  1. I'm using Malwarebytes Premium and ESET NOD32 Antivirus (latest versions). I've had them both for years, running in the systray (Win 7, Win 10) with no conflicts whatsoever. I've opened this thread to ask you if upgrading to ESET Internet Security is safe or if there's any conflicts with Malwarebytes. Apart from the Antivirus, I'll get some added protection: Firewall Network Attack Protection Antispam Banking & Payment Protection Botnet Protection Parental Control Webcam Protection Network Inspector Anti-Theft Here's the complete comparison. https://www.eset.com/int/home/for-windows/ Hopefully, there won't be any conflicts, but I'd like a confirmation from other users before upgrading. Thanks! :)
  2. After running a scan using Malwarebytes i restart the computer and it won't fully restart. I can get to the login page, I login and the screen just goes black with the cursor visible and stays that way. I started it again in safe mode, uninstalled Malwarebytes, and restarted again and was able to login just fine, however i still have some malware. I saw another post where someone had something similar happen to them and you guys were able to determine that they had a backdoor trojan called Rootkit.ZeroAccess. Needless to say, I'm a bit concerned.
  3. I was attempting to download a PDF for a Pro-Form treadmill which I just sold to a friend, and one of the links downloaded "Internet Security" Virus. It got past Malwarebytes on the way in. I restarted in safe mode, and Malwarebytes quick scan seemed to fix it (it seemed to have renamed the .exe for most of my programs), but when I restarted normal again, the "Internet Security" virus started again. Per initial direction, I ran dds.com, and here are the 2 resulting files: ATTACH.TXT: --------------------------------------- . UNLESS SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED, DO NOT POST THIS LOG. 4. Right now I have AVG running in safe mode, and I was going to try a full scan in Malwarebytes, and then maybe a System Restore, but last time I had a problem I came here and you fixed me up fast and sure, so I'm here again. Would you recommend any of the things I listed in this paragraph, or do you have another recommendation? Thanks, Mike
  5. The other day I contracted one of those fake anti-virus viruses, "Internet Security - Designed to Protect". After re-starting my computer in Safe Mode, I ran Malwarebytes, which found three results. I removed them all and attempted to re-start. At this point my computer will make it past the "Starting Windows" screen, but never to the log-on screen. It hangs on a black screen with only a cursor indefinitely. The only thing I seem to be able to do at that point is to turn the comp off and then on again, and then use startup-repair to run system restore. At that point my computer will boot up normally, but once I'm back into Windows the virus takes over again. I only have that one restore point sadly. .UNLESS SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED, DO NOT POST THIS LOG.IF REQUESTED, ZIP IT UP & ATTACH IT.DDS (Ver_2012-11-20.01).Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Boot Device: \Device\HarddiskVolume1Install Date: 9/13/2011 1:14:21 PMSystem Uptime: 7/22/2013 9:21:14 PM (0 hours ago).Motherboard: LENOVO | | Base Board Product NameProcessor: Intel® Pentium® CPU B940 @ 2.00GHz | CPU1 | 1995/1333mhz.==== Disk Partitions =========================.C: is FIXED (NTFS) - 6. Norton Internet Security says to uninstall MBAM to allow their product to operate properly. I've had both products co-exist peacefully for many years, so what changed recently? See screenshot:
  7. New to the forums here (and Malwarebytes itself), so I'll start with saying 'hello!' With that done, I have a few questions and am hoping to find some opinions. I've been a user of AVG's IS for a few years now, but their recent 2013 edition is causing some wariness for one reason or another. Considering myself as something of a 'semi-advanced' user, I'm considering dropping AVG products altogether, and have thus been looking at other suites to fill the gap (namely Bitdefender and Kaspersky). Now, while I'd love some opinions on those, I'm more interested in just dropping the suites (and all their useless extras) altogether, and going with a more layered, mix and match style of protection that's a little slimmer, and only really has what I actually need. So I guess the question is, what would you, more longtime users of Malwarebytes suggest for that approach? I understand both avast! and Avira are highly recommended (and high scoring) AV programs, and work well with Malwarebytes. How about firewalls? I've read a bit about Comodo, but what are the (stronger, if any) alternates to that, and how do they fair? Antispyware? Spybot? Hitman Pro? Any other security recommendations for a solid, stable experience? As a bonus, I would love software which also provides tablet protection, as I plan on gifting myself a new Android tablet this year over the holidays (and I'd just prefer to have the same software both on my PC and my tablet). As a final note, the products in question don't need to be free. I'm more than willing to pay for some solid software (such as Malwarebytes Pro, which I already picked up) and support the developers. Thanks in advance!
