  1. Hello guys, I am new to this forum and if this topic is not posted in proper section, mods can move it proper location. The problem starts when I install 1 software on my windows 8 desktop PC and suddenly advertisements started appearing on my browsers as well as on sometimes on desktop. I have checked extension panel of my browser and found nothing new has been added by that software. I am literally tired of this malware/adware. Can anybody suggest a valid solution over this issue?
  2. DNS unlocker hijacks certain webpages in Opera browser. I must have accidentally downloaded it with an app, but how to tell which one? How to delete?
  3. So I've had this problem for a long time, and for a while I've been able to fix it but now I'm out of options. When I say, "I've been able to fix it" I mean that I made it go away and for maybe about a few months or so I haven't had problems, then it just randomly popped back up. I have a feeling it comes back whenever I restart the PC (I don't normally shut down my PC, but when family uses it they do :/). Anyways I've watched videos, read forum posts and have done a bunch of stuff that has not worked. A summary of things I've done: 1. Uninstalled DNS Unlocker 2. Removed adware extensions on Chrome 3. Cleared browsing data on Chrome (checked off all boxes except password) 4. Uninstalled and Reinstalled Chrome (multiple times) 5. Checked Task Manager for foreign processes 6. Ran Malwarebytes Threat Scan (it didn't find any issues) 7. Ran Mcafee Antivirus Plus Full Scan (didn't find any issues) Other things to note: 1. The malware has infected both Chrome and Steam 2. It only affects those two programs (Internet Explorer works just fine, unfortunately) I am desperate and am willing to try anything. Please help!
  4. Hi, I seem to be in the same position as Manbaby (Posted 25 August 2015 - 11:37 AM). Have been through all the steps I can find to remove 'DNSUnlocker', run Kaspersky, Malwarebytes, tried removing 'addons', but couldn't find any. Finally I have followed the instructions in this topic up to the point where you advise using Rogue Killer but 'not fixing anything'. I didn't fix anything. You then advise sending some of the log files and waiting for ypour response. Please see attached below. DNSUnlocker appears on all my browsers (Explorer, Chrome and Firefox). <2015-08-31A Malwarebytes Scan Result.xml> is result before removal of files. <2015-08-31B Malwarebytes Scan Result.xml> is a scan after removal of files Thanks, TT280 2015-08-31A Malwarebytes Scan Result.xml2015-08-31B Malwarebytes Scan Result.xml Addition.txt FRST.txt Roguekiller Export TXT Log 2015-08-31A.txt
  5. I am running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium since 2014 along side Norton 360 Prmeier (that is more recent upgrade, a few months ago but before that always running current Norton product). So I was shocked when all of a sudden my computer started getting ads from DNS Unlocker. What I don't understand is, why this could happen? A scan from both Norton and Malwarebytes show NOTHING, and in trying to track this down a couple of sites recommended Spyhunter (I did first folllow a bunch of different recommendations to remove the malware but it comes back after a few minutes). To my suprise, Spyhunter shows 275 threats - now I realize they want me to spend money (unlike Malwarebytes that will fix problems for free and helping a customer back a few years back clean a virus convinced me I should go ahead and get that paid Malwarebytes version) so I realize they are taking every single possible cookie, etc and show it and call it adware but I still can't figure out how between my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium subscription AND Norton my system shows ZERO problems when clearly there is one (for sure the DNS Unlocker as it at least tags itself when presenting this endless ads), here is just a short list of the ones found by Spyhunter (I am typing this on my tablet so hand retyping the list): 2o7 Adserver Adtech Advert Adware Helper Adware MovieDea Atlast DMT Atwola pup, crossbrowser the list goes on and on. The system is so bad (there is other behavior, going program to program is slow and this on an I-7 with an SSD driver and the screen flikcers - I think because it has slowed down so much) and I am in a position that I can reformat the hard drive and start over that I am thinking of just doing that - but the question is how Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium be missing all of these? I recommend it to clients, etc but what ever web site I visited on Thursday (I can't remember anything special, but that is when it happened), totally took over a machine with zero problems for years, with zero warning and zero fixes. I have not done the restore yet, I would obvioulsy like to avoid that, but like I said, I can if I have to, but the other point is, what am I paying for (and telling clients to buy) if this can happen? Thank you for tips, help, and answers! Michael Kneebone
