will leave systems vulnerable to malware and viruses. Will the installation of Malwarebytes be sufficient protection against malware beginning in April?
  12. Installed but won't start same issue as others? Thanks, Robert CheckResults.txt Addition.txt FRST.txt
  13. Hello, I'm facing serious problems after being infected with malwares like music.exe, userinit.exe, system.exe, forever.exe, hijack.host etc. It's dreadful. It's everywhere, in my pen drives, camera, phones, memory cards(it doesn't allow me to view usb mass storage contents). Hampering processes and creating chaos! I posted a topic a few months ago regarding the same issue but didn't respond to it as I started preparing up for exams. You can find the topic HERE >> https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/164858-wormautorun-causing-windows-to-run-into-an-infinite-shutdown-loop-h
  14. Hopefully someone can help, because after two straight days am at my wits' end. (The FRST log files are after this wall of text) It's a Windows XP SP3 machine, and the following was gleaned from Process Explorer program. Explorer.exe runs sluggishly immediately after logon, taking it's time to bring up the taskbar and desktop icons. It uses over half the processor (and Core 2 Duo 2.something GHz chip) when a window is opened (such as My Computer). It runs poorly but is at least stable, until it is given an internet connection. When connected, the main explorer.exe process then begins spawn
  15. Hi, I recently upgraded to 2.1.6.1022 from my prior Premium version. I have noticed at Windows XP startup that MBAM does not start up automatically anymore? I ran msconfig and see MBAE checked off but I do not see MBAM anywhere? Several boxes are unchecked but none that look to have anything to do with MBAM? When I start MBAM manually it starts up and then I get a red bang in the system tray icon starting that reat time protection is disabled? When I right click on the MBAM icon in the systray I noticed that none of the Malware Protection, Malicious Website Protection or Start With Window
  16. Hello, I have run Malawarebytes on my computer (free version) for several years now always with great results. Like a month ago I downloaded the available version (I do not have internet at all times), but I did not run it until now. However, this time my windows xp boots when Malawarebytes is getting ready to scan (before it actually starts the scan there is a progress bar). When the progress bar is about to complete, my screen computer goes blue, white letter come up with a long message. The blue screen is less than a secon, then it automatically boots. I have tried both in normal mo
  17. Just installed Malwarebytes Premium on my desktop running Windows XP. Appears to be installed and running but Windows Security Center reports two alerts: 1) Firewall is off and 2) no virus protection recognized on computer. Is this normal? Or, have I not yet set up something properly?
  18. Hello all - I just noticed this odd behavour in Firefox 27.0. When MBAE is active I cannot use Tools>Options to change the download folder location. Attempting to use the Browse button in the dialog box does NOT produce a folder list to let you specify a download folder. Additionally, if you check the option to "Always ask me where to save files" and you attempt a download a folder list WILL NOT appear and you can therefore not complete a download. Using the MBAE tray icon and selecting "Stop protection", then restarting Firefox allows you to both browse to a download folder to specify it a
  19. I'm running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Trial) 2.0.2.1012 on a Windows XP Home Edition sp3 Dell Inspiron laptop. This is a fresh installation of Malwarebytes on a computer I haven't used in over a year. The installation appeared successful, but the database is out of date and when I try to update it I get a dialog with the following text: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more informat
  20. I have some security cameras around my house that are attached to an old windows XP box that is used for nothing else. It is up 24/7/365, making it a target for scum/hackers. I installed the Pro version of MBAM last summer and haven't had any problems until this June when I got around to updating to the new Pro version of MBAM, 2.0.2.1012. It installed fine, and when it started up it immediately started checking for updates and after a few seconds, a popup showed that "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has encountered a problem and needs to close etc". When I "click here" to see the error report
  21. I installed today MBAM Premium on a working Windows XP system. As it was checking the system for the first time, it listed three threats, all Trojan.FakeAlert, and continued for a while. Then I lost control of the system (I am working on it remote from home). A colleague went to have a look: there was a BSOD with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. He rebooted the system. As the login window came up, I remotely connected, my session started opening and the desktop to be displayed, and then control disappeared. The colleague said the BSOD came up again, this time with bad pool header. So logging in is impo
  22. I've had my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for about a week. Everything seemed fine until the error box popped up "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" This has been happening over a week. I have a Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1 Service pack 3
  23. I would like to see information on the protection and risks of continuing to use Windows XP and XP Pro after Microsoft stops supporting it. I read recently that about 30% of Windows operated computers are still running XP, so I hope this is a topic of interest here. I am hoping the Malware Bytes Pro with an AV program will provide the needed protection. Any ideas?
  24. I have been battling a virus for two weeks that periodically sends random e-mails containing a presumably viral link. Several scans have been run with Malwarebytes Pro without any infected files being located. Attached are the logs generated for diagnostics. This is my first time posting to a help site, so please advise if I am not proceeding with the correct protocol. dds.txt attach.txt
  25. After Malwarebytes popped up for my blog as a suspicious site, which I am alarmed to see and will have to deal with that, I went into Malwarebytes' website and tried to report it using the form, however, the WIndows XP is no longer showing as an option for my operating system. Does this mean that Malwarebytes is no longer supporting Windows XP computers? I have a paid version of Malwarebytes. Please advise. Thank you.
