  1. Attempting to follow steps as defined in the forum by users who have similar problems. Am at the point to submit files and request professional assistance. Attached are the Roguekiller and Malware logs. Pre Malware Cleanup.txt RKreport_SCN_11082014_163644.log
  2. Hi - I'm having the same problem that a lot of people have posted about with dllhost.exe and cannot get rid of it. I've ran malwarebytes premium and it detected some items, but worried that the problem will come back like with other users. Scan log attached. Please help! Threat Scan Log.txt
  3. Hello - I've been reading about a lot of people with similar problem. About 5 days ago, internet access slowed to a crawl, with lots of "this page cannot be displayed" failures. Opening Windows Task Manager, I noticed many "dllhost.exe *32" processes ("COM Surrogate"), which I could force-quit one by one - but not the "dllhost.exe" (without the "*32"), which it wouldn't let me kill. After force-quitting them all, a few minutes later they would re-appear. No matter how many force-quits, they always pop up. I am running Internet Explorer 11 (version 11.0.13 KB2987107), and in the Internet Option --> Security window, for the "Internet" security zone, I noticed the security level is set to "Custom". When I open the details, there are many things that are enabled. When I reset to default "Medium-High" (which is where I've previously always had it), many of those things are no longer enabled. (If necessary I can post a complete list.) After I do the reset to "Medium-High" and kill all the "dllhost.exe *32" processes, things appear as normal for a few minutes, when suddenly a new swarm of "dllhost.exe *32" processes appear and then when I check Internet Explorer security settings for the Internet, they have magically reset themselves to "Custom". I tried all of these, which did not solve anything: CCleaner, AVGFree 2015, Malwarebytes. (I don't have Norton, MacAfee, Kaspersky, etc.) I also noticed that C:\Users\<myname>\AppData\Local\Temp\ fills up with hundreds of folders, sometimes as many as 2-3 per minute for certain stretches when many of these dllhost processes are active. And, just today, as of 8:46AM, AVG 2015 threat detection is blocking/removing "Poweliks" exactly every 60 seconds with a pop-up window: Object Name = "HKEY_USERS\<lots of numbers>" (I can include it if necessary), and Process Name: "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe" My PC is Dell XPS8300 running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. My laptop which is connected to the home network, does not have these problems. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE any help you might offer! Thank you in advance.
  4. Computer started running slow yesterday. My free version of Avast found three problems and tried to fix. I downloaded Malwarebytes and it also fixed some problems. Looking in my Task Manager, Processes tab I see a few entreis for dllhost.exe *32 COM Surrogate. File Properties for them are C:\Windows\SysWOW64. For kicks I manually killed them and performance improved, but a few mins later my system again degraded. Attached are my Farbar FRST.txt and Addition.txt log files. Thanks. FRST.txt Addition.txt
  5. Looks like a Poweliks issue... My system is running very slow and seems the memory is taken up with multiple dllhost.exe *32 COM Surrogate running. Malwarebytes identifies outbound traffic to fff5ee.com and other IP addresses when a browser is not even open. Norton 360 warns of Trojan.poweliks and Trojan.adclicker. Once the dllhost.exe process does show up in the task manager MalwareBytes constantly pops up blocking websites of various IPs that are all trying to be accessed by C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe. 6. I'm having the same issues posted over this past day or so as other members with complaints about dllhost.exe (COM Surrogate) running multiple instances, getting "High CPU Usage" warnings from Norton Antivirus, Malwarebytes popup blocking outgoing malicious website blocked (fff5ee.com), and then I eventually get a notice that Powershell has crashed. I've run Farbar as instructed (https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/) and below are the results (both attached - post was too long for copy/paste) Thanks so much!!! 7. Like many others, I'm having the corrupt dllhost.exe * 32 multiple processes issues causing slowdown and trying to connect to fff5ee.com and some other miscellaneous, malicious IP, on a computer I'm needing to fix for someone. Any help would be appreciated, or if it doesn't need to be a custom fix, pointing me to the right pre-existing thread would work too! It also begs the question, would simply replacing dllhost.exe with a fresh version fix it? I've already ran a full scan. As of last night, nothing erroneous turns up in the results.
  8. I am receiving malicious site blocked fff5ee.com It liste the process as dllhost.exe. I see that you often start with running FRST.exe and having people submit the two attached files. let me know the next steps. Addition.txt FRST.txt
  9. Hi, I'm having the same problem that others on this forum have reported. Process named "dllhost.exe *32" is running multiple times in Task Manager and taking CPU usage and Physical memory up close to 100%. Problem seems to be related to IE (Explorer is now saying there is a problem with content security settings for downloads?). Performed malwarebytes quick scan yesterday and detected and removed a number of threats. Not long after running malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Essentials gave a warning about a trojan virus infection...ran scan and deleted 3 possible malicious files/threats. Have re-run malwarebytes and Security Essentials and both are coming up clean now. However, the dllhost.exe problem persists and seems to may be getting worse. I went into Windows Firewall and blocked the dllhost.exe process both inbound and outbound. Doing this has allowed me to work on the computer again and Task Manager shows CPU usage down to about 5-10%...physical memory is in the 50-70% range. I downloaded and ran FRST..attached are the log files. Any help would be greatly appreciated....thanks! Kathy FRST.txt Addition.txt
  10. I am having the same issue with the dllhost.exe COM Surrogate where this is continually spun up and consumes all of the system resources. I attempted to remove myself with no luck. Can you help me out? Thanks!
  11. Hello, I just noticed last night that my computer was sluggish and found multiple huge dllhost.exe processes. I first thought it was a windows glitch but I noticed it was sending info out via procmon. mbam blocks sends to fff5ee.com, search.blinkxcore.com and the ip address 95.215.1.57.. Don't know how I got this, but when you can, I'll be grateful if you could help me get it out, and round up a bunch of pitchforks and torches and some mobs for the bad people who made this! mbam shows no threats after repeated scans. Thank you
  12. Hi and thanks in advance. My computer was running SLOW and I opened Task Manager to find MANY instances of dllhost.exe running and using up all my power. After researching, I downloaded the premium version of malware but it didn't solve the problem (No malicious items were detected). I browsed through some forums here and found that I needed to save the log as a text and its attached. Please let me know what I can do. Thanks! mbam-log-2014-10-30 (08-34-46).txt
  13. Greetings, all! I ran into the same virus that a lot of people on this forum are coming in contact with... Please advise the best starting point to get rid of this awful thing? I have attempted to mirror the efforts by others on this site and had some success but now it is back with a vengeance. Please advise - Thank you!
  14. Had a very slow pc using lots of CPU and many processes. Installed MalwareBytes and it removed one threat but constantly getting malcious websites blocked... specifically fffsee.com and a few others. I'm attaching the FRST file and the Additions file as requested. Addition.txt FRST.txt
  15. Hello, I have a user that I believe has gotten something similar to the "Poweliks" Trojan. Multiple processes are running that are labeled "dllhost.exe". Multiple running from syswow64 that are taking up most if not all of the CPU usage. Also user noticed multiple instances of Powershell that crashed. I have since disconnected from the internet and run MBAM which only detected Trojan.Kovter. We have McAfee SAAS installed on all machines and this one was up to date with latest definitions. I would appreciate any help provided! Thank you!
  16. Hello all and thanks in advanced. I first noticed about two weeks ago with laptop overheating and multiple instances of dllhost.exe running. Started reading up on it and am now very concerned about a security hack. Attached are the logs from FRST which I assume from posts are needed to initially diagnose the problem. Thanks again for any help. FRST.txt Addition.txt
  17. Please help. I am a first time poster, so hope I posted in the correct area. This morning Malwarebytes started blocking a continual stream of outgoing attempts referencing dllhost.exe. Norton Internet Security blocked Trojan.powelik and Trojan.adclicker. After reading a few similar posts I am attaching the "Addition.txt" & "FRST.txt" files that were generated by the FABAR Recovery tool on my computer. Thank you! Ben Addition.txt FRST.txt
  18. Help! Last evening (10-27-14), Malwarebytes started blocking numerous outgoing IP addresses while I was browsing the internet. I added them to the 'Excluded List', but my browser is S L O W. Checking my Task Manager, there are about 20 instances of DLLHOST.EXE COM Surrogate running and eating up my CPU capacity. After a little checking around, I downloaded the FARBAR RECOVERY SCAN TOOL and ran it. I tried to cut-and-paste the files in this forum, but they will not paste. I am attaching the following files if they can be used: FRST.txt Addition.txt Thanks to whoever could help with removing this annoying creature from my computer. Addition.txt FRST.txt

  20. Yesterday at about 3:30 p.m. EDT, I noticed a strange cmd looking box pop up and vanish almost instantly. I scanned with Norton, and received a couple of messages that Trojans had been blocked, but that my system was clean. However, in task manager "processes" tab there were about 20 instances of dllhost.exe COM surrogate running. After a little online research, I realized a number of other people are having this problem. I downloaded the paid version of Malwarebytes, and ran a scan. Malwarebytes quarantined several files, but constantly notifies me that there is a program trying to access a website (fff5eee.com), and that Malwarebytes is blocking it. I can end the dllhost.exe *32 processes manually, which helps the computer run, but they just come back and take up all the CPU. Another user posted with the exact same problem today, but I figured I needed to post again because I don't want to follow instructions for another machine. Thanks in advance for your help. Rob
  21. Recently started having problems with IE10 (Downloads blocked), Symantec notifying me of infection Poweliks, and multiple versions of dllhost.exe *32 COM Surrogate running. Seems more pronounced after opening IE10. I ran Malwarebytes several days ago, and it did find some problems and quarantined them. Problems are recurring, so I'm turning to you folks for help. Made another scan tonight with Symantec disabled. Results log posted below. Also ran FRST, results attached. Thanks in advance for your help! 22. Ok, so. My computer started slowing down and I checked and saw multiple instances of dllhost.exe bogging down my CPU usage, taking almost 100%. I ran all my anti-malware programs and removed multiple Trojans and Worms. I ran combofix (don't worry, I know what I'm doing) but it didn't seem to solve the issue. I ran FRST and have all the logs. I am attaching them below. Please help ASAP! FRST.txt Addition.txt
  23. PLease help. I have attached the Addition and FRST Files from the frst64 SCAN. Thanks, Justin Addition.txt FRST.txt
  24. Hi, I am having some very strange issues with my computer. I am not that computer savvy so I hope I didn't make matters worse. I have noticed that after windows updates, my computer would freeze and run slower but after a few days would work again. However its been freezing a lot lately and some of my programs either won't run or they wont respond but until a few days okay it was tolerable. At first I figured it needed cleaning so I defragmented it and used Malwarebytes and AVG which they found only a couple issues. I did a disk clean but it found nothing major only temp files and what was in the bin. I even tried Slimcleaner. After that though the computer went even slower so I uninstalled some programs that I wasn't using or were freezing and reinstalled the ones that I do use. Still my computer still reported me using up to 99% of memory but then I noticed it would go way down when not connected to the internet. I found this forum on and also looked at the task manager and noticed multiple dllhost.exe *32 com surrogate and followed the directions for Malwarebytes settings and it's still not reading anything wrong neither is AVG but now almost every second malware pops up stating Malicious Website Blocked. A few days ago I also started getting webpage error windows constantly popping up and now also a box stating that powershell has stopped working keeps popping up. Now it is running extremely slow even to open simple word documents. Thanks for any help Chantel FRST.txt Addition.txt
  25. Hi I got hit with this thing too. I tried several things and its just getting more and more annoying. I scanned with malwarebytes earlier and it said it found a backdor that it supposedly resolved and fixed, restared computer. I scanned again and this time it said it found nothing. I scanned with AVG and it identified the dllhost.exe *32 COM Surrogate as a virus and said it was fixed. I have restarted and done several suggested things mentioned online and nothings working. This started when I got my last update from Windows 2 days ago. Sometimes its not there at all and other times I will have 50+ proccesses running. I set most of them to low priority as they come up which seems to make it run less often. I have been sitting with task mamager open all day playing "wack -a-mole" and manually stopping the proccesses and this is just getting rediculus. I have a Windows 7 Home Premium / 64bit system. What do I do? Or am I already screwed
