Hello, My name's Chris and I'm quite certain I have a redirect virus and possibly something else. I looked through the logs on this website and found similar topics, but I'd prefer to start from scratch since I'm not computer savvy. I may need help with explanations. I've never had any issues before on this computer before recently. First, what brought me here for help today was when I noticed every time I would use any type of search (Google, Yahoo!, Bing, etc) I would be redirected. This doesn't happen every time, but most of the time for sure. Sometimes it would be only once, but on other occasions it would be three or four times before I can finally go to the site I originally intended to visit. The websites that I am redirected to are always different. A few times I have been redirected to the yellow pages website and more often it would be to a page that has links to other sites with similar topics to my search on Google, etc. I'm not sure what those websites are called. The other issue is significant slowdown. My Norton doesn't show anything and I scanned with anti-malware and removed some problems but these the issues still remain. The slowdown has now suddenly become so severe that it may take up to 40 minutes for Weatherbug, MSN and Yahoo! Widgets to start up on the computer. This is rare, but it often takes at least 15 minutes. If I don't allow these to pop up first, I will not even be able to go online without waiting several minutes for each page to load completely. Since this has happened, I noticed I also can't play games like the Sims 2. The game crashes after a few minutes. This also happens on websites that are heavy with Adobe flash. I'd like to know what I can do to fix these issues and possibly know where I may have picked them up or what caused them. Thank you in advance.
