  1. ok things are getting wrose now , this is the second time i've done a clean instal of malware bytes and it still can't compelte a full system scan , i recall one of the times a scan was running before it got stuck it detected 26 items , but since it was stuck i couldn't do anything about it , then later i tried to scan parts of the computer indavidually , sometimes the scan would complete before it got frozen and others times it wouldn't , but i eventually scanned through all of my dirrectories and only ended up finding a couple things to be removed , so idk where those other detected items went.... and since then i now see my com showing clear signs of infection in my broswer certain text is being highlted as clickable links for spam now , i wasn't able to identify any processes in task that could be the cause of this , and i was able to run and complete full scans with other programs consisting of super anti spyware , mss and mmrt , which only super anti spyware found my browser coockies and i trojan i think it was and got those removed but it didn't fix either of these problems.... already tried running malware bytes in safe mode and the same result happened , gets stuck on a file and wont do anything else ever at all , tried leaving it alone for many hours to see if it would eventually get past whatever it was stuck on but it didn't..... i so far have only tried running a licenced version of the program , doing custom scan to enable scannning for rootkits , why that isn't part of the default scan is byoned my..... but so far it seems the program can never make it past 20 minutes of scanning before getting stuck.... so im at a loss of what to do now.....
  2. Hello everyone, I am new to the community and was looking for some assistance with a problem I have been having with the new Malewarebytes Anti-Maleware version 2.0.2.1012 during my scans. The problem I am experiencing is MBAM will crash during a scan and my computer will also freeze up and I will be unable to do anything. I have to hold the power button down until the computer shuts off and restart it. The problem occurs when I am running a custom scan with the following custom scanning options enabled: scan memory objects, scan startup and registry settings, scan archives and scan for rootkits. I select my hdd and ssd as the locations to scan. Once it starts scanning the system drivers it freezes on "object scanned" number 108. It freezes on this specific object everytime. I've tried running it in safe mode and the same thing occurs. I figured it might have something to do with the scan rootkit option being enabled so I downloaded MBAR and that also freezes, except I can see the name of the file and it is igdkmd64.sys. My research shows that this is related to the integrated intel HD 4000 gpu? Either way I'm not sure if that is related or not. I've searched the forums and was unable to find anything that can help. I don't believe this is related to any actual infection but I'm not an expert and it's always possible there is an infectoin. I tried the mbam cleaner to remove the software and redownloaded it and that did not help. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and sorry for the lengthy e-mail. BTW I'm running a lenovo y580, win 7 64 bit, gtx 660m nvidia gpu, intel i7 3610q quad core processor with hybrid ssd and hdd. If it makes a difference with advice or suggestions on where to start. Cheers
  3. Hi. I'm a graphics person, so I use a wacom tablet as my primary input device for my Vaio laptop running Windows 7. The tablet has its own mouse and pen. The buttons and links (Scan/Settings/History/Details…) on MBAM 2.0 (Premium) don't recognize mouse clicks via tablet, and since I have my track pad disabled because of sensitivity issues, I cannot interact with the application. I think this was the same in the last version, so I had to re-enable my trackpad, which causes me grief on many other levels. If you need any information about drivers/versions, please contact me through the forum and I will be happy to help. Thank you! Amy.
  4. Hi, Over the past few months my computer has been rapidly going downhill, starting with slight slowdown to a point now where programs such as Firefox and Chrome not working and it is extremely slow. System restore is not an option as there are no dates on the list which can be restored. Malwarebytes does not work, with a message about a group policy appearing as soon as I try to start it. Although a few days ago it did work and removed a few threats, I get the feeling there is more at fault here than just malware. The computer is getting worse and worse to use, so any help at all with how to get it better would be extremely helpful. Thanks for any help you can give. Tom.
  5. hi guys! i need some help with my samsung laptop.i got windows 7 OS and core i7 intel.it constantly hangs/freezes in the middle of my usage and can't do anything after that except reboot by turning off through the power button of the laptop,it also freezes when it gets to the end of my malwarebytes full scan.when i run it on safe mode it works fine and no freezing/hanging of the system.i suspect there is a virus infection.please help me! thanks in advance
  6. Incredible software. TY!! Quick scan found 300 PUPs in over 30k files. Do I only delete the 3 software selected checked ones or the entire 300 list from the MalwarBytes results log? Are any of them important to keep? Below are the 3 selected 'Adware's followed by two similar software-unselected PUP files. All dealing with FlashPlayer. After that is the entire list of 300. My problem is tons of ads popping up and an especially upper right hand screen corner rolling down in various degrees to reveal an underlying ad. Further, my cursor and screen freeze. 7. Every time I run Malewarebytes Quick Scan, there will come a point where I hear a clicking sound, then shorty afterwards, the entire computer will freeze and I will have to shut it down and restart it. I have had two separate but successful runs of the Full Scan, but when I tried it recently, it also hung the computer just as the Quick Scan did. I have checked my drive every which way and never get any error messages, nor do I ever hearing clicking, except with Malewarebytes. I would really like to use Malwarebytes on my computer, because everyone says it's the best. But I can never depend on it when it comes to scanning my computer. Can you help me?
  8. So I encountered an issue here about 1-2 weeks ago. My computer on startup will freeze right when getting to the windows desktop, right after the Task bar shows up before the icon's appear. I am able to full start my computer when the Protection module is set to not start with windows. I can still go and start the protection module after windows fully starts up but the drawback is I don't always remember to. Any ideas?
  9. Guys, and Gals, Been dealing with this for a while now. Stated when Firefox 25 froze the whole computer and I had to do a hard restart (couldn’t push any buttons, when I did gave me the beep sound from BIOS). Happened the next day when using a word document. Wife’s computer, it’s a Dell, went from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Then back to Win7 because Windows 8 was garbage, and a student test copy, but I digress. Looking at the logs from DDS I now see some of the issues, but I will leave it with the pros, being that I got work to do. I've tried the following: AVG 2014 free addition antivirus and rootkit scan (I’ve added Malewarebytes, and Malewarebytes Root Kit to AVG excluded list as per the info from y’all), Ran full scans with Malewarebytes, Mbar RootKit, (even did both with Chameleon just to be sure, first time this happened 5 days ago I couldn’t get Rootkit to run without Chameleon). Tried to fixdamage.exe, ran CCleaner, also did all of these in Safe Mode w/Networking. Ran BIOS tests, (full test took a day to do), Memory, HD, cards etc. Windows updater, maintenance, almost everything I know of. (Short of burning the system down…. Again) Turned off as many processes and services as I could; WIA, search, IPv6, Windows Search, on an on, just trying to get indexing to stop, and memory to come down. Cleaned and turned off as many items during startup as I could to stop my memory hog. In safe mode it runs a lot better, but didn't do a side by side to see the rate of change. I know a lot of Event and Admin Logs in Windows are turned on, but they should over write. Any ways, here a screen shot of my memory usage when I started to type this letter. And the logs. Is this a virus? Old Win8 process? Some help please. Thanks in advanced. (Side note, I have the .old.Windows file still on the Computer, I plan on moving it over to external storage, but I will wait to see if you want me to or not. That is why the HD has limited space and could be some of the issue. Screen Shot is attached. Shows total memory at 4056, cached 2056 Available 2033 Free 0 LOGS . 10. 4 year old laptop. It has worked very well until about a month ago when it began occasionally freezing when watching videos. Also, if I have many tabs open (google chrome). I bought a laptop cooling pad, but that doesn't seem to help. The only thing that fixes it is waiting a few minutes. Could it be a virus or malware, or is it just hardware? Thanks
  11. I have been trying to run a full scan with malwarebytes and it freezes at my temporary internet files each time. I have tried to run the scan in safe mode as well and to no avail. I originally tried running the scan because I have had a program (svchost.exe) that has been running what I think is high on memory (200,000kb) and my ram% continues to rise until I restart. Also I have been able to run a quick scan which reveals no threats or viruses. I have used cc cleaner and tried to run the scan and it still freeze. I have run the mbam program just fine but when I try to run a dds scan it gets 3/4 of the way through and stays there.Turned off internet and no firewalls or protection on. I waited for an hour a couple times and it does not advance.

  14. Hi there moderators. This is a followup from a post from a while back with a similar topic title. I had posted info about new incompatibility with Eset NOD 32. I'd like to continue exploring this as it is unresolved and the plot only thickened with a new recent discovery! Here is the original post: [snip] Hello. I haven't seen anyone post about NOD32 Antivirus 4.x. I install the free version on most of my customer's machines. Win7/Vista = no problems. WinXP SP3 = same hard crashing as mentioned above by many. I am one person, but am a tech and have installed MB 1.60.1.1000 & 1.60.1.1800 on dozens of machines in the past month or three and I am getting SLAMMED with calls about computer freezes from my customers with XP. When 1.60.1.1000 first came out and started crashing machines, I did indeed use the MBAM_cleaner to perform a clean uninstall. Upon reinstallation it seemed to work for a bit, but alas, 1.60.1.1800 came out and auto downloaded and all the machines starting crashing again upon reboot. (Quietly in the back of my head, I thought, they didn't fix all of it yet... I hope someone tells them about the newly created incompatibility with NOD32!) The IMPORTANT part of my story is that this is even happening with NEW WINDOWS BUILDS, meaning, I have: tested the hard drive for bad sectors, wiped the hard drive, reinstalled windows, patched windows fully, disabled windows firewall, installed MB 1.60.1.1800, then NOD32 Antivirus 4.x and then CRASH! No need to use the cleaner as this is a brand new build. I am one person, but have experienced this hard crashing described in this thread on dozens of XP SP3 machines most of them being new builds with the commonality of NOD32 Antivirus 4.x and MB 1.60.1.1800, and in the case of old builds, the problem persists after using the clean uninstall utility and reinstalling 1.60.1.1800 from scratch. As soon as you enable the protection module... BLAM! Within a few seconds, it's cyber bedlam. You cannot stop NOD32 from running its startup scan. My temp fix is to disable the protection module so I have control of the machine long enough to uninstall MB. Even with the protection module off, the MBAM.exe process still runs and crashes the machine at startup, so I have to uninstall the program entirely and wait for the next version which will hopefully have a fix. Hopefully with the info contained in this post, you wonderful folks at MB will be able to contact "Eset", the makers of NOD32, and have a chit chat... I have touted MB for years as being a rare and wonderfully harmonious program that just seems to work well with others. My winning combination of protection was NOD32 2.x and then 4.x, MB and SuperAntiSpyware. I could run all three program scans at once with NO problems as they all scan in different ways and don't step on each other’s toes. But with the advent of MB version 1.60.1.1000, something went awry. Please, please, please know that 1.60.1.1800 has NOT solved all the issues! Thanks, Jayneg [end snip] I have to make some clarifications/additions to that 1st post: 1. This only affects paid for /trial versions of MB. The free version is fine due to MBAM service not running... 2. I may have been hallucinating, but I swear I BRIEFLY saw a version 1.60.1.1800. It may have only been out there for an hour or a day, and that's what I thought was the latest version when I 1st wrote the post a while back. In the end, it doesn't matter. The problem began in the version just before 1.60.1.1000 (1.60.0.1800?) and persists in the current version! Plus I made a new discovery which I will detail in a bit 4. One of the admin’s replies to this first post: "I would love to test this out for you Jayneg but I'm not aware of any "free" version from ESET. They do offer a 30 free trial but it's certainly not a free version that I'm aware of. If you can provide more details on that I will investigate this error you're speaking of." *To clarify, when I am preparing a machine, I install the trial (which is a full version, but with a 30 day countdown timer). After this trial period is up, many customers go on to purchase the full program... But it did not matter if it was the trial or the paid version, the problem was occurring regardless. I realize I used the word "free" instead of "trial" in the original post. Sorry for the confusion. 3. After posting this, I started migrating folks over to the latest release of NOD 32 5.x to satisfy the MB admin's request and POOF! Same problem with the ADDITION of a new problem: 4. In NOD 5.x, there is a new feature that watches for and scans removable media when 1st inserted. Well, if MBAM.exe is running in Win XP SP3, your machine quickly grinds to a HALT whenever an external hard drive or USB key is inserted. The only solution: hard kill! I will give the link to the thread AND cut & paste from the forum I found this info on: http://www.wildersse...ad.php?t=309335 [snip from page 7, post #155] March 5th, 2012, 06:58 AM rcdailey Regular Poster Join Date: Dec 2009 Posts: 141 Re: NOD 32 5.0.93.0 & 5.0.94.0:PC freezes when USB HD is connected Quote: Originally Posted by Marcos Oswald2 resolved the issue by installing the hotfix already provided to those who requested it here before. I believe that I have isolated and resolved the issue I was having with NOD32 v 5.0.95.0. The conflict that I found and eliminated was with MalwareBytes. I have the paid version of that software and I found that even with real-time protection disabled in MalwareBytes, the MBAM service would still load with Windows. This service was what prevented ESET NOD32 from checking when a drive was initially connected to the system while up and running. When this happened, the system would lock up. By either disabling the MBAM service or setting it to "manual," the conflict went away and the popup to select the action to take with respect to the USB drive would display and the appropriate option could be selected. In any case, with my system running XP SP3, this is what I found and how I decided to handle it. I also have SuperAntiSpyware ver 5.0.1144 installed and running in real-time and it does not conflict with NOD32 ver 5.0.95.0. It is a little disappointing to have to disable MalwareBytes, but I can live with it. I can now connect a USB hard drive while the system is running and it won't lock up. I can remove a USB hard drive while the system is running and it won't lock up. If anyone else using XP SP3 is running MalwareBytes in real-time and is having issues with ESET NOD32 v 5.x, try disabling the MBAM service and see whether that solves the problem. Adding to this, MalwareBytes will run a scan and can be updated manually without the MBAM Service enabled. I have checked that just now and can confirm that. Also, if the MBAM Service is set to "manual" it does not load when MalwareBytes is run. For most people who like to use MalwareBytes, that should be enough and there won't be a conflict with ESET NOD32 ver 5.x. One more note: If you do have the paid version of MalwareBytes and you decide to re-enable protection, then the MBAM Service will be reset to "automatic" and it will load with Windows, so keep that in mind. [end snip] My only comment on rcdailey's post is that when you change the MBAM service to manual start in "services", MB starts spitting out periodic error messages about not being able to perform expected tasks. So, to me, this is not an option when preparing a customer's machine. They won't understand/want to see any error messages on a clean built/fixed machine. So AGIAN, my only option is to uninstall MB! Boo! I'd like to also add that I vouch for rcdailey's post. I tested it out. NOD32 + MBAM service running + plug in USB HD/USB key = disaster (hard kill only way to shut machine off) As soon as I turn MBAM service off, all systems nominal! I think MBAM service and NOD removable media watch service (not sure which process it is) are fighting! In closing, I assert that this is happening on ALL the XP machines I'm working on (over 100 by now) and there are no infections and that the systems are fully patched and all hardware is tested good. Final clarification: The problem where the XP machine would just lock/freeze at startup just outright without doing anything else seems to have gone away, although NOT with the release of the latest version. Did you guys sneak in a mini-patch on one of the definition updates? XP seems to get through the startup sequence now without crashing on its own, but only as of about a few weeks ago?!? (mystery) So I thought to myself YEAY! They fixed it in an unadvertised, non-version number changing mini-patch! I began installing it again on all my customer machines and then got hit with the External HD problem! ARGH! One last observation: There is even new quirky behavior in a few Win7 machines with NOD 5.x and MB newest ver. Again, it usually happens right at startup when I sometimes try to terminate mbam service from taking over 100% processor, so i can quickly bring up a video or program, the machine will lock up just like with XP. It feels different and of course it is being brought on by my terminating a running service, but the combo of Eset and MB both eating up startup juice for the first two minutes is sometimes too much to bear. & windows shouldn't totally hose itself from terminating a "non-critical" process. This is just a side note; something to think about in the future... The MAIN problem is XP as outlined above. What other info do you need from me to help you resolve this? NOD & MB used to work harmoniously together. Now between the latest few releases from both companies, this has changed... Please get on the "phone" with Eset and do some testing collaboratively. THANKS- Jayneg
  15. I am running Windows XP, connecting to a server running Windows 7. When I try to connect to certain programs on the network, my computer freezes for 11 minutes. It's happened so many times that I know the exact time of freezing. I have Malarebytes version 1.61.0.1400. When I remove Malwarebytes from my computer, the freezing does not occur. Please advise. Thanks.
  16. Is anyone else having issues when pairing Malwarebytes with Sophos Anitivirus? When both are installed windows explorer randomly locks up and everything becomes unresponsive. The machine must be manually powered off to fix this. In order to get both programs working correctly I must disable the on-access scanning feature within Sophos. I've notived that it's only the "read" option for on-access scanning that causes the problem; I can leave the "write' and "rename" options selected. I have purchased a corporate license to install mbam on all of our machines but need to figure out how to fix this issue before rolling it out. We are using Sophos endpoint security ver 10.0 ( also happens on 9.5) Malwarebytes - 1.51.2.1300 Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
  17. Hello! I was told by Gringo from BleepingComputer.com to come here and tell you about some issues I'm having with Malwarebytes. I am working on a friend's laptop and Gringo over at BleepingComputer has been very helpful but we have not been able to get Malwarebytes working properly. Here is what happens. The computer seems to run fine but when I start a Malwarebytes scan (usually a quck scan) it scans for a few seconds then freezes (not responding) for a while. If I let it sit it sometimes snaps out of it and continues the scan, but then it freezes again. If I let it sit longer it sometimes snaps out of it again to scan a little bit more, but then shortly after that it freezes again. This can happen upwards of five or so times during a scan. The laptop has yet to finish a Malwarebytes scan. Gringo instructed me to uninstall Malwarebytes (even running the mbam-clean exe) and then installing the program again. This did not fix it either. I am truly stumped and would appreciate any help you guys have to offer. Thank you for your time and any help you can provide. Basic Computer info: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit Sony VAIO laptop
