  1. How do I get rid of this pup file? PUPOptionalSecurify.txt
  2. Every time Google Chrome syncs, I get infected with 26 PUPs called PUP.Optional.ItoMedia.Generic. They exist in the Chrome\User\Default directory. The only way to cure this so far is to uninstall chrome and delete the user data directory. This is NOT a false positive. These pups cause various havoc on the computer and take down internet explorer as well. Does anyone have a procedure to clean these pups at the source?
  3. So i have a windows laptop and I just downloaded Malwarebytes to scan for viruses. First scan found several hundred viruses. I quarantined them and removed them and scanned a 2nd time. 2nd time found 5 viruses during the heuristics phase of the scan. it keeps finding this PUP type malware and no matter how many times you scan the computer it cannot be completely removed. If i scan the pc, and say it finds 5 threats, it will only allow 4 to be quarantined, always leaving 1 of itself to remain on my pc. I have now scanned several times and it is still there everytime, with all threats quarantined with the exception of 1, every single scan. Is there anything i can do to get rid of this pesky PUP malware? I have saved the report but I dont know if I should post it here on a public forum in case it contains any personal info. Thanks.
  4. Hi there, I have an infection on my PC from pup.optional.searchmanager. MWB is showing up 3 files in GOOGLE\CHROME\USER DATA\Default\Secure Preferences and 1 registry value in GOOGLE\CHROME\PREFERENCEMACS\Default\extensions.settings I've tried all the methods in this post (sign out / reset sync / reset Chrome / deleting all other search engines in Chrome), but they keep showing back up. I've also tried AdWCleaner. It seems to find / quarantine / delete the files but they always show up again in the next scan. Also, I have another PC synced up to the same Chrome account and it's fine, there's nothing showing up on MWB scan on that one. Files attached. Any help would be appreciated 👍 Shaun Addition.txt FRST.txt MWBScanResult.txt
  5. I'm getting alot of pop ups, when on websites that are 100% safe like last.fm or myanimelist.net. Please help me, thank you! Malware bytes detects it and blocks the pop up and tells me it comes from "File: C:\Windows\System32\MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe" but this keeps happening every minute or so. *Logs for the popups and scans below* ( also weird thing is i installed adwcleaner but its magically disappeared! after i done a scan using it! ) I followed this guide correctly (screenshotted below) but it did not get rid of this problem. I installed malware bytes and enabled the PUP detection and scanned but no malware or viruses appeared, malware bytes said all files are okay but everytime i browse the web malwarebytes says this (screenshotted below) I want to get rid of this problem and its very annoying and has left me fustrated, in fact I'll soon be buying malwarebytes! 6. I have unwanted pups and pums, and I want to remove them without damaging anything. How? I came here first before doing anything a.txt
  7. Long story, bear with me. I had 4 pieces of adware on this machine when I had finished the first scan with 7.0.1.0 . I kept getting 'hung' during the cleaning process. After 45 minutes of waiting I decided to kill the program and try again. And again, and again, and again no no avail. Before each scan before detection I would receive this message, (which I am still receiving). I downloaded the new build only to run into the exact same error as before. I thought the issue was fixed when i was prompted to restart my machine, (with version 7.0.1.0) when the scan had finished. However, there were no detections upon the reboot. It did find some of the adware and destroy it, as there are only two entries now, it just feels a bit weird. Again, I am still hanging on 'cleaning' right before the unhandled popup and I am running the latest build of adwcleaner. Attaching the txt file below. (Current.) AdwCleaner[S58].txt
  8. Yesterday my laptop appeared to have become somewhat sluggish. So, I ran ADWCleaner which found several infections. I attempted to send them to “Quarantine” which was largely successful except for one pesky infection named “Preinstalled Dell Support Assist Agent” which was not sent to “Quarantine.” In an effort to remove get rid of this infection I ran “HitManPro” which appeared to remove the infection but sadly this morning the infection has reappeared. [See Attached Screen Shots.] I also ran Malwarebytes Premium 3.8.3 which did not detect any issue. Can anyone assist me in resolving this nagging issue? Thank you
  9. I am using your web page about: How to remove PUP.Optional.Spigot.A (Virus Removal Guide); https://malwaretips.com/blogs/pup-optional-spigot-a-virus-removal/. But there is a problem: the link to the Junkware Removal Tool tool at Step 2: doesn't work. How can I get it to proceed with the Steps of your page?
  10. The problem is when ever I quarantine PUP.Optional.EasyLife after opening up chrome again it comes back if I scan again. it's located in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default and it is the Secure Prefrences file. I think it's something to do with chrome sync which brings back the PUP after I reopen chrome. I don't want to clear my chrome sync data like passwords and bookmarks, anyone know how I can resolve this issue. maybe just edit the secure preferences file using notepad++ idk anyone else have this problem and figured out how to fix it? 11. Hello, I have scanned my laptop with Malwarebytes, recently. It ended up showing several PUPs and this Trojan.LNKHijacker.ClnShrt as well. It moved them into quarantine, deleted them and restarted my laptop. It's ok until I'm still without internet connection. When I turn my internet connection on and start scanning, it finds it again with these PUPs. It shows that they are somehow connected with chrome browser, even though i have already deleted the chrome browser. Can you help me, please? Can you provie me with some advice, which can solve this problem? Thanks, Sicko

  13. Malwarebytes is detecting IObit Driver Booster Free as a PUP and removing it. This is a false positive. I have uploaded the scan results. Driver Booster False Positive Results.txt
  14. Found 191 pups in malware bytes. Put them all in quaratine and removed them + computer restart but they keep showing up. Tried installing adw cleaner but they cant detect it. pups.zip
  15. Yesterday I downloaded this game from pccgames.xyz. Install was halted with two .exe files in C:/Users/rhmcc/AppData/Local/Temp quarantined as PUP.BundleInstaller. Subsequent scans show some other categories of malware (screenshot of recent quarantined items is attached). The downloaded file is a .zip file which contains a .iso file which contains only the .exe install file. I saw a Forum entry from a couple of years ago which concluded that the "Need for Speed Underground" game suffered from Malwarebytes false positives. I want to know if "Need for Speed 2 SE" is also experiencing false positives? If not, is there any way to determine how dangerous these PUP files are? quarantine.pdf
  16. it added a lot of random files and a fake Ea app (which is the virus) i cant delete them cause it says that its a system file it also deleted some of my system32 files . please help me!
  17. Im testing AdwCleaner on a virtual machine and while testing I discovered that AdwCleaner seems to detect PUP.OptionAdwCleaner[S03].txtal.DriverSupport rightfully, but it cant delete it. It detects the Folder "C:\ProgramData\UAB" and the Registry Key "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\ActiveOptimization", but fails to detect the Programs main directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Driver Support) and its second directory (C:\ProgramData\DriverSupport). It therefore fails to remove DriverSupport. I dont think this has something to do with AdwCleaner running on a virtual machine, but rather that it just doesn't detect the PUP right. I can give you a setup of DriverSupport and the download link if needed. I have attached the scan log.
  18. Hello, AdwCleaner detects one PUP.Optional.Legacy. After cleaning and restarting Windows, AdwCleaner still detects this malware. Malwarebytes doesn't find any threats. Please find attached FRST, Additions, and AdwCleaner Threat Scan logs. FRST.txt Addition.txt AdwCleaner[S07].txt I need your help, please.
  19. Just found these with the adware scanner.. are they ok to remove? wasnt sure it being registry HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\Children\001\Internet Explorer\DOMStorage\nicepage.com PUP.Optional.Legacy HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\Children\001\Internet Explorer\EdpDomStorage\nicepage.com
  20. Short version of the problem: Whenever I press the little bell icon in the top right corner Malwarebytes just completely crashes. Rebooting does not help, ran repair with the Malwarebytes suppport tool. But nothing changed and it still crashes as soon as i click the icon. I have to forcibly close malwarebytes and restart it to get it to work again. When did it start / order of events (some of it might be unrelated to the problem): - I was watching a random youtube video. A little add popped up on the video I want to click on the 'x' to close it but missclicked and clicked the banner instead opening up the site it advertised. - Malwarebytes instantly blocks the site due to 'POP', (which im guessing is 'PUP' but since my malwarebytes is in dutch its says 'POP' instead.) - Just in case I update my virus definitions and run a malwarebytes scan, followed by Norton antivirus scan. Both scans found nothing. - While im scanning the 'Bell icon' still works since im using it to check the notification and what site was blocked etc. (the blocked Domain was "free.gamingwonderland.com") - A very short while after the scans I want to use the bell icon again to click the thing that says I saw the notifications and mark it as read or something. - This time as soon as I click it Malwarebytes crashes and freezes up, but I just assume its a one time problem and turn of my computer cause I got to go do some other stuff. - I came back not long after and started up my computer and again want to use the icon in the top right corner. As soon as I Click it Malwarebytes crashes and freezes up again. - I decide to reboot my computer (during which windows seems to do a quick short update). After reboot it still crashes. - I download Malwarebytes support tool to repair malwarebytes, which seems to do a reinstall of malwarebytes. After which the problem presists, it still crashes when pressing the button. --------------------------------------------------------- I am not super knowledgeable about all this. So, I need some advice. How do I fix this, and do I have anything to worry about with the POP thing. Could they be related or is this just a coincidence. Help is appreciated. :)
  21. This is very frustrating! I'm a Malwarebytes fan, and I am certainly an Iobit fan! - Your excuse can longer be that iobit uses pup files. This is a known entity that has a long standing record of producing quality products. These exclusions should already, by courtesy, be "excluded" from Malwarebytes. We all know the reason they're not, and this brings up the question of ethical practices. Sure, they may be a competitor. You may already have a friendly relationship with AVG's new tools, or some other PC Fix tools provider. But in truth, aren't you just as interested in being loyal to your own base? Those who like your product, but also want to use iobit? You're not just just alienating iobit, you're alienating "your own fans(potential clients)"! It's not like their files are constantly changing, or their software hasn't popped up on your radar, or that people like me haven't written before about this problem... It's that you don't want to do anything about it. Which leaves me with a real problem. You want me to "trust you" as a provider of quality products, yet within your own offering you "exclude" others with a selfish intent. It's time to bury a hatchet and place iobit's files in exclusion of your filter search! I'm tired of my clients constantly calling me because you consistently change back to showing these files as threats, when you know they absolutely are NOT threats! Fix this! because it's more damaging to "your" image, than it is to theirs!
  22. Hi Team, Hope this finds you well. I am struggling with a virus: ”PUP.Optional.Legacy”. Initially, this virus was showing up in my malware scan. I ran through a few procedures, and now it doesn't. However, it is still showing up in my adware scan. I keep going through "clean & repair," but it does not remove the PUP. I've attached my scan logs for your review. Can you please assist with the next steps?? Kindest, Maurice AdwCleaner[S02].txt Malware scan report.txt FRST.txt Addition.txt
  23. I have a Big Fish game, Mind Snares-Alice's Journey & AdwCleaner states it contains a pup - adware heuristic, I think this is a false positive. Can you double check it? I have excluded it for now. Thanks,
  24. Malwarebytes Premium keeps detecting "PUP.Optional.365Stream". I let it quarantine and delete each instance, but they come back very quickly (hours). They return before the machine is rebooted. How do I locate the re-installer and remove it?
