  1. No sure of your definition of surreptitiously, but our app is opt-in, and 3/4 of the installs initiate from our site. If users have issues with it interfering with the OS Shell, Explorer or IE, we have not heard about that. However, even if you classify us as a PUP, the user should still have the option of choosing to install us. Currently, you are not giving us that option. Even though your warning says "Non-Malware Detected", when I go to your quarantine tab, click "Restore" then try to install again, we just get blocked again. There appears to be no way to bypass your quarantine. Shouldn't a user be able to install us if they chose? Thank you, Marc Fogel
  2. Dear Sir/Madam, I am hoping you can help me. In Windows 7, IE 11, you are blocking the ShopAtHome.com browser app extension. ShopAtHome.com is a free membership online shopping portal that offers coupons, discounts, and cash-back incentives to more than 14 million unique site visitors each month. We are associated with more than 15,000 merchants. In order for our customers to take advantage of printing grocery and store coupons, Daily Deal Alerts, and other great features, we offer an opt-in browser app to our registered members. This browser app does not retain any personal data from the user. It will, however, display alerts and deals based on the user’s session browsing, yet no information is retained. While the ShopAtHome.com browser app places a cookie on the users machine, deleting this cookie has no negative impact on the users experience, other than requiring them to log on to the ShopAtHome.com site each time they visit. We currently work with over 20 security software companies to ensure the safety of our browser app. Additionally, our browser app can only be downloaded from our site, ensuring that we control its distribution and safety. Normally a user would visit ShopAtHome.com and create an account after accepting the Terms and Conditions (http://www.shopathome.com/terms-and-conditions.aspx) and the Privacy Policy (http://www.shopathome.com/privacy-policy.aspx). Upon visiting ShopAtHome.com/sahpages/freetoolbar.aspx, they are asked to accept the EULA (http://www.shopathome.com/end-user-license-agreement.aspx) before being allowed to download the installer. Attached you will find the toolbar installation file (ShopAtHome_App_7.0.4.22_C68828681_D1_R0.exe.zip) and your scan log. Please let me know what information you will need from ShopAtHome.com to allow your customers to feel safe about installing (and uninstalling) the ShopAtHome.com browser app. I look forward to hearing back from you. My contact information is below. Best Regards, Marc Fogel av-testing@shopathome.com ShopAtHome_App_7.0.4.22_C68828681_D1_R0.exe.zip ScanLog_9_03_2014.txt
  3. MalwareBytes Team, My name is Trevor McMullin, a Technical Associate with ShopAtHome.com, a shopping website dedicated to providing coupons and cash-back to customers who shop with us. Part of the ShopAtHome.com service is the Intelligent Shopping Toolbar, a plug-in for web browsers which our customers choose to install. The Intelligent Shopping Toolbar provides users with notifications about sales and bonus rewards for the retailers they shop online, as they shop them. ShopAtHome.com is nearing completion of our latest toolbar, version 6.1.0.0, and we would like you to evaluate our software against your antivirus heuristics in advance. This will help us reduce the complications of a false-positive before we release this toolbar publically. The preview version of our toolbar is available online at http://www.shopathome.com/shopathometoolbarpreview.aspx and comes in several formats, depending on the browser the customer uses. Additionally, I am curious to know if MalwareBytes operates a whitelisting program or has in place methods to prevent the ShopAtHome.com toolbar software or our website URL/domain from being blocked by your product in the future. Some Antivirus companies refer to this as a ‘Trusted Partner’ program and these programs can help us by keeping this powerful tool in the hands of as many customers as possible. Please let me know if any proactive methods exist for ShopAtHome.com to become trusted software in the eyes of MalwareBytes. I have searched the knowledge base and was unable to dig up any details on opportunities for software developers like ShopAtHome.com. Thank you for your time and feel free to call or write if you have any questions about our software. Regards, -Trevor McMullin Technical Associate www.ShopAtHome.com
