Intermittent and unpredictable and therefore not consistently reproducible. The screen does like a weird like digital artifacts, then goes to BSOD... Even after several open/close chrome, NO BSOD. Then just closing it randomly triggers it...Go figa ? Btw, with MWB Web Protection OFF, I've been running Chrome now for several days, opening/closing. NO BSOD, whereas before I would have encountered several. Tnx, ~mak

  3. dcollins- OK. Some discrepancy in the file size of MEMORY.ZIP on my computer (211 MB) compared to the file uploaded (206 MB) to wetransfer.com.(?) Let me know if you have any problems reading the file. The BSOD date in question is 09-13-2018 Here's the wetransfer.com link for download. https://we.tl/t-OdV7dKEdfb Please confirm receipt and that the file is functional for your review. Tnx, ~mak
  4. dcollins- c:/windows/memory.dmp (933 MB) is still present with correct archive date of 09-13-2018 of the BSOD. Here's the rub: 1. Figured out how to zip the file. Zipped file is 211 MB (about 23%) 2. Not clear on how to use wetransfer.com. Only see an email option? It prompts me for an email address to send to. Do I need an email address for you? 3. So...How do I get it to you? Tnx ~mak
  5. Hey EX- Haven't tried opera or vivaldi browsers, got too much going on to chase this at the moment. But Firefox running contemporaneously does not seem to trigger the BSOD.... Thanks, ~mak Hi dcollins- Tried to zip file mini091318-01.dmp for some reason 7-zip gives me an error message. "Access denied. 7-zip cannot open file." Probably permissions. Don't have time to mess with it. Made a copy to work around the issue which is attached. The file is only 270 KB so I've attached as native .dmp files which are supported below. This file is the most recent .dmp that was the consequence of the BSOD referenced above with the most recent version of 3.51.2522 from server (09-12-2018) installed Have no idea why I would be prompted to use wettransfer.com ??? Please advise if this is sufficient for your needs...and the results of your research etc. Thanks. ~mak Mini091318-01 - Copy.dmp
  6. Ex- Seems to be connected with Chrome 64 Browser when closing the browser... Version 49.0.2623.75 m (64-bit) Unable to upgrade to later version of Chrome because Vista no longer supported by Google/Chrome. 7. Update: Btw, with most recent version of 3.51.2522 from server (09-12-2018) installed still getting BSOD when MWB Web Protection toggled to ON. The whole time I ran the earlier version, with Web Pro. turned OFF for several weeks, never got a BSOD. Guess MWB will not support this feature with Vista... I've turned Web Protection OFF. Not happy about it...
  8. Well now. The clean uninstall apparently solved the problem. 1. Cleaned w/ MWB Support tool. Reinstalled most recent version of 3.51.2522 from server (09-12-2018) 2, Right-click on downloaded .exe file...and voila. Context Menu MWB present. Tanx for all the help, EX. Best to Bro John ~mak
  9. Sorry 'bout that John name thing, uh... EX OK. Did the whole bit. Ran tweaking.com and rebooted as prompted. 1. Reinstalled MWB and rebooted OS. 2. Toggled Context Menu ON/OFF/ON.. Still no MWB Context menu. Attached is a screenshot from my phone showing options with right-click on MWB 3.51.2522,,,EXE which should bring up MWB scan file option. As you can see no context menu for MWB. In Shellview no MWB listed either enabled or disabled with all extension types selected... Whatta think? Tnx Ex. ~mak
  10. John- Thanks for the prompt response. I am now tracking thread on Malwarebytes 3 forum. OK. installed Legacy version of MWB for Vista as directed/linked above (3.5.1.2522) . Should I have uninstalled earlier version first? Btw, I left Real time Web Protection toggled OFF until we solve this problem as I have had many BSOD with earlier MWB version Web Protection ON. Status: 1. You are correct that I disabled some context menu items as I was experiencing a very slow and flukey file explorer right-click. Turns out way too many items on menu. Shellview solved the problem by disabling many items . I opened Shellview and MWB is not listed in any file types filter including context menu...neither enabled or disabled...not even a reference to it. So it would appear that it might have something to do with the registry entry (?). Could this be caused by a virus?? It may well be a virus, as the right-click context menu in explorer was working a week ago when I last checked a download for a scan. Had not changed anything using Shellview since. 2. Toggled MWB Settings>Context Menu .ON/OFF/ON and rebooted the WIN Vista. Still no context menu entry for MWB. Open for suggestions Thank again John. ~mak
  11. BTW, Rebooted, reloaded MWB still can NOT scan a file with MWB with right-click.
  12. MB Premium 3.44 updated to 3.51.2522 Web Protection OFF (can run Real time web protection with incurring BSOD) Win Vista 64 SP2 - AMD Phenom II x4 920 MBO 8GB - ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series (MSI) Samsung SDD 1TB When I right-click on a downloaded file to scan with MWB the option to scan no longer appears. Under Settings>Applications I have Windows Context Menus toggled to ON. Rebooted, reloaded MWB still can scan a file with right-click. Any suggestions? Thanks, mick
  13. Thanks Exile360. Since turning Web Protection OFF for the last 2 days of repeated opening/closing Chrome/Firefox - MB - NO BSOD. Not one.
  14. OK. I can with about 90% certainty report that running MB with Web Protection OFF seems to alleviate the frequency of BSOD. I'll have a higher sample rate in a week or so. Especially after opening/closing Chrome browser (v 49). One interesting revelation: I was loading a program called SpeedFan which monitors the temperature using digital sensor on MoBo, including CPU core, GPU HDs and allows for controlling the cooling fan speed/duration with config script on Start-up. There are a number of command line switches that apparently can be used to suppress monitoring...probably because of the IRQ conflicts with some MoBo's. On a hunch, Googling SpeedFan BSOD turns out there known problems with some MoBos incl. mine AMD. Not compatible with South Bridge...sometimes caused BSOD. I no longer run SpeedFan to continuously monitor temps. I now invoke, check the temps etc. then close immediately. Or use Speccy to check tempts. This program, SpeedFan.sys (3.52 most recent) may have been contributory...or not. Dunno...but I'll keep it from running continuously. At least I can use the computer now. As of several hours...no BSODs (win2k.sys listing offending file) after opening/closing Chrome on Win Vista... Hope this helps someone. mick
  15. An update: After reinstalling MB 3.1 I ran for just a few hours with Web Protection toggled ON when Chrome crashed. Here's the Who Crashed Dump Analysis: Crash dump directories: C:\Windows C:\Windows\Minidump On Thu 8/16/2018 9:38:49 PM your computer crashed or a problem was reported crash dump file: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP This was probably caused by the following module: ntkrnlmp.exe (nt!wctomb+0x189C4) Bugcheck code: 0x50 (0xFFFFF900C2F34270, 0x0, 0xFFFFF96000270BD6, 0x0) Error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA Bug check description: This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced. This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time. After BSOD I rebooted and ran MB with Web Protection OFF. After about 16 hrs. NO BSOD. Seems to be connected to Chrome/Web Protection. I'll continue to run with Web Protection OFF. Too bad. Looks like any version of MB running on Vista before the most recent version(not compatible with Win Vista) is subject to BSOD as long as Web Protection is ON..
  16. Update 08-16-2018 @ 5p PDST: Decided to reinstall a much earlier version of MB 3.1.2.1733 (PKG vers 1.0.0 UG PKG vers 1.0.0) which I had downloaded in 08-23-2017. Resurrected the activation code and Premium is up and running. At least I have some protection now. Real time Web Protection ON I'm current running without MS Verifier. I'll report back if I get BSOD related to MB...or not
  17. Thanks John. After disabling MS Verifier: 1. Downloaded 3.5.1.2522....6369.exe as per link above 2. Rebooted 3. While attempting to install above received error message. "This OS not supported". I am running Vista Home Prem. 64 SP2. 4. Open to suggestions. Starting to look like MB will no longer support Vista. Perhaps I should just a reinstall of 3.44.or 3.45 and rerun MS Verifier. Where can I find earlier versions that were Vista compatible on the MB website? Btw, I'm running a 3 x boot system on separate HDs with Vista 64, Win 7 Pro 64 and Win 10 64 Pro with MB 3.44. No such BSOD problems (yet In the meantime with MB not running Vista OS using Chrome and/or Firefox rock solid. The problem seems to originate only when running one or both of those browsers while MB us running (with real time protection)... Because neither Chrome nor Firefox support Vista, I guess I'm stuck with Chrome Version 49.0.2623.75 m (64-bit) and Firefox 49.0. I am using Vista because I have a legacy video editing program and proprietary GPU card from Matrox and about 50 other programs that are installed for filmmaking etc. Guess I just have to finally byte the bullet and do a total migration to Win 7, where I have already installed the Matrox drivers and Premiere Pro, PS etc.as I'm assuming the above MB UG is compatible with Win 7, along with Chrome/Firefox latest versions(??)... Personally not entirely sold on Win 10 yet Suggestions anyone? Thanks, mick
  18. Btw, as per FAQs started non-MS Driver verification. Approx. how long does the process take? Thanks, mick
  19. MB Premium 3.44 updated to 3.51 8-15-18 Win Vista 64 SP2 - AMD Phenom II x4 920 MBO 8GB - ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series (MSI) Samsung SDD 1TB All of a sudden multiple BSOD with v3.44 several times an hour calling out mwac.sys even after updating to v3.51. Finally out of desperation, I completely uninstalled MB which seem to solve the problem. No BSOD for 14 hrs. But I am now not running any virus/malware protection. Have not reinstalled. Please advise on course of action to get MB up and running again WITHOUT BSOD would be nice....:) Thanks, mick
  20. @dcollins Good news...and bad. 1. Successfully uninstalled 3.2 and re-installed 3.1. Malwarebytes now loads and opens. 2. I am able to request malware updates. Bad news. 1. I am unable to download current malware defs and apply/install. 2. The program just indicates that the mw defs are still out date, even after several attempts. 3. MWB icon in the tray still show (!) that defs are out of date, along with the program screen... Any ideas what's going on? UPDATE: Just before sending this, I checked the prog. screen...shows MW defs. "current" but icon in the tray still show defs out of date... Apparently there was a latency period...obviously patience is not one of my virtues Also, apparently that is relevant to the fact that the system has not been scanned since the recent install (?) I will refuse updates to the MWB prog. indefinitely... Thanks, for your help @dcollins ~koz
  21. @dcollins Thanks. Will do and post results. What is your opinion of the advice from @Porthos above to download FRST? Thanks.
  22. @Porthos Thanks, but I am reluctant to download any so-called diagnostic file that is not authored by Malwarebytes. Should not be necessary to run a third-party program not offered by Malwarebytes directly to fix their problem. I've attached the results of mb-check and mb-clean and Crash report as per support. I would think that would be sufficient... ~mak
