  1. I currently have the original Malwarebytes Anti-Malware tool for Mac installed on my macbook and want ti upgrade to the new Malwarebytes 3 for mac. The only issue is how should i approach the installation. When i open the MBAM app and upgrade through there, should i wait for Malwarebytes 3 to fully install before uninstalling the older MBAM app? Or can i still use both MBAM and the new Malwarebytes 3 with no interference, or is that a bit over the top? Is MBAM still receiving the same signature updates as Malwarebytes 3 or is it best to upgrade?
  2. Computer shows a pop up saying that "One or more real time protection layers are turned off". What changed? System was working fine until this last week. Any idea what causes this?
  3. Mine is doing the same and when I hit turn on it doesn't work. If I go into the program and select turn on it says starting but never finishes and turns off as soon as I go out.
  4. Salutations, I recently discovered of an attempted intrusion by a variant of the Kotver Trojan. You can find all of the relevant details here (this includes logs from MBAM, HitmanPRO, FSS, FRST, and Kotver itself). According to the technician assisting me, he believes it originated from an exploit ad on a web page or something similar.[1] This reinforces my initial suspicions that WinRAR is the culprit. For some time now, the application has been generating advertisements to convince you to buy a license of their product once the evaluation period has ended (AKA nagware). Malwarebytes' has warned me of this in the past, but the utility of the application outweighed the risks of this so-far benign problem. What further steps should be taken to ensure that there are no remaining remnants or accomplices remaining? Current security arsenal: I operate strictly on a whitelist-as-needed basis both at the system and browser-level. All files expressly downloaded by me are subject to testing in a secure virtual machine prior to execution in a production environment. Apologies for the long rambling, but I want to be as thorough as possible. Any suggestions to further enhance security in a Windows environment would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Hello, I'm trying to update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware definitions of an offline PC by coping them from my main PC. I did RTFM but it is still very unclear to me if said procedure (database.conf + rules.ref ) is still valid today or not. p.s.: yes, I know about the official-provided offline definitions package, but it's 1) big 2) slightly outdated so I'd prefer to pick defs from my own PC. Thanks!
  6. Hello, I'm having an issue with AutoCad 2015 and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, where Autocad crashes all the time when Malwarebytes is installed. I cannot use this program which is fundamental for my work. I've tried uninstalling both programs to no avail. Please help. Cheers.
  7. So, a week or so ago I asked for help because I thought MBAM was malfunctioning, it got solved but I also discovered that the threath scan isn't a full scan, so I did a custom scan to search for viruses in all my hard drive. It discovered five PUPs (and the guy who was helping me noticed another one called FXWebPlayer, but that scan didn't detect it for some reason, so it stills on my PC). I'll leave here the FRST logs and the MBAM one that detected the PUPs, all five of them are quarantined. Also, sorry if my English is bad. If anything more is needed to help me, tell me and I'll reply with the thing needed the fastest posible. Thanks in advance. Addition.txt FRST.txt mbam full scan.txt
  8. When I attempt to click on "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware" from the start menu on PC with "Windows Vista" I get the following error Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Please help. Thank you, User
  9. Hi, I recently updated my 'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware' program and since then I've been getting a log report come up about 5/10mins after starting my computer telling me it stopped a threat called cdn.zeusclicks.com. When scanning my computer with either 'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware' or 'AVG' it doesn't come up with anything. Also I've noticed that my AVG firewall is stopped when first starting my computer up, which I immediately fix. I've researched what it is and it seems as though it attacks browsers to steal banking information. I've called my bank to stop any transactions happening until I get this fixed. I've pasted in the daily protection log from Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: Update, 05/07/2014 01:09:21, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Scheduler, Malware Database, 2014.7.4.9, 2014.7.4.11, Protection, 05/07/2014 01:09:22, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Refresh, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 01:09:22, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Stopping, Protection, 05/07/2014 01:09:22, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Stopped, Protection, 05/07/2014 01:09:27, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Refresh, Success, Protection, 05/07/2014 01:09:27, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 01:09:27, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Started, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:49:41, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malware Protection, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:49:41, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malware Protection, Started, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:49:41, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:50:21, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Started, Update, 05/07/2014 11:50:43, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Scheduler, Malware Database, 2014.7.4.11, 2014.7.5.4, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:50:46, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Refresh, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:50:46, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Stopping, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:50:46, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Stopped, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:50:50, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Refresh, Success, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:50:50, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 11:50:50, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Started, Detection, 05/07/2014 11:52:47, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, IP, 159.253.131.112, cdn.zeusclicks.com, 49818, Outbound, C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe, Detection, 05/07/2014 11:52:47, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, IP, 159.253.131.112, cdn.zeusclicks.com, 49818, Outbound, C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe, Detection, 05/07/2014 11:52:47, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, IP, 159.253.131.112, cdn.zeusclicks.com, 49819, Outbound, C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe, Detection, 05/07/2014 11:56:40, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, IP, 159.253.131.112, cdn.zeusclicks.com, 50485, Outbound, C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe, Detection, 05/07/2014 11:56:41, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, IP, 159.253.131.112, cdn.zeusclicks.com, 50487, Outbound, C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe, Protection, 05/07/2014 15:48:23, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malware Protection, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 15:48:23, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malware Protection, Started, Protection, 05/07/2014 15:48:23, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 15:49:07, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Started, Protection, 05/07/2014 15:55:18, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malware Protection, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 15:55:18, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malware Protection, Started, Protection, 05/07/2014 15:55:18, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Starting, Protection, 05/07/2014 15:55:35, SYSTEM, CHRIS-PC, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Started, (end) Any help will be much appreciated. 10. i just received the update for the new Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.1.1004 (04-13-14@18:00) ... the update was smooth, but the result was anything but smooth... first off Malwarebytes Anti-Malware crashed IE explore (and other things)... PC would not let me uninstall i had to do a sys restore (it gets worse)... after sys restore Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was totally in op. that had me pulling out the big guns Revo Uninstaller sad to say became a pea shooter... this made me pull out the last resort (safe mode), and yes i have msconfig on the task bar (safe boot) (this crap happens way too often to me)... (C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware) i deleted the above file in safe mode and found out that was not good... i had to use regedit to remove your keys... i did a clean install and still gets bad... your prog. wants to block every ip address now... PLEASE do a classic venison this one is un KISS(keep it simple stupid).
  11. Hello, On my PC, a full Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan used to take 1 hour and 15 minutes, but it now takes 2 hours and 15 minutes. I'm wondering if it's because I recently installed Adblock Plus in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. According to two websites, Adblock Plus employs 37,000 filters, so my guess is that having it in both Firefox and Internet Explorer makes it 74,000 filters. Would that be the culprit for adding an hour to my full Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scans? I have recently added the following programs to my PC: January 7, 2014: • Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit • Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit • Adblock Plus • Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon • Webutation January 8, 2014: • Adobe Flash Player 11 for Internet Explorer • Adblock Plus for Internet Explorer January 9, 2014: • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro license activated • InPaint installed from Giveaway of the Day site January 10, 2014: • Uninstalled McAfee Security Scan Plus which came "bundled" with Adobe Flash (I already have McAfee SecurityCenter) Here are the two websites that mention Adblock Plus' 37,000 filters: [1 of 2] Adblock Plus • View topic - Adblock Plus slows Firefox site load time on warm restarts. https://adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17158#p80749 [says Adblock Plus has 37,000 filters.] [2 of 2] How to Remove Ads, Wasted Page Space and Annoying Content http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/how-remove-ads-wasted-page-space-and-annoying-content.htm << Performance After a few years of using ABP, I started searching for the source of the constant freezes and memory leaks I was having in my otherwise smoothly running Firefox. EasyList and the other popular filter lists sadly turned out to be the culprits. This is what I found: (1) ABP with subscription lists enabled accounted for 40% of Firefox's internal memory usage, roughly 40MB or about the same as Firefox's own code (not to be confused with the total RAM usage as reported by Task Manager and the like, which is around 200MB for me). Removing the lists entirely (disabling them is not enough!) and leaving only the manual lists reduced this to 400KB, which is pretty much the average of all add-ons; (2) Firefox reacted much more smoothly and froze much less when loading pages with the lists disabled; (3) EasyList contains 37,000 filters at the moment and more are added every week. Only 100 or 200 of those filters had ever had any hits, despite months or years of browsing. The reason popular filter lists make Firefox slow is because of their size. All filters need to be loaded and possibly applied on each page, which is a gargantuan task. <<
  12. https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=125369 I was browsing the forums just about now and I saw the little shield thing on the google chrome URL Bar, and I'm wondering, what does it do/mean? I'm interested, because its on the MBAM Forums and I'm slightly paranoid about PC issues.
  13. Hello friends, I open this thread because I have the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program trial version for "15 days" (I think). Well, on the main screen of scan, I get down an option called "Buy It Now", which sends me to the sales page of this Anti-Malware program, which is: http://www.malwarebytes.org / lp / Inproduct /. Now, hit the "upgrade now", I get the purchase screen shows me in my case in Mexican currency, which would be $ 335.03 MXN = 30 USD (approximately). Now ... I see the following methods of payment: VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX, JCB, and finally transfer Paypal. Actually my doubt is, will implement the Bitcoin as a payment method ever? Since I usually buy this type of currency, since transfers are completely anonymous and easy to use. Would be very useful for me and for many users who want to buy with this type of currency. I hope your answers, greetings!
