  1. Hello Yesterday I was browsing the internet on sites that I regularly use and trust, when suddenly Cryptolocker started on my computer. I had not clicked any ads or visited any shady site (or opened any shady emails) since turning on my computer from a full shutdown, so I do not know how the infection got on my computer. Regardless, I promptly tried to start MBAM, which would not launch, so I used the Chameleon. The Chameleon started, stuck for a long time at "Killing known malicious processes, please wait...", and finally launched MBAM, which then ran a quick scan which got two hits. To completely remove these threats, I had to restart my computer. I then tried again to launch MBAM, but I still could not launch it or any other program (attempting to do so causes the computer to ask what program you want to open the program in, very confusing). I once again launched the chameleon, which again hung for a long time at "killing known malicious processes". It eventually launched MBAM, and this time I ran a full scan. However, this full scan showed no results. How is it that MBAM is detecting (and killing) known malicious processes but cannot remove their source? Other forum posts say that MBAM should have no problem removing cryptolocker, and I want to make quite sure that the malicious program is removed before I take any action towards trying to restore my encrypted files. Thanks for any help
  2. First of all, I'm not too good with computer stuff and English isn't my national language. However, I'll do my best to be co-operating and to understand everything the helpful and respectful staff has to say. Thank you. My computer is considerably new. I've had it for about 1 year now. Not too sure. Anyways, when I leave it alone for a moment, it, of course, turns its screen off to save some energy. But when I open the screen, nothing happens. The only light that's there is the message that says something about a missing video input. I check that my computer is on and it is. I check if my keyboard is on, and press Caps Lock. No light indicating over the 'Caps Lock' -text at the top right of the keyboard. I then, as usual, manually restart my computer. This is not the only thing that's happened. My Internet connection is fast. Yet, my computer sometimes seems very slow, even though it's a good computer. I've cleaned it up many times, and it's gotten better. It still feels like something is wrong. I was a bit surprised when a few months ago I had this error message that said: btc-miner.exe has stopped working. -Strange, I thought. Never heard of anything like that. Made some research this week and realized it is a program used to create Bitcoins, which are experimental(Yet, somewhat accepted) "Cyber-Money". Apparently, these "Miners" create Bitcoins by solving complex calculations, or, in other words, exchanging the electricity that the computer uses up into Bitcoins. The funny thing is that I have never downloaded such program. In fact, I found some more information about Bitcoins. I read about trojans that control a computer to mine Bitcoins for the creator of the virus. That information led me to Botnet. Basically, I could lose control over my computer any time if this is about it. I'm not too sure, since Botnet is pretty new in the Internet, and no antivirus has been created for it(I think). I'm assuming that there is somebody who is mining Bitcoins with my computer and using up extra electricity + slowing down my computer(And possibly taking control of it, when I can't open the screen) I might be a little paranoid about this, but I'm highly concerned. It might be just a normal virus, or it might be a lot worse, so I'm hoping to get some help here as soon as possible. Thanks!

  5. It's a long story, but my mom really likes her Windows XP machine. After some issues with the HDD I'm reinstalling XP for her. It seems that "Windows Update" no longer works on the XP OS, so I'm having to go out and find SP1 and SP2 manually. So far I've found this site and this site. I want to make sure that the downloads from both of those sites are accurate and legitimate before I install them. The one from soft32.com is particularly sketchy to me. If someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. Or if anyone has links to trusted sites where I can d/l SP1 and SP2, I'd really appreciate it. Also, if anyone knows of any other things I'll need to reinstall, such as dotnet framework, I'd apprecaite the heads up. Thanks!
  6. I lost my audio after running a scan with malwarebytes. I was running a scan with the free version, but after a while I exited the scan without either pausing or aborting first, and had my computer shut down. The usual log file did not appear after I exited the scan. There were no audio the next time I turned on my laptop. I had ran the scan with an old version,v2013.05.22.02 I believe, which I had since updated after the lost of my audio. Anyway to fix this? Many thanks.
  7. Hello, recently i've noticed that as time goes by rundll32.exe starts to gradually taking up a lot of my memory, it even took up 800k of my memory at one point. Usually just restarting fixes the problem but it starts to gradually get larger again. I also noticed that their were 2 of rundll32.exe in my task manager, one stays low while the other takes a lot of my memory. I've scanned with malwarebytes and avast yet nothing comes up as a virus or malware. I've looked around and havn't found a solution, if anyone could help it'd be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hello. About 2 months ago, I purchased a Dell Inspiron laptop. - 2.50 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor - 6GB RAM - Windows 8 (64-bit) When I bought it, it was very fast and had no problems whatsoever. However, about 3 weeks ago, it began to slow down, and has since then only been getting slower. When I start up Chrome, it takes several seconds for what I type in the address bar to appear. Opening windows, right-clicking anything - not always, but the majority of the time is quite slow. I cannot think of anything that has happened to cause this - I have always been very cautious with what I download and it was more of a gradual thing than an immediate change. This happens even if I have nothing running in the background - I opened task manager, and nothing seems out of place. I disabled some startup programs I did not need or care for, ran Disk Cleanup, used CCleaner, used PC-decrapifier to delete unwanted programs, I used MalwareBytes (both a full & quick scan), Avira, and SuperAntiSpyware. None of the anti-virus programs even detected anything other than a couple minor threats, which were of course removed. It's not my internet either, it's like this no matter what I am doing. Now I'm pretty good with computers, but at this point I am at a loss of what to do. No one else uses this computer but me, it was not psychically damaged and has not ever had anything spilled on it. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? It's still so new and the specs are quite good, I was able to run graphic intensive games on it with no lag before, but now it's a hassle even when the settings are low! I just can't imagine what the problem could be.
  9. I've suspected that my computer has been infected with malware for a while, and I've attempted to remove it on my own, but there still seems to be some remains of it on my system. I've noticed much slower load times lately, and every time I opened my Google Chrome browser, it took me to a different search engine. I've removed the bit of malware causing the search engine problem (can't remember exactly what it was called though), but now I'm experiencing a new set of problems. No matter what website I am browsing (it's happened on reddit, GameFAQs, NFL.com, Amazon.com, etc), I keep getting pop-ups for common sites such as cbs.com, which was never happened before, so I assume it's malware causing it. Also, this is possibly a completely unrelated problem, but if I put my computer into sleep mode, it restarts the computer, says it was not shut down properly, loads to the Windows 7 log-in screen, and then repeats over and over until I either shut the computer down or log in. Not sure if that's virus related or a problem with my drivers. Anyway, here's my logs. 10. Hello. My son has reported to me that his computer is acting very slow. He said that the internet was running much slower than usual, and some of his applications would not connect to the internet, and would run slowly as well. I used the anti-malwarebytes anti-malware scan, and ran a full scan, and found nothing. I am hoping that someone could help me resolve this problem, so he can continue his use on the computer. I am also hoping that this won't cost anything too expensive, as it is a very expensive computer. Please report back if you can with further information and/or instructions on how I can remove the virus. Thank you!
  11. I just want to know what it is. I looked it up and there was nothing helpful.

  13. Hello MB, I have recently acquired the MoneyPak Virus. When it popped up i assumed virus and had to manually restart computer. From then on it would not allow me to sign into my account but it allows me to sign in either in temporary OR on my administrator. However, my account is where ALL my files and such are. I cannot seem to get to my data no matter what i do. It seems like the virus has locked me out of it. Also, i tried a system restore and no luck. AVG looks like its broken cause it will not scan and malwarebytes is currently scanning, it comes up with something new each time i scan. Ill post the log, i just have no clue really what i need to do and would love some assistance. Most Sincerely, David
  14. 15. So, recently I've noticed that my computer is using a ton of ram, like I disabled all start up programs and did a fresh restart and my computer uses 1.5G/2.5G of memory doing nothing, so I downloaded Malwarebytes and did a scan, found a bunch of stuff and I tried to clear it but the program freezes and crashes, I managed to get half of it gone but the problem is still here, i'm doing another scan to remove the other half, but does anybody know how they can help me? I'm a trainee computer technician so I'm easy to talk to about this, but I can't seem to figure out why my computer is using more ram than usual. (A couple of weeks ago, upon startup and all startup programs disabled, I was using only 300-400MB) This is causing a lot of games to crash due to an 'out of memory' error. So i'd love to get this cleared if anyone will please be so kind to assist me! Thanks!
  16. Hi there A few days ago my Synaptics touchpad started to malfunction and my computer was really laggy, for example when hovering over links or things in my toolbar it would not highlight the item for a while til it seemed the pc was ready... My main concern was that the touchpad was not doing what it was supposed to; when scrolling it would not release the scroll bar when I let go of the button, it was not selecting the things I clicked on etc.. After looking at advice online I found a lot of other people seemed to be having the same problem with Synaptics touchpads.. As recommended by others I changed the settings to left-handed which means I can at least browse the net and I can use Photoshop to a certain degree although it is difficult and I've learnt a hell of a lot of new shortcuts since! I think that it is the left button which has stopped working however the touchpad seems to behave strangely, most of the time (it won't let me tap to click even though I selected that option in my touchpad settings etc) Ok so anyway I have been struggling along with the ridiculousness that is my touchpad for about a week now.... Until today, I unplugged my charger and my laptop went dead... Checked the lead connection etc not that.... Now it just says 8% available & charging constantly, it obviously is NOT charging and even after being plugged in for hours still turns off every time I unplug it!?!? My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6-6b50sa which, after reading about it online, seems to have a heapload of issues and one of the most common ones seems to be overheating.. Do you guys think that might be what the problem is?? It just seems like my machine is falling apart piece by piece!!! :'( I'm sorry for the long rambling post! I really appreciate any help people can offer! I'm a poor & struggling artist & if I lose my laptop I will be devastated (really can't afford another one!!) :'( Terrified right now!
  17. So first off, I'm running windows 7 x64 bit. I came home from work, and opened my laptop to get started on some work for my online class. The computer began to boot as normal, but after the log in screen, my desktop flash for a fraction of a second and then my screen went completely white. CTR-ALT-DEL combo still works as normal but I couldn't access task manager or anything to find out what was wrong. After a little research I found this is a semi-common problem which is unique to each individual computer. I really need help resolving this ASAP, like I said, I heavily depend on my computer for school, and I have some software I can't really afford to lose by factory restoring it again.
  18. Every time I try to run Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit (mbar.exe), my computer instantly crashes and displays the infamous blue screen of death. It says something about mbam and chameleon, but I don't quite recall and, at this point, I'm tired of intentionally crashing my computer whilst troubleshooting. It might be important to note that running MBAR in Safe Mode does not result in a crash. Does anybody know the solution?
  19. Hello Everyone, I Am A New Memer To Malwarebytes.org And RougeKiller Program, I Have Just Downloaded RC And Scanned My Computer. I Am Trying To Figure Out What All The Feedback Means, And If I Need To Worrie About Anything... I Know It Termanatied The Program iLivid.exe, I Was Wondering If I Should Delete This Program From My Computer, And If So What Is The Best Steps To Take To Do So, And Im Also Wondering What All Programs Is Sugguested To Use (Including Default Programs That Are Already Installed On The Computer Like Defragging And Everything) To Clean My Computer From Top To Bottom, And Also How To Figure Out What Programs Can Be Removed That Is Not Useful Or Not In Use At All. I'm Also Wondering If There Is A Link That Someone Can Send Me For Basic Programs That Should Run On My Computers Startup List? I Have Deactivated A Few Programs That I Know Will Not Effect Anything (For Example Skype, iCloud, Apple Mobile, Ext.). 22. I have a virus, it's infected my system directory and, BIOS I am unable to boot in safemode because nothings shows up aswell as running anti-virus software it's gone, and I would use a Boot CD for a System Restore but I believe that the virus would corrup all the files before I'm able to boot it. My system specs are: Windows 8 Dual Core intel pentium Anti- Virus Software: Super anti-spyware Malwarebytes But alas none of these will run, I tried running Command Prompt to kill anything that is running but it Deleted/Corrupted those files aswell, I can't even run Windows Folders I tried using windows Metro but I get a memmory read error... Thanks for any advice and all help appreciated ~Sky
  23. Hello, I have recently ran Malwarebytes normally in Quick Scan and then waited a while and came across some kind of malicious software called Hijack.Homepage. So I've decided to remove it and then it told me to restart to remove it. So I did, and after my system restarted I wanted to make sure if it's gone so I scanned it again and then, the same software popped up. So I removed, restarted, scanned again and it's still there. So for a while I've did the same thing over and over again like a maniac and nothing really changed. I've also scanned with Norton 360 and then after the scan the Hijack.Homepage hasn't been detected. So I looked up some stuff about this Hijack.Homepage and found this: Home page or other settings change on your computer. Links are added that point to websites that you'd usually avoid. You can't navigate to certain web pages, such as antispyware and other security software sites. A seemingly endless barrage of ads pops up on your screen. New toolbars or Favorites are installed that give you icons and links to web pages that you don't want. Your computer runs sluggishly. Malicious software can slow down your computer. But none of these seems to be the problem in my browser. What could be wrong?
  24. Okay, so I have a weird virus in my flash drive, or possibly just an error, either way I need help. What it's done is make files and folders inaccessible, (It says "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable) and created new folders and files with strange names and that have a size even bigger than is able to be fit into the drive. Nothing is able to be deleted or copied/cut and pasted. No virus scan or anything can detect any virus. I can provide more information if requested. Here's a screenshot of the files, and I can take more screenshots if requested: http://postimg.org/image/dguo61jah/ Luckily this is on my flash drive and not my C drive but I'll be checking there too just in case. My main goal is to make these folders accessable again, the folders and files are shown as empty but the space is still taken up so it must be there somewhere. Everything on my other drives is okay, just not the flash drive. These folders are important, and some have business work, I need help asap.
  25. Hello everyone My teenage son decided to download Vuze onto my laptop last night and when i logged on this morning and went on the internet all my searches were being redirected though yahoo and its really annoying. I did some searching and saw a program called spiggot in a bunch of files. So i went into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files and found a spiggot folder and deleted it but it's still going through yahoo. Ive had this happen to my laptop before and i just did a complete system restore on the computer. I would like to somehow remove it though this time because i have important documents saved on here that i cannot move. Anyone have any suggestions?
