Hello , I purchased a HP laptop 2 weeks ago. It came with Windows 10 Home & Student 2016. I have been facing these problems since the time I installed google chrome(from google.com) Random tabs keeps opening up after every while or so. I noticed mainly these: pipeschannels , one which redirects to ucbrowser, eatyellowmango which redirects to Flipkart.com and cpmofferconvert. Whenever I search in google chrome address bar, it automatically changes my default search engine to Yahoo.com. Every time I remove yahoo search engine from chrome settings but it gets back automatically. Same things I have been facing in Microsoft Edge also. What I have done so far I have uninstalled chrome and installed it again and also stoped syncing data from my google account. I have not signed in till now. I have checked my the extensions. At present I have only 1—Evernote web clipper. I have reset chrome’s settings. I have Scanned my system using Mcafee. I have scanned my system using Malwarebytes,Zemana, and one more such tool. Please guys help me. I have searched a lot on internet but nothing seems to be working. Thanks in advance. Regards.
I run Malwarebytes Pro and Emsisoft IS. Both are scanning my system as clean. But Malwarebytes keeps blocking an outgoing connection from Chrome to an IP that is associated with ransomware. Even if my system isn't infected and Malwarebytes is doing its job, I don't like it if there's a file in my computer that's trying to contact a dangerous site. So even though I don't think I'm infected, I'm posting here because I might be and I want to figure this out. Here's the latest Protection Event report: Malwarebytes www.malwarebytes.com -Log Details- Protection Event Date: 9/1/17 Protection Event Time: 12:00 PM Log File: Administrator: Yes -Software Information- Version: 126.96.36.1993 Components Version: 1.0.160 Update Package Version: 1.0.2704 License: Premium -System Information- OS: Windows 10 (Build 14393.1593) CPU: x64 File System: NTFS User: System -Blocked Website Details- Malicious Website: 1 , , Blocked, [-1], [-1],0.0.0 -Website Data- Domain: IP Address: 188.8.131.52 Port: Type: Outbound File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe (end) That IP address seems to be associated with ransomware, according to a quick search. And here's another one from yesterday: Malwarebytes www.malwarebytes.com -Log Details- Protection Event Date: 8/31/17 Protection Event Time: 9:29 AM Log File: Administrator: Yes -Software Information- Version: 184.108.40.2063 Components Version: 1.0.160 Update Package Version: 1.0.2696 License: Premium -System Information- OS: Windows 10 (Build 14393.1593) CPU: x64 File System: NTFS User: System -Blocked Website Details- Malicious Website: 1 , , Blocked, [-1], [-1],0.0.0 -Website Data- Domain: www.redomestication.com IP Address: 220.127.116.11 Port: Type: Outbound File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe (end) I was afraid to visit this site to see what it's about. Could these outgoing connections be as simple as having a certain website open in my tabs? I just closed several down 15-20 minutes ago, and stopped getting reports from Malwarebytes. But that may be just coincidence. I don't understand how malvertising or anything on a website could cause Chrome to make outbound connections it shouldn't be making.
I previously installed from the Chrome store Hotspot Shield VPN. It worked great for quite some time. Starting a few weeks ago, MWB keeps flagging the program as a PUP. I tried uninstalling it and installed a different VPN browser extension (Touch VPN) and got the same results. So, I put Hotspot Shield back on. Is this malware? Or, is Malwarebytes just being overly cautious? I have attached the latest log file. Also, I can't find the actual folder or file containing the extension....so, assuming it is safe, how can I put it on the exclusion list if I don't know where it is?? Thanks Scan Log Hotspot Shield Flagged.txt
