  1. Is the filename randomly generated then? Because that entry at BC has a different file name...
  2. 49 seconds seems a bit fast for a full scan Maybe try running MBAM with the /developer parameter and pasting the log so the developers can take a look
  3. I am almost afraid to reboot my computer... Noticed this file in the "Startup" section of CCleaner... It's set to RunOnce and I've never heard of or seen it before. c:\windows\is-icdra.exe /REG is the startup value with the name being InnoSetupRegFile.0000000001. No information is easily found through google; I uploaded it to Jotti and it came back as clean. Any clues? swagger
  4. 1 license per physical machine if I remember correctly. You can still use the free, on demand version on your laptop or buy a 2nd license
  5. This is a very real threat. Not sure if MBAM can do much but design some heuristics to try and detect the new variant. No one knows what the new variant will look like or do YET. In the meantime, get your system patched and updated through Windows Update.
  6. We've done this dance before exile, I am in training at MRU just like you
  7. Honestly, I would have no problems with that. Sometimes, I just feel like I can't suck this information up fast enough. Like I am so much behind the curve. I am really starting to have a strong interest in computer security though. I always thought I was more of a hardware guy... But computer security has really caught my eye.
  8. thanks for the info I will definitely do some reading
  9. I need to do my research on what heuristics are... I have an idea but don't know for sure.
  10. Extremely nice... Just making sure. That's crazy fast! I just hope the detection is just as good
  11. Was there a big change in 1.35 or the latest round of definitions... My desktop and laptop take less than 2 minutes to do a quick scan. It used to take probably between 4-6 mins... Just wondering.
  12. Recent Changes * (FIXED) Minor bug during product registration. * (FIXED) Moved purchase link to be less invasive. * (FIXED) Major bug quarantining registry values. * (ADDED) New heuristics for rogue spyware removers. * (ADDED) New banner image. * (ADDED) Protection module icon turns gray when protection disabled.
  13. If you have a problem, start a seperate thread vnvnvn2000. Please don't hijack others' threads... swagger
  14. Would someone mind point me to or explaining exactly what fingerprints are? I know from the searching I've done already, that they are file signatures for specific threats that are known... Is there anything more to this that? Thanks in advance! swagger
  15. SAP3691, I am afraid my first thoughts were correct. Your hard drive is failing. It failed one of the hard drive tests. You may still be able to get important data off of the HDD by using a Ubuntu Live CD or slaving this HDD from another computer. If you don't have anything that's that important or you have backups, I would just buy a new HDD and install Windows. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news swagger
  16. What do you mean run from C:\? What are you trying to run? The Dell diagnostic utility is usually somewhere in the Boot menu (F12) on most Dell machines. The UBCD for Windows or Ubuntu Live CDs are image files that you would burn to a recordable media like a CD-R that runs from the CD-rom drive. swagger
  17. I ran into this about 2 weeks ago at work... It ended up being a defective HDD. If you cannot repair the O/S, I would try doing a diagnostic on the HDD with either Dell's diagnostic tools that are usually included or one from the UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD). Also, if you need to grab files off before a complete format, you can use a UBCD for Windows CD or Ubuntu Live CD to grab those files off the HDD. Hope this helps, swagger
  18. Just tested it... Either way you go... If you ignore everything and hit the Remove button, it will prompt you with "There are no items left to remove" or if you hit the Main Menu button at any point, it will prompt you with "Are you sure you want to abort the scan?" Pick your poison I guess! swagger
  19. Next time an infection pops up, I'll be mindful of what I do to get back out and I'll post back here... Sorry about that! swagger
  20. Never. Oh well... I'll just keep myself sharp for when they do want my opinion
  21. Firefox was definitely my favorite for awhile but I just kept getting tired of not being able to leave my browser open for more than 6 hours without the used virtual memory shooting up to 900MB or more. I agree. I wish we would slide over to a more secure browser like Firefox or Opera. But it's not my call. I am just an entry level helpdesk technician to them B)
  22. It's been said already in another thread. Vista does not have the same registry entries as XP therefore it won't show up in MBAM. swagger
  23. Thanks to the both of you for all the resources. Makes me look like I didn't search at all but I did! I was just being too specific, searching for help on the "echo" command. Thanks again! swagger
