  1. My windows 10 Microsoft Surface laptop has recently stopped working, something I suspect is caused by a virus. The other day I lent my laptop to my brother so that he could work remotely from it. He downloaded Anydesk, as well as OpenVPN (according to him, he just googled them and downloaded the first link). He was recently notified by his work that their network was infected with a virus which case from his machine. As soon as he told me this, I downloaded Avast and ran a scan, but from this point my laptop kept freezing any time I tried to install, uninstall or run any kind of antivirus software. I installed malwarebytes and had the same issue. After trying to fix it for a while, I decided to reset the pc, keeping the files. Once this completed, the laptop seemed to run better until I downloaded malwarebytes and ran a scan (with all of the advanced search settings switched on). Although it returned nothing, file explorer started opening repeatedly which I’m fairly sure was caused by the virus. Now, the laptop won’t properly boot up. Instead, it gets stuck in an ‘automatic repair’ loop. I cant continue to Windows 10, or it just switches off and goes back to the Automatic Repair screen. I also cannot reset my PC by removing everything - this simply starts loading and then returns me to the previous screen a few seconds later. Does anyone know how I might me able to fix my laptop and remove this virus? I have no issues with completely resetting the PC, as I don’t have many important documents on it. Thanks
  2. I've scanned my pc with Malwarebytes, it has found 16 PUP's to quarantine, so I told it to do so and it now has reached 2000 of 16 threats qurantined, and it doesn't look like it's stopping any time soon. Does anyone know what to do?
  3. Hi, This morning I woke up to my laptop finishing a Win 10 update, but a few things seemed wrong. At first there was no audio, so I restarted. Then the audio was way too loud, so I thought something might be wrong with the driver, and I restarted. This whole time, Malwarebytes was trying to download an update, same as it usually does every so often. After I finally gave in and updated, I restarted again. After that, I got a BSOD saying mbamswissarmy.sys was corrupted and that Windows 10 was gathering data to try to repair. The repair failed and now I'm in an automatic repair loop, where the repair fails and directs me to a Logfile called SrtTrail.txt or something. I don't have any restore points to go back to, and resetting the computer "keeping personal files" fails instantly too. I can access the command prompt, though it's a bit weird because it says X:\windows\system32> when I thought my hard drive was C:\. But I've seen other topics about this get resolved here with some kind of FRST tool? I do have an external hard drive with some free space on it that I can use as a USB drive. If there's a way to fix this issue, I'd greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!
  4. Howdy, Every time I install, it says it needs to reboot to complete, after reboot, it tries to install, says it needs to reboot to complete, etc. I read through: and I don't have the registry keys for: 1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware_is1 2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{35065F43-4BB2-439A-BFF7-0F1014F2E0CD}_is1 Attached are my results from Check, Clean, and FRST. Thanks, Harold mb-check-results.zip
  5. Hi, I want to install the latest free Malwarebytes program but when it is about to install, I need to restart my computer. Once my pc is restarted, the installation window pops up. When I want to install, it asks me to restart my computer. Why does it keep asking me to restart my pc? This way, I'm unable to install the program. I have Windows 8.1 64bit. Thanks
