  1. Progress!!! I ran ComboFix, and it just completed (after a scary reboot or two that re-enabled my anti virus scanners). I now at least have access to the Malwarebytes web site, and was able to kick off a MBAM scan. I'm not sure if I'm totally clean yet, but this is amazing - I cannot thank you enough. Attached are my ComboFix logfile, HJT log (renamed as *.txt as it wouldn't allow me to attach a .log file). Also attached is my MBAM log file (it just finished running - no errors found!). If you see other issues with my machine, please let me know. I will try to verify that all is working correctly, but probably won't do it until tomorrow. This service is a lifesaver!!! log.txt hijackthis.log.txt mbam_log_2009_01_15__00_29_16_.txt log.txt hijackthis.log.txt mbam_log_2009_01_15__00_29_16_.txt
  2. Unfortunately, I am unable to successfully run MBAM. When I double-click on it, it goes to an hourglass for a few seconds, then nothing happens. I tried reinstalling MBAM, but that doesn't work either. By renaming the install file, I was able to get the install to begin, but it hangs up in the middle. What should I try next?
  3. It looks like I have very similar problems to some others. Specifically, 1. All of my browsers are hijacked when I click on links (they go to adware sites). I also get spontaneous pop-ups. 2. Any attempt to go to an anti-virus site is blocked 3. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software was broken by the virus, and cannot reinstall successfully or run (the process starts, then terminates automatically after a few seconds) 4. The PC locks up periodically This is by far the worst virus my PC has ever had. Please help! I am unable to successfully launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (even when I've copied it over from another machine using a CD). However, by copying a file from another PC I was able to run HijackThis, and here is the log file: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 8:55:50 PM, on 1/14/2009 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16762) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\sched.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avguard.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgwdsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\EPSON\EPW!3 SSRP\E_S40RP7.EXE C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\iaantmon.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\PIFSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgrsx.exe C:\Program Files\Canon\CAL\CALMAIN.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgemc.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\ehome\ehtray.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\jusched.exe C:\WINDOWS\stsystra.exe C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\iaanotif.exe C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\DVDLauncher.exe C:\Program Files\Creative\SBAudigy\Surround Mixer\CTSysVol.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\PIFSvc.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avgnt.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\DOCUME~1\Hubby\LOCALS~1\Temp\clclean.0001 C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Creative Labs Shared\Service\CreativeLicensing.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Hubby\Desktop\HijackThis.exe R0 -
