  1. I'll look into that. It will take some time though. If you'd lke, is there a way I can let you know how things go in case this thread gets closed due to inactivity while pusure the repair option. It has also occurred to me that maybe I could reinstall the laptop OS. (of course this wouldn't address dust). Never done a reinstall but I probably could pull it off. Hey, thanks for all your help!
  2. No I had not. Good point though. The fan air is warm. I installed HWMonitor PRO. Could you advise on what to do with this? Is there logging etc. to run?
  3. The fan is continuously running. I attached the Perf Meters screen clip. This was taken immediately after logging in. The only thing I touched was starting task manager before making the clip. I included the process list to show what is consuming the majority of the memory. Malwarebytes and Explorer. I can't say for sure how abnormal the memory consumption of these processes is but the fan running this way is abnormal for this machine.
  4. I re-downloaded FRST before running this time. 2 files attached. Addition.txt FRST.txt
  5. In attrition to the two FRST files requested, I attached two more files. 1) a capture of a question it asked me prior to running. Is it necessary to update FRST since it is saying it is 8 days old? I did not do this before running the tool. 2) just fyi, the options screen with the options I used. Addition.txt FRST.txt
  6. Done successfully. I first attempted to do this as a non-admin user and got the attached error capture file. Then did it as admin and got the attached capture file. Unfortunately no change at this point.
  7. It's about the same. The fan is still running continuously and the 2 processes exist (without usernames or descriptions) & performance meters are high considering I didn't start any applications. I've attached two screen shots. Maybe that's helpful?
  8. Uploaded Fixlog.txt Yes, it did reboot. The fan stopped running as soon as I clicked "Fix", but after the reboot it came back on again, and the CPU / memory are high. Fixlog.txt
  9. I had some trouble running Maywarebytes. Somewhere before about 10 minutes is would go into "(Not responding)" mode. However, after several tries it completed to the end, and the scan log is attached. Farbar files attached also. MbytesScanLog060115.txt FRST.txt Addition.txt
  10. It seems to be about the same: the 2 processes continue to be ranked at the top of the Processes list, the Performance meters (cpu/memory) are hovering in the same range that they had been. I didn't mention it in my original post but the cooling fan was continually running when I noticed the problem, and it still is.
  11. Could you let me know where the CCSupport folder is located. I found the FRST folder but it does not contain a CCSupport sub-folder within.
  12. It looks like I attached Fixlog.txt correcty this time. Sorry about that. 1. Regarding the other two files: the only FRST file I have is the one I uploaded previously. Should I re-upload it, or do another scan to create a new one? 2.The other file, ESET, is unfamilary to me. How do I go about generating that? Fixlog.txt
