  1. Thanks for your help and answers Aura. This is very good news and I can't wait to give version 3 a try.
  2. 1. Hello. I have a never entered/used lifetime license. Is it best to first enter the key in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.2.1.1043 free which I have installed or should I download or update to Malwarebytes 3 first before entering the ID and key? 2. Will it still be a lifetime license? 3. Is MBAM 3 premium compatible with Avira free?
  3. I also have an unused lifetime license. Is it best to first enter the key in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.2.1.1043 free or should I download or update to Malwarebytes 3 first? Also, is it compatible with Avira free?
  4. Thanks Mieke. Is the file dangerous? The main download was a relatively popular singleplayer mod for battlefield 2. There was the mod download and a seperate maps download. I understand that the mod will mod BF2 but does the file do anything outside of playing the game?
  5. *** This could be a dangerous file *** This file is from a downloaded mod for battlefield 2. It very well may be a trojan but I would like to know for sure. Before running the download I scanned it manually with Emsisoft AM paid, MalwareBytes free and Hitman pro free and they didn't detect anything. After installing I scanned the install directory manually and only MBAM free detected stats.exe as a trojan. Virustotal results. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/811fa4ce22e898abbf21620e8b5a3ed997b07f8ee23eba5891fe8fe35f2ec833/analysis/1413887566/ Detection.txt is the mbam log file. Detection.txt Stats.7z is the suspect file. Password: infected Stats.7z P.S. I do have a license for MBAM paid. It was purchased to support the good work that you all do.
  6. Sorry for my very late reply. Thank you both very much for you replies and explanations. They did finally run a full Avast scan and it found nothing. It sounds like Avast and Windows Defender did their job (this time). It also sounds like MBAM did it's job too. Plus, I was able to learn a little bit more about malware and Windows thanks to you. Cheers, balloonshark
  7. Update: I had them run a thorough Avast scan but it is taking too long. I won't here from them until tomorrow as they went to bed while scanning.
  8. Thanks for your reply GT500. I'll have them run a full scan with Avast tomorrow. In the meantime can anyone provide any insight about the 2 detected registry keys? I'm at a loss when it comes to Windows registry. If I get a chance, I may also have them run Prevx CSI and Dr. Web Cureit unless you recommend something else. PS: It will be several hours before I can respond but I will be back in the evening EST.
  9. Hi. I ran a full scan with MBAM on a relatives computer and these 2 entries were found. Registry Keys Infected: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{3aa42713-5c1e-48e2-b432-d8bf420dd31d} (Rogue.Antivirus2008) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{1d4db7d2-6ec9-47a3-bd87-1e41684e07bb} (Adware.MyWebSearch) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully. I also ran a full scan with SAS with default scan settings and nothing was found. Is there anything in the two entries that I need to worry about or follow up? The machine runs Avast free and Windows Defender to keep things simple on Windows XP home SP2 and should be fully updated. Thanks
