  1. @ orubio and exile , Running the cleanup tool and a reinstall fixed the problem . Something had to have flipped out during an update or something . I hadn't looked at the settings tab since I originally installed and setup v1.51 . I'm the only user so there was no inadvertent pw set . I set one on the repair install of v1.61 tonight to avoid any future suprises. Again Thanks jT
  2. @ fivealive , Thanks for your reply . The reason I was vague on whether or not I put a password in MBAM was that it was installed in early October of 2011. The installed version was 1.51 . As orubio pointed out the pw protection was not implimented until version 1.60 . I through all the updates to version 1.61 was never informed that MBAM was going be pw protected . So basically I had no idea of a needed pw . @ orubio , Thanks for the pw info . There is only the admin acccount being used on my computer . I am the only user . If MBAM was supposed to automatically use the windows pw then it did not . If it was not set up to use the windows pw automatically . Then it sure as heck would been nice to have been informed that I needed to set a pw during the update process . jT
  3. orubio , Thanks for your reply . I will use cleanip tool tomorrow night and let you know how it goes . Two questions . Is it normal for MBAM to ask for a password ? I am sure I was not asked for a password when I installed MBAM . Is the password it is asking for the same as my windows logon password ? Again Thanks jT
  4. I wanted to add a program to the ignore list ( SpyWare Blaster ) . MBAM is asking for a password to access settings and the ignore list . I do not remember having a password or being asked for one before the latest program update ( 1.61.0.1400 ) . jT
  5. exile , I did not think there would be a start timer setting in the registry . But it didn't hurt to ask . Problems solved . Super service bro J
  6. exile , Thanks for the quick reply ! Unchecking the MBAM.gui run as admin box in properties / compatability tab stopped the UAC prompts , woot !! What is strange though , it had to install that way . It had the UAC prompt as soon as I installed MBAM , on reboot after the install it had the UAC prompt and when I right clicked the tray icon to select update it UAC'd me again . Thats when I created the 2 tasks to run the app with admin priveleges . Which did nothing for the startup UAC issue . Before running the clean up tool the last time and reinstalling MBAM . I deleted the 2 tasks that I had created with task scheduler . I had also forgotten to check the compatability tab for the admin priv box being checked until you mentioned unchecking it for mmbamgui . Anyway the UAC issue is repaired , which is what I needed to have happen . Changing the service from autostart delayed to autostart helped the load time quite a lot . It still takes about 90 seconds . Which is a lot better than 5 to 10 minutes . Is there a registry setting that I can edit to speed it up a bit more ? This particular pc is sort of a screamer it takes about 20 seconds to boot to the desktop after being turned off . So it's sort of a drag to have to wait the 90ish seconds for MBAM to load . Thanks again...........Jeff
  7. Hello , I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 . This is a clean install of windows . My problem is , when windows starts I get a User Account Control prompt for MBAM . After I click OK it takes 5 to 10 minutes for MBAM to load . If after clicking OK to the UAC prompt if I immediately log off and back on I get another UAC prompt but this time when I click OK MBAM loads as soon as I release the mouse button . I have used the the removal tool and reinstalled MBAM twice . No change . I have used windows task scheduler to give both MBAM.exe and MBAM.gui full admin rights . No Change . What do I have to do to get MBAM to autostart with no UAC prompts . Thanks in advance , Jeff
