  4. During my MalwareBytes Scan, Adware.Elex.Shrtcln keeps showing up as a threat. Every time I quarantine and remove it upon restarting, it keeps returning in a following scan. So I would like some assistance in being able to remove it permanently. Thank you. Threat Summary.txt
  5. I hacked at it for several days and followed these instructions. That being to reset all browsers, set sync and delete the ->google\chrome\default\ files finally malware bytes ran and said that one file was not deleted. If I remember correctly I had seen this before and it had changed names. It was "Preference Saved" or similar but not just plain "Preference." I went to it and deleted it. So far after a full day no problems. It was not "preference" but another preference file. I was surprised that Malwarebytes could not delete it but I could go in and delete it. I think it
  6. Earlier today I saw that when I typed in the searchbar in chrome, google would briefly appear and then would switch to SearchSixty, its a pest of a search engine, I searched my programs, nothing unusual, reset chrome, still pops up, full scanned with avast and malwarebytes, no issues were found, uninstalled and reinstalled chrome, still it pops up every time I use the searchbar, but not if I go to the google homepage, is there something I'm missing to remove it?
  7. Earlier today I did a stupid, and got myself some weird malware that is hijacking my search bar. It calls itself "chromesearch.today" and has made itself my default search engine, and somehow managed to make it unselectable in the chrome settings menu (making it undeletable according to all the basic guides i could find) and also changed my options for all other search engines to only be "edit" or "remove from list", so i can't just make a different one my default. The way it works is that when I type something into my search bar it first opens up a url for about two seconds that looks l

I uninstalled every single one I didn't recognize but my Chrome is now behaving weirdly. It sometimes opens random tabs to shady websites when I click any link in trustworthy websites. My husband clicked on something he shouldn't have and when ever we open his Chrome it redirects the home page to rack-search.com I have uninstalled all extensions, made sure his home page and search engine are both google. What else can I do. thanks Laura
  13. Sometimes when I type something into my search bar, it will say: search with Yahoo and not google. MY default browser is google and always has been. In chrome settings, I have no malicious or suspicious extensions, but when I go to IObit uninstaller, it says I have an extension called hTab. "A great way to search the web, with Yahoo provided search on your new tab. If I force an uninstall through IOBit uninstaller, it successfully uninstalls, but the second I open up chrome it says that hTab has been installed through a program on my computer and I can either add it to chrome or remove it. 17. Since MalwareBytes quarantined/removed a load of iobit files, I decided to go ahead and uninstall all iobit programs. But because MalwareBytes has made those files vanish, none of it appears in my list of programs anymore. So I searched for iobit files and deleted all but one, which still won't delete because it keeps telling me it's in use. I planned to try removing that in safe mode next time I reboot. Except after the deletion, though I'm pretty sure I didn't actually have the iobit extension, Chrome stopped opening. It tells me that "safecheckcode64.dll" is missing. I tried reinstalling i
  18. Hi I'm struggling with the remains of malware that have infested my Google Chrome browser. After a solid dose of Malwarebyte and HitManPro Malware Removal, there's still an outstanding issue. Whenever I open a new tab or do a Google search, Malwarebytes blocks a redirect to technologietravassac.com. I tried a rescan in safe mode, but no further malware is detected, and there don't seem to be any suspicious programs in Ccleaners list of installed programs. Any ideas on how I get rid of this last bit of annoyance? Thnx, Slush
  19. I just installed MalwareBytes 3 (still in trial period), and I ran a full scan because I have been seeing a malicious pop-up "partner-net.men" in Chrome. This pop-up is blocked by realtime protection, but does not get detected or cleaned by running a full scan. In addition to a full scan with MalwareBytes 3 I tried the additional steps below: 1. Used adwcleaner_7.0.0.0 2. Used HitmanPro 3. Reset Chrome to default (disables all extensions) None of this seems to work.
  20. Hi Guys, I opened chrome a few mins ago to find that my chrome home page is now attempting to convince me that Wenjiao from China wants to be my girlfriend. I've just run a full scan with malwarebytes, but it didnt solve the issue. Has anyone encountered this one before? I have attached a screenshot of both the issue and the firebug report from inspecting the ad which includes an address to a script that doesn't seem legit : "chrome-extension://bmagokdooijbeehmkpknfglimnifench/googleChrome.js" Needless to say this does not show in my list of installed extensions. Any ideas
  21. When I install Malwarebytes premium it will eventually cause chrome to hang (apparently). Other programs continue to function but chrome becomes unresponsive. Has anybody else seen this behavior? The only cure I have found is to uninstall MBAM. Sophos is also running and is reporting no problems. Windows Defender is also happy with my config.
  22. This could be a hijacked browser, I'm not sure but in this picture there are some links that send into browsers like "wow.com" and other suspicious websites. While I was typing this I just realize when I clicked on those few links it kept showing me this These pictures are what's going on It's not natural to have links above images because I thought this was a new update or something but when I looked on my brothers computer it doesn't show links above images for him. So idk what's going on. So can you help me out to remove it and how it's happening?
  23. My PC is infected by a virus, i scanned with malwarebytes, adwcleaner, JRT and Sophos, but the publicity is in Chrome again and again. Please Help!
