  1. My PC came with preinstalled Windows 10 and I've got this PC for 2 years. It is ASUS laptop (Republic of gamers). I would check the model but I'm not home yet...so ill update that later. Windows Defender keeps telling me about this PUA. I have been scanning my PC all over again and tried clearing out temporary files and such but still shows the PUA as active,I have F-secure installed and as my main AV but I did a full scan with WD too after getting a blue screen while browsing internet. I know the Recovery folder is not even visible by default...I know I can't access it even when it

  3. Hello, i'm new on these forums. Just a quick question. I forgot my password on my Malwarebytes Account as well as the secret answers (both of 'em). If i can recover it, how? Do i need to email support or staff? Or is it a case where something has to be done to the account itself or something? Apologies if a topic like this has alrdy existed, i couldn't find one though.
  4. Hello, I used the Puran File Recovery utility and extracted found files into a temporary folder. Most of the file types were listed as .cdef, something I can't find any information on. Is this just "garbled" information not uncommon to file recovery programs I've read about? Thank you in advance.
  5. i goofed and clicked on something when i was not thinking clearly. THOR scrambled most of my pc and files. i have some old backups so bad but not total disaster. MBAM real time missed it Anti Exploit missed it Norton missed it Win Patrol missed it. Anyway Not paying the ransom. but what should i do now if anything to be able to start recovery. 7. In my previous topic (gateway-laptop-with-ssd-not-find-vista-sp2-wont-start-pxe-e76 ) , I was unable to restart my Gateway 32bit Vista laptop, except by using the Gateway Recovery management Partition. and doing a "Recovery with automatic data backup." This recovery worked flawlessly, and recovered Vista to its 2008 level, including 60 associated programs and Windows updates, and built an associated 23 gig BACKUP file which was stored in the top level of the Local Disk (C:) directory. It included a top level directory folder named: 14-08-23 12:39 AM, beneath which were folders, the same fo
  8. Desktop Compaq Presario CQ5300F, Windows 7 A client fell for the phone call, with the strong Indian accent, supposedly from Microsoft, and released control of her computer to the hackers. She does not have the recovery disks. When Windows starts, an old-fashion window - looks like XP, if not 98 or 95 - pops up asking for a password. Using Ubuntu, I was able to back up the important files, The recovery partition is present, I do not know in what shape. The client is willing to reset the computer to factory settings. When I press F11 after powering the computer, instead of bringing the Rec
  9. Hi everyone, First time poster here and I thought I'd see if anyone in this community has had to deal with a similar issue and recover from it. Let me just say that the malware that caused this issue has been removed and dealt with and is no longer an issue. It is the cleanup process that I'm interested in. One of the users on our corporate network received a zip file that contained some malware that slipped through our AV protection. He of course thought it was legitimate and opened it up and then realized his mistake. He noticed soon after that Word and PDF docs on his desktop became
  10. I have a Toshiba Satelite 64bit. I have gotten a virus that wont let me access ANYTHING. Whenever I turn my computer on, i can log into my account, then my home screen will come up. Then the screen will freeze and a white screen will come up. About a minute later, a screen comes up claiming to be the FBI and demanding a ransom. I used the Fadar Recovery Scan Tool x64, went through the "Repair My Computer" on the Advanced Boot screen to get to Command Prompt, typed in "f:\frst64.exe", and hit scan. Here is to log it gave me: Scan result of Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) (x64) Version: 18-04-2
