  1. Just a suggestion - have you checked that one of your memory sticks aren't faulty ? A problem may only manifest itself when that part of memory gets used so 'simple' things work but more 'complex' things fail.
  2. The balloon telling me the trial had ended appeared approx 1.5 hours after the event. Several updates later, hibernation and back and the trial remained over. Did a restart a few minutes ago, as it started the balloon came up saying trial was over, clicked on tray icon and Protection tab and am back with the Trial running ! Updated to 6797 and still running
  3. Have just stopped my Trial by turning off wireless and plugging in a cable at home It didn't happen immediately I had to do an update (to 6794) but as soon as the update completed I looked on the Protection tab and the Trial had ended. I then unplugged the cable and turned the wireless on but despite doing another update (to 6795) the Trial is still ended
  4. Am back home now on the wireless card and the Trial has resumed and have just done a Flash Scan Go figure !
  5. I meant to add that I did have some old items in Quarantine and wondered if that might have triggered the fault before I uninstalled. Unfortunately the trial on the laptop has now ended I am in a different location with another router and using a wired connection if that helps ! I did check it was still active upon switching on but didn't spot the balloon on the tray icon telling me it had come to an end, just when I opened the program. Update still works, just went from 6777 to 6785 upon manual update.
  6. I have upgraded on a Vista desktop and started the Trial and it is still running after 7 hours plus. After seeing slashdot87's topic I have uninstalled and run the cleaner and reinstalled on the laptop and the trial is still running 3 hours plus. I even changed the scheduler to run an update, it went from 6775 to 6777. I'll report back if either trial ends before the 14 days is up. Thanks
  7. It is an Inspiron 6000, but the latest driver from your link is 11.1.0.0 I am running 12.4.4.0 from http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/ Upgrading to this is what got me connecting at home. It sees other networks but won't let me connect to them which is better than the earlier problem of not actually seeing my home network ! I need a new laptop, the battery is dead too but I'd rather put the money towards a newer model than a battery for an older one that can still be run from the mains. Perhaps I'll go and give the trial a go on a desktop and see if that works.
  8. Uninstalled PeerBlock as I hadn't used it for a year. Disabled Avira and Windows firewall. Dodgy Dell wireless card will connect to my home network but won't to others that it has in the past even if I start afresh, for many months it wouldn't connect to mine either. Step 3 went fine. Step 4 took 5.5 hours. I know I have a few corrupt files that I cannot delete, they are files I created rather than unknown files, and have run CHKDSK in the past to try and fix them. They are still there after this latest scan. Defragging the disk also takes a long time, there seem to be a couple of areas of the disk that take forever to access/check. About 2 years ago I reformatted and re-installed Windows to get rid of the problem which it did but lasted less than 6 weeks. I live with it, Hibernating is slow but much faster than shutting down and doing a cold boot, hence the long system uptime. Upon restart after the CHKDSK, MBAM balloon reported Trial period was up. Stopped Avira as it started enabled and then ran MBAM update. It updated to database version 6769 without a problem but then wouldn't let me run a Flash Scan as that 'feature is only available in the full version'. Avira and Windows firewall back on. I don't believe I have an infected machine and my original question related to whether there was a problem with the Trial feature. Only Vulnax replied saying they had the same problem rather than loads of others so perhaps it isn't a programming fault but I haven't adjusted the date/time of my laptop. I assumed the Trial feature was simply done on an encrypted delta t rather than any strange programming and whilst I agree malware can disable MBAM and other antivirus/antimalware programs I wouldn't expect them to end a time trial. If hardly anyone else is having problems with the Trial and you think it might be due to my hard disk problems I will leave it at that and just end the Trial. I have used your free program for years, it is very good, and have put it on numerous PCs for people after I have cleaned them. Some I have told to pay for the full version as they aren't savvy enough to spot when something has got in and do a scan immediately. I will continue to use the program, just thought I'd give the Trial ago to see whether I should upgrade and pay for the full version. Thanks again.
  9. Hi Ron, Both logs attached as requested. Previous Full scans of the free program have not found a problem. Thanks, attach.txt dds.txt
  10. Hi, After downloading latest updates it installed 1.51.0.1200 and asked if I wanted to try the free 14 day trial which I accepted. When the program ran it became memory resident and put up the scan page so I started a Flash Scan to see what it was like. Scan completed with no problems, closed main window and carried on using laptop. About 2 hours later I am now getting a message saying the trial period has ended and do I want to Purchase, Register or End trial ! Is it me or is there a problem ?
