    problem

    i tried dealing with lenovo support  initially

    i used command prompt admin to find serial number of machine. it was all numbers

    But lenovo said Serial number is Numbers and letters.

     the Number isn't on the bottom!?

     and i don't have the boxes they came in.  its probably on the receipts from 2013 which i don't have time to look for . maybe some day?

    we  have had so many update fails, I switch it to the middle of the night.

     you had to do a custom  code clean out to get the "fails" out. is that the only way?

    in searching for" windows update failing at 30% per cent" i see people saying they're still having lots of Update fails in windows 10

    Windows updates say 30% for the last 5 hours.  I just got up from what i was doing and clicked the screen. I don't know if they stop when the screen saver stops . Computer my be going into sleep mode?

    computer said there were 4 additional today  after the  Window update service stack , and it seemed to be stuck on the first one, i enabled updates again and restarted.

    i must have a setting wrong for updating?

    "ESET Security   appears to be disabled." Yes, i disabled it because i was having issues using the tools fixes

    i uninstalled the Garmin, and disabled cccleaner at startup

    I had  Windows update off also on last fix, and system restore, i'm updating it now

    When the computer slowed way down  in the last few days i turned it off as it seemed to be Hanging,  but it's on now

    I'm working and i may not be able to proceed with this custom fix this afternoon , maybe tomorrow morning

    chkdsk hung on computer.

     always spun at 10% on lenovo screen

    previous to that, the screen was becoming very difficult to type on , therefore couldn't do safe mode command line tasks

    programs, internet,  were taking about 5 minutes to open

     computer would no longer start just hang at 10%

     i picked alternate troubleshooting after pressing power button

    used system restore back to March.

    then ran chkdsk again and it finished

    then ran Farbar again

    chrome and firefox both present as programs but won't open

     

     files below, bad blocks still noted

    yes, i did the pictures you sent above.

    chkdsk didn't run for some reason and wasn't in the list

    i ran command prompt as administrator.

     chkdsk /r

     

    actually i am running it again

    no screen yesterday

    the Lenovo screen has said "checking and repairing drive C 10% complete for about 2 hours"
