  3. Hi, I have been experiencing some slowness, like when computer starts or loading browser pages, but not necessarily anything that indicates malware/virus/etc. Then, a week ago or so, when the computer started it went through an auto drive repair. So I ran some scans last week, which didn't find anything unusual. However, I am concerned about the "bad block(s)". Last evening I backed everything up on an external hard drive. I'm attaching reports done last evening. Also, if this HD is on its way out, I'd like some information on what specs to look for in a new laptop. I know my current laptop does not meet requirements for Windows 11. I am not a gamer, but do want good graphics (not integrated, if possible) and I like to store/view photos/videos. Also, not interested in top of the line, but something that will last a while. Thank you, Julie Malwarebytes 220221.txt FRST 220221.txt Addition 220221.txt
  4. www.ojrq.net somehow made it through my system some time ago. I kept seeing it when I try to use Rakuten and I finally stopped to research "www.ojrq.net" and learned what it is. I'm disappointed that Malwarebytes never alerted me. Any suggestions on how I can delete this before it causes harm, if it hasn't already. TIA.
  5. I'm running the latest versions of Windows 10 & Malwarebytes for Windows. My system appears to be infected with malware which I suspect came from a Google Chrome extension. Yesterday my PC started running very slowly and I noticed I received numerous Google Chrome notifications in the Windows message center (refer to the images below). After unsuccessfully performing a "Clean up computer" from the Advanced settings in Chrome, I performed a clean install of Chrome (uninstalling the previous installation & deleting the Chrome folder in Windows). I have not logged back into my account from within Chrome so extensions haven't been reinstalled. After reinstalling Chrome, I started a Custom Scan of my entire hard drive. The scan has been running for over 21 hours. It is still running. Over 680,000 items have been scanned and there has only been one (1) detection thus far: PUP.Optional.Ask. The offending file is: c:\users\mike\desktop\mike\appdata\local\temp\apnic.dll. I've let the scan run this long so I'm hesitant to stop it; however, I need to be able to regain the use of the infected computer as soon as possible. Is there any way for me to know how close the scan is to being done? Should I allow the custom scan to complete or is there a better course of action for me to take at this point? What are the steps I should take to resolve this and be certain my computer is no longer compromised? Thank you.
  6. Hi all, I'm in need of your expertise again. I have the free versions of Malwarebytes & AVAST installed but I also have Norton Security and TSDD Killer in one of the folders (just in case). My browser has the Malwarebytes & AVAST extension as well. I recently downloaded some mods for Stardew Valley and even though I made sure to scan them, it seems like my laptop is now infected. I tried running AVAST boot-time scan and it wouldn't show the usual icons or a report. I tried running all the scans listed above and they didn't find anything but WIndows Defender popped up and it said they blocked a threat in "C:\Users\press\AppData\Local\Temp" and the scan/notification kept popping up. I tried to run all those applications in Safe Mode as well but they didn't return anything. Please help? Best wishes, Sarah
  7. For reasons unknown to me, this morning Mr. Malwarebytes Premium has sent me a few warnings indicated an "Exploit" attack: Malwarebytes www.malwarebytes.com -Log Details- Protection Event Date: 9/19/21 Protection Event Time: 4:26 AM Log File: 33d8f420-1923-11ec-af4a-3c2c309b2446.json -Software Information- Version: 4.4.6.132 Components Version: 1.0.1453 Update Package Version: 1.0.45108 License: Premium -System Information- OS: Windows 10 (Build 19043.1237) CPU: x64 File System: NTFS User: System -Exploit Details- File: 0 (No malicious items detected) Exploit: 1 Malware.Exploit.Agent.Generic, ComSpec=C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe, Blocked, 0, 392684, 0.0.0, , -Exploit Data- Affected Application: Microsoft Office Word Protection Layer: Application Behavior Protection Protection Technique: Exploit Office WMI abuse blocked File Name: ComSpec=C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe URL: End. 8. "Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app and the item you tried to access isn't available. Contact IT helpdesk for more information" when attempting to access certain parts of Windows Defender (specifically scan results), but consequent to turning on "periodic scanning" and attempting to to click the desktop alert associated with the scan results I receive this message. Windows 10 Pro 19042.1165 20H2/Malwarebytes Premium 4.4.4.126. A few questions: 1. My understanding is Malwarebytes should work quite well with Defender. Is this message normal as Malwarebytes is in control or no? If not, what are the recommended steps? I imagine a reinstallation to start things off? 2. Is it recommended to leave periodic scanning off via Defender? 3. Keep in mind I can actually access all areas of Windows Defender. The issue seems to occur when clicking the desktop alert notification associated with the scan results of my Windows Defender scan. I am able to see any "threats" if I go to Windows Defender console under "active threats" 4. And lastly, any specific recommendations in terms of complimentary AV?
  9. I made a purchase via the Malwarebytes Premium bill of exchange for one year (Order No. 152836483) a few hours ago, and there's no email within the key of it. There's nothing in the Spam email too..
  10. Hey. So I recently installed a software which came with a patch file which was not what it should have been. Running that patch file didn't do anything but later I realised that my Windows Defender is disabled automatically. When I checked the Control Panel, I found out that the Virus Protection Part of it is completely gone. It's not there at all (image attached below). So, I tried a few methods from the internet like:- 1. Downloaded and ran the windefend.reg file. (This gave me an error saying I don't have permission.) 2. Ran the Malwarebytes scan twice but didn't find anything. 3. Did the same thing in Safe Mode, still couldn't find anything. I have also run the FRST Scan which I saw a lot of people run and send the logs for analysing the issue. So I did the same thing and I have attached the FRST.txt and Addition.txt below for reference. Can someone please help me cuz I don't have any other Antivirus Softwares installed as Windows Defender is good enough for that purpose and I don't need to expose my PC to any more threats while the service is down. Thank you. FRST.txt Addition.txt
  11. Just showed up on a scan. Haven't downloaded anything new or anything. Super weirded out by the 6 finds though. Exported the scan info below, would love opinions and help on what to do next. 12. Hi there! For about two, maybe three, weeks? I've been having an issue with Malwarebytes flagging random things at outbound trojans. When I scan, neither application is finding anything. (The only thing ADW flags is the default pre-installed HP programmes and Claro Reader which is an accessibility software I use, but I've never had a reason to uninstall those.) It possibly started when I downloaded Valheim from Steam, or that may have been the first time I actively noticed it. To summarise: Every time I open the Valheim, Malwarebytes immediately flags it as an outbound trojan. Then it started to do it with Clip Studio Paint, the art software I use for work, when I opened up the in-app store. Flagging it as an outbound trojan. (This stopped once I updated CSP to the newest version.) Today, it's now doing it with Discord, and refusing to let me update discord because it's being flagged as an outbound trojan. I've done a Windows update, which made no difference. I've also updated both Malwarebytes, and ADW Cleaner. It should be noted that when I've run these scans, they were in Normal mode, still connected to the internet. I can't seem to work out what the problem is, and I can't find anyone with a similar problem when I google this issue. But this is becoming a problem as I need Discord for working from home, and being unable to access this is not good, very bad, please help. I've downloaded the Malwarebytes Support Tool and attached the log to this post, cause that's what I've seen asked for on other posts? mbst-grab-results.zip
  13. Hello . an notification message about "Your Wi-Fi Connection is unsecured" is showed up on the right side corner of the screen! so what is this about ? Malwarebytes Premium Your Wi-Fi Connection is unsecured Your Internet activity may be visible to unauthorized parties. Malwarebytes Privacy can help secure your connection. such a message shouldn’t be to show up because Malwarebytes has no module to monitoring and protecting the device network like most anti-virus software . Malwarebytes is now a full anti-virus ?
  14. I am not the person in charged of the Home WiFi security at home, but I received an offer today to install a clipboard application. Visiting their website I noticed they do not offer a secure connection. We have a private WiFi, Windows 10, Microsoft firewall, Malwarebytes Premium AND Zemana Antilogger. I use a password manager, usually copying and pasting passwords. It came to my memory a product I had checked before, Spyshelter, which Premium option offers Clipboard Protection. So, I am just wondering right now if I HAVE MISSED ANYTHING, suddenly out of curiosity. Anyone who can post an easy to understand and definite answer it will be greatly appreciated since my interest is not anything regarding having to deal with security issues anywhere/anyhow. https://youtu.be/tZeEcnkMD9w
  15. Hi, I'm not sure if this is correct place to post. I bought this laptop computer in 2016, but didn't start using it regularly until 2019/2020. In 2019 from about April until July, I used it for a part-time work-from-home survey job. Then, early this year I started using it exclusively when Windows 7 became obsolete. The laptop runs slow, and this isn't something that started after an update. It just seems to keep getting slower. Sometimes it seems particularly slow when using the internet or specific websites (like FaceBook, etc). Btw, I usually use MS Edge browser. Rarely do I use the Chrome browser. When I had that survey job last year, I had to use Firefox, which has since been deleted from this computer. Other times, the computer is slow in opening apps or files...or even slow to open task manager when I hit 'CTRL' + 'ALT' + 'DELETE'. I know there are a lot of MS apps on my computer that I don't even use. Not sure if they have anything to do with it. And, I don't know for sure how to ensure my non-MS apps are up-to-date. I used to use Avast (not premium, just free), and it would notify me if an app was out-of-date. My previous laptop with the Windows 7 (and way less storage, etc) ran much faster. Could you either help me figure this out, or send me to a more appropriate forum/website? And after this issue is resolved, are there guidelines for Windows 10 settings? Thank you, Julie
  16. The settings application on windows 10 does not open for me. It has the icon display on a blue screen before it automatically shuts down. This problem only exists on my current user, and if I reboot in safe mode or with a different user it works. Here is the latest malware scan report. Some help would be appreciated. Thank you. 17. Hi. I was browsing my computer when Windows Explorer suddenly crashed. My discord window was still open and working fine. I tried pressing the windows key and nothing happened. I then tried opening task manager through ctrl+alt+delete, but it wouldn't open. I then tried to open my computer in safe mode with networking, but it will not connect to a network (even ethernet), leaving me unable to sign into my windows account. I tried anyway and was left with a never ending loading screen after putting in my passcode. I grabbed my windows installation disk, a flash drive with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool, opened the bios, ran it through the cmd prompt, and have attached the FRST.txt file to this post. If anyone knows a way to help, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks! FRST.txt
  18. Hello. I've seen this thread before but I'm assuming it's a case by case issue. I can't install Malware Bytes on my windows 10 pc. It keeps crashing and I think it's being caused by some malicious software that I would like to scan for. The install process keeps failing. Can you help?
  19. Hi, I was told to go here from the BSOD section. I have both Kaspersky and Malwarebytes and today, Kaspersky asked me to restart to complete an update, so I did. After it finished restarting, it gave me an error saying my PC needs to be repaired and that the operating system couldn’t be loaded because a critical driver is missing or contains errors (mbamelam.sys). I also got an error code, 0xc000007b. I have a lot of important stuff on this computer and I can’t really go out to repair it due to the whole pandemic that’s going on. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  21. I had to go back to windows 10 version 1803 since almost 2 days or so (first time this is happened to me), install Malwarebytes version 4 beta , and when I want to exit out of MB it goes to crash ! so the whole software is crashed on the exit ! We’re sorry.but the Malwarebytes service stopped working. The program will now restart.
  22. Hi; we just installed the latest MBAM 4.1.0. We recently made the move to windows 10 ver. 1903. We are using the windows defender. With you newest version, can we now turn on your realtime protection and run defender at the same time? Thanks!
  23. Hi, I am recently having this problem while talking to people and even in games. If I am in a call on discord with someone, they can hear my sound onto my mic. I tried many videos to help me solve my problem but doesn't work. It is a pretty common issue that's been annoying people. Anyways people just always hear my sound when I am watching you tube, etc. Please help me get rid of this, I don't like the fact it is doing that.
  24. Nothing like waiting to the last minute. I was able to download Windows 10. However, it reverted back to my Windows 7 and stated the Windows 10 install had a problem during the "migrate data" part of the process. I know enough about trying to fix computer issues, to make me dangerous. So, asking for help. When I googled the problem on https://www.thewindowsclub.com/safe_os-phase-during-migrate_data-operation it suggested using SFC. I did, and the results showed corrupt file(s), some that could not be fixed. I cannot attach the CBS file, and cannot get the computer to change permissions so I can attach it. Also, since I haven't got Windows 10 on my laptop and today is the end of life for Windows 7, Should I remove my documents/pictures/videos to a USB or the like? Thank you!
  25. Hello i have some serious virus. It happened to me before 3 years ago. I replaced all devices and got a new router at the same time and all new accounts. This fixed it. However, it returned. I thought i was hacked on my pc. At first i saw someone was remote on my pc. Windows 10 home. I tried blocking this by turning off remote desktop services and winrm. Also did this with script in powershell. Eventually my pc broke and i couldnt start my laptop ever again. Now i borrowed a laptop. After 2 days i noticed i have a shortcut virus. At first i saw a weird device turning up. Steelseries PS/2 keyboard Forwarding device. All info unknown. I removed this and my external usb bluetooth mouse and touchpad still worked. However it pops up again after i log on or after some time again. Now i found out i have a shortcut virus. All kinds of shortcuts are created and windows dissapear and a lot of stuff is happening. I had the same on my broken laptop as i had the same issues. I have 2 admin accounts and when i log on to one account the other is also opened when i look in taakmanager. I used antivirus software and defender. Nothing was ever detected. I think my usb mouse contains badusb mallware with this shortcut virus. It spreads fast. When i open a shortcut the window it opens often changes with respect to letter calibration clearness ans size, it flashes moves in the sceen and sometimes gets screenlocked, stops working or dissapears while remaining opened in taskmanager. Its already everywhere after using this borrowed laptop for 3 days. My explorer folder and pc structure has changed in one windows account. The desktop is the highest lvl structure with my pc ans user account and settings etc below it. I cannot see the pathway for these. I can rightclick the icons and they refer to the pathway they are orriginally. I also see my laptop in connected devices with option to search inside and open stuff like settings and see the devices. There are many processes happening and it eats the processor alive. All kinds of developer options get added to my programa even i have not installed this. Also the borrowed laptop had windows 10 pro. When i received it i did fresh install. After it finished the pc had windows 10 home. I couldnt get it back even when signing in to the microsoft account linked to the windows pro 10 activation key. I cannot return to the former windows. Fresh install option doesnt provide the means to completely do so. And it doesnt work. I have a feeling other devices in my network have also been infected. I hope my router software can not be infected? It has original software from my provider and i have reset to factory few times and changed password. Malware bytes on my phone doesnt find anything. back to the windows 10: i looked up the registry for local machine microsoft windows current and run, the only one starting without a defined folder pathway is tiltwheelmouse.exe from pximouse. When i clicked on open file in pathfolder i came to system32. After this the window dissapeared and when i tried opening the folder again from taskmanager and rightclick on the startup item pxi mouse, there was no such option. It also changed so that no info was available and all my startup programs now showed as start from registry. I did never change anything in the registry. I only looked at it. I cannot disable the pxi mouse anymore. I wanted to disable it as i did before and all my mouses the usb and the mousepad still worked. I also saw that the pxi mouse/tiltwheelmouse.exe was linked to this weird device with no info: Steelseries ps/2 keyboard Forwarding device which i kept disabling and removing. Apparently this device is activated when i plug in the usb mouse. Disabling the device doesnt stop any mouse from working. So i think the usb mouse has somehow been infected with a virus or badusb malware and i plugged it into the borrowed device which then got infected as well. I cannot format the usb mouse so... i will just throw it away. Nevertheless, the laptop is infected already. So i googled. I tried what was suggested on several websites with cdm.exe as admin but i didnt get rights to perform the actions suggested online. Likr disablr autorun.ink etc on windows C drive. The mouse was not connected. No other devices are only use a lancable from my router if i need internet. I tried fresh install but it didnt happen with no error messages. My firewall from norton which came with this laptops software is messed up and i have no controll to change it. A lot of things have changed in 2 days so i cannot change all options. My mouse from the laptops mousepad is moving across the screen and all sorts of stuff happen. I dont have much controll. Im sure it is shortcut virus, probably together with other malware and spyware. No clue how i got the shortcut virus on my mouse usb in the first place because i never used it on other pcs before and i never use other usbs. All i know is that I have to act quickly. That is why im asking advice here before turning on the laptop again. I dont have much time before this laptop will be potatoes as well and i need a very effective method before I do anything myself. After fixing this virus and laptop i probably need more help by finding out what happened and if other devices connected to my network are in danger. Please help me. Ask me any missing info as it is very confusing to explain all stuff happening. I could use any help. Thanks in advance!
